I have made several attempts at losing weight over the years and several actually just the last couple of times by coming here for support, which worked until I gave up on myself.

Well, I'm at it again. Partially in thanks to my daughter. She had a physical appointment and had a bad report from the doctor. I have dealt with obesity/weight issues all my life and she is now dealing with them too - however, she's 15 and I'm 36. Not good at either end but worse on hers. So the doc sent her for bloodwork and it came back that her cholesterol is of concern. In order to expect her to conform to some change in eating and exercise I knew I also had to for it to be "fair".

So July 1 we started a new regimen. We began working out at Jazzercise with a free week and then signed up to stay. We are going at least 3 times a week but most weeks we will be able to do 4-5. This is an intense but great and fun workout. For some reason, I always do better if someone has my money.

I haven't weighed yet but I can feel a difference in my energy with a little over one week into it. It's still hard, but they tell me it will get easier. In the first week my daughter lost 7 pounds!!!!! Now for her that is great because she was really watching what she was eating and really committing herself to this workout. Me for the first week, well I gained 2.5 pounds but then got on the scale 2 days later and had lost 3.5 pounds.

I really don't like posting my weight because I'm ashamed of it so I won't be doing that. Rather I will post my highs and lows. I know it's going to be hard. I'm really watching what I'm putting in my mouth. I know I have cut out at least 500-700 caleries a day already. I've cut down on the carbs, but still eating them as you do need carbs in your diet, and I'm really watching the fats. I'm now into this 12 days and the cravings are starting to go away, as is some of the hunger.

I can't wait to report in that I've lost 10 pounds, then 20, then 25, and so on. I'm really looking to do this this time and stick to it. I have to - not only for myself but for my daughter and my family!

Thanks for letting me post. I'm gonna go start my journal...

Oh, and is anyone else doing Jazzercise? I wasn't sure how I'd like it but I do really like it. And I know quite a few people there that are really great forms of support for me because they want to see me getting healthier too!!!

P.S. The one thing I do want to say since I'm not posting what I weigh right now is that to get to where I want to be I have to lost 134 pounds.

Hello Cruise, how great that you have a partner to lose weight with! It will be much easier that way, I know posting my journal and having other people read it usually keeps me in line...

Keep up with the Jazzercise, you will be dropping those pounds in no time!

You don't have to post your weight. I have NEVER posted my WEIGHT here, just my losses (or gains :earseek: ) Seriously, don't let that ever stop you from posting here. So glad to have you here for yourself and DD!! :grouphug: (Hey, can I personally address you both, or are you 'secret'?) ;)

While I can't help with Jazzercise (it sounds like fun), I do Leslie Sansone at home tapes, but keep up the exercise, it DOES make a HUGE difference, and helps with weight loss too!

I will go check now for your journal (I never started one as WW had me journaling enough!). ;)

Welcome again and HUGE {{HUGS}} to you & DD!! PM/email anytime. ;) You CAN do this! :cheer2:

It's wonderful that you and your daughter can share this journey! You've also got all of us here at WISH to support you! I know you can do it!

In the beginning it's easy because you are so enthusiastic and you see quick losses. The key is to keep with it even when you don't FEEL like it. Think of those things you do because you HAVE to, not because you WANT to. Then put healthy eating and exercise into that category. Do it because it's the right thing to do, even when you don't feel like doing it anymore.

You can do this!!

Hey there Miss Kim!!!! I'm not in "secret". You can address both Britt and I with no problem.

Thanks for the support. My biggest problem is that darned scale and staying off of it. But I know I'll eventually get over it.

And the hardest part has been having the enthusiasm but not seeing any losses - I learned that the hard way each time I've done WW.

And Kim knows me personally and knows that I do really need to get this weight off - I'm a big short girl!!!!!

Thanks again for the support. Now I never started that darned journal yesterday but I have to it today!!!!
