For those who have been following my saga over the past month, we got the call from the doctor this morning at 5:30. FIL passed away. While it is a sad situation, it really was for the best. He was basically back and forth from the hospital to the nursing home/rehab for the past month. He was in pain, couldnt get out of bed, and aggravated that he was so helpless(hes only 64). In fact the other day he said to DH "Oh just shoot me!". Thats not a quality life at all.

I hate to say it, but in a way it is like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. We knew it was inevitable, but it was just a matter of when. Every time the phone rang, we panciked. Plus we were completely stressed over what to do about our WDW trip coming up in 2 weeks. At least now FIL is at peace, and we can stop worrying 24/7.

Sorry CamColt
FIL died 6yrs ago from cancer. It was a slow death - he had time to say his goodbyes. But now he really is in a better place.
My Dad died 8yrs ago while in his sleep from a heart attack - no time for goodbyes.
Hang in there - its gonna be a rough few days. Do you have help with your kids during this time? DS had to be involved in it all because there was no other place for him to go.

{{hugs}}

My deepest sympathies for you and your family. We went through that last year with both my in-laws, 9 months apart. My FIL died in March and my MIL died in December. My SIL had the same dilemma you did....they had a WDW trip planned for over the Christmas break, and MIL died 2 weeks or so before Christmas.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I know that the next few days will be difficult and I will say a prayer for strength for your family. My sympathies and prayers are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My condolances and prayers for you and your family.

Thanks!
Yes, luckily my parents live right around the corner from us and they are a great help. We also have great neighbors. I havent left the kids with them yet, but throughout this past month they have all been offering to take the kids if we need them to.
So sorry about your losses, Imgoingtodisney and Disney Doll. I think either way its hard to lose them. :( MIL also has cancer, but her prognosis is better than waht FIL's was.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss...my heart goes out to you and your family. :(

*HUGS* to you and your family.

{{{HUGS}}} I am so sorry to hear that your FIL passed away but as you said his quality of life was not good in the end. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry.... I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. {{{hugs}}}

I am so sorry for you loss. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

((hugs)) I know what you mean about feeling they are at peace. My DM passed away from cancer at 68. She seemed so young and vital yet, but the pain and suffering from the disease made us all ready when the time came.

Prayers and PD for you and DH.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. I understand how you felt, my FIL had cancer and was hospitalized for 6 months, it was horrible watching him waste away, but we were so relieved when it was over.
Hugs!!

My condolences, Katie, to you, your hubby and family. It is sad when we lose a loved one, but a relief if they are so very ill. God bless you all, my prayers for him and you both.

Dan
