I didn't know Mickey's Backyard BBQ was an event & buffet. I thought it was just a restaurant all this time.
We've done Hoop De Doo a few times, never thought there would be another one out there similar, much less also @ FW.

Going to look for reviews now....

Not quite so much of an "event" as the Hoop (not by a long shot,) but the food is very much similar (plus a few additional items.)
AFAIK, it is prepared in the same kitchen as the Hoop's food.

I'm here every day and I still can't keep up with everything. The worst features are the "Magic" ones, at least the BBQ has a somewhat unique name.

so is it worth it? Not sure we went to shell out the $ for Hoop again but want something funish

It's fun for small kids, folks who don't mind lots of noise, and Mickey and Minnie take pics in their western wear. It was fun for us when our daughter was six, but food was just ok.

ok, my kids are much older (18, 10 &13) I might better keep on looking

We took our 5 and 3 year olds and they had a blast, but I do not think that older kids would enjoy it as much. IMO it is more of a 10-12 and under type thing. The food was really good though.

Mine are older 17 and 22 (just graduated college) , we are doing quite a few table service meals because we like them.

BOG (breakfast and dinner)
CRT (dinner)
Tusker House (lunch)
Garden Grill (Breakfast)
Biergarten (lunch)
Akershus (breakfast)
Trails End (dinner)
Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch)
Crystal Palace (lunch)
Via Napoli (lunch)
50's Prime Time (lunch)
Shula's Steak House at the Dolphin (dinner)
Ohana (dinner)

If you have been there a few times, you may have already hit most of these. If they like a special type of food, that could help narrow it down, especially if you like something in one of the countries at Epcot. I know we went to Boma last time and 2 of us loved it, two, not so much. But so happy we saw AK Lodge, its so beautiful. Its hard to please everyone. Pizza, steak, and buffets work best for us.

Everyone has their favorites, and its hard to eliminate those, but we are trying 3 new ones this time, and taking off a few that we always go to.

Wow that's a lot! I ended up reserving an oldie (50s PT ) & a new one for us, TUsker House (bfast). We are paying OOP so can't do much more than that.

We are paying out of pocket too, its sort of part of my daughter's college graduation gift. I do have some disney dollars from my Chase cards from the past 2 years. We have never had this many before, its what they wanted, we, you know, just tag along. We are there 9 days. Then come home and get on the treadmill.

We did Mickey's Backyard BBQ 5 years ago, when my younger DD was 10. I think she felt she was a little old, compared to the rest of the kids there. Still, she had fun taking pictures with Chip & Dale prior to entering the area, and dancing with Mickey and the gang. The food was your typical BBQ, and we love our BBQ, so it was enjoyable. I don't think we'd do it again, though. Well, maybe if/when we have grandkids.

That is what we used to do too, 3-4 days, and with two kids in our church school, it was all we could do. We had no intentions of going to Disney this year. I was fortunate with discounts codes and that lowered our trip a great deal. My younger daughter was ill all last year and we did not get to enjoy vacation time together, she was house ridden all summer so this is sort of 2 fold, celebrating both of them. One graduating college with high honors and my younger one 17, a lot healthier and just found out today she passed her AP exams. We really do not know if we will be together as a family next summer, my daughter will be starting grad school. We just wanted to take this opportunity and make some memories. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time.

My girls with their favorite CM at their favorite place CRT
