Well, It Looks Like HHN Will Return to Universal Studios After All!

It is a shame that it has come to this, but it looks like corporate in Florida has finally resorted to making the big decisions for the bonehead management out in Hollywood. I'm starting to wonder if they played a major role in getting the Scorpion King greenlighted for USH to replace ET.

>>>And, finally, a Universal Studios-Hollywood (USH) source claims a discontinued event may be coming back:

Senior executives of Vivendi Universal have discussed the possibility of bringing back the Halloween Haunt to USH this year (no USH executives were invited to this meeting). Special ticketed Halloween continues to be popular at Universal Studios-Florida annually, and it was launched in Osaka at Universal Studios-Japan last year. One of the key points about bringing it back is the belief that USH can't continue to go unused at night in October. Another point was that annual passes wouldn't be good for admission, so cash flow would be created by the new business, maybe even making a small profit.

Also talked about how to overcome expected opposition (regarding bringing it back) by the USH staff, who feel they are overworked enough as it is. No decision has been made, but if I hear anything I'll let you know.<<<

It will be interesting to see how Knotts will do their haunt this year if Universal makes a grand return to Halloween in Hollywood.

It's amazing how there is so much talk about this event 6 months before it happens.
www.screamscape.com is trying to get all the details for the IOA event. Just in case you didn't see it, here's what Lance is saying.

2003 - Halloween Horror Nights - Rumors - (3/10/03) What do we know about this year’s HHN event? It will take place at IOA again... but for the third year in a row there are still rumors floating around claiming that they may be looking at somehow using both parks for the event because the crowds are just so big that neither park can seem to handle it alone. While I don’t think that USF needs to be used again, I do think that they should take over more of the sound stage area and at least double the number of Haunted Houses for this year. When compared to the masters of Halloween at Knott’s who feature 9 to 13 Haunts each year, just having 5 Haunts each year at Universal is kind of pathetic. Each year people complain about how long the lines are... and with five Haunts, that is what you get. The only way to shorten the lines, other than the cutback the number of tickets they sell each night, is to double the number of Haunts. All the 60 minute queues will be cut in half. If they can pull that one off and find a way to get permission to keep the coasters open all night instead of closing them early due to Noise Levels, then they’ll be in good shape.

If you check Universal's official web site, the hours for IOA in October close at 5, while US remains open until 7. So, when they made up the calendar, anyway, they were planning on HHN at IOA.

As far as I know, they still are. Pheneix was talking about Universal Studios Hollywood.

The subject has thrown me off a couple times, too. :)
