First let me say I am an avid....yes avid Disney fan....both of the resorts and the cruises.....and the great entertainment they give to people and a country in my opinion that needs some happiness.....as I had mentioned on a previous thread I had planned a surprise cruise for my wife in September taking along my 23 year old daughter and 80 year old Florida resident mother in law.....asked that no mail or calls be made to our NY home since it was a surprise for my wife......sent money and asked again not to send a receipt.....so, ofcourse things seemed like they worked...except last week they sent a letter to remind us the balance is due on 7/13......and guess who opened the letter and confirmation....yup, my wife. Surprise is over.....so I called DCL and spoke to reservations supervisor who apologized many times.....but once the surprise is out of the bag there is little that can be done.....I guess when I chose to surprise her again(and I will do it and make it work) I best go through a travel agent...so...hopefully they will put us in the Disney suite......just kidding......but a nice bottle of wine would be nice....anyway....less than ten weeks to go to the un-surprise cruise........
Tom

Tom. your wife is probably happy for the warning. Gives her time to shop for new clothes! Diana

Hi Tom. Did you watch the fireworks display over Jones Beach?

less than ten weeks to go to the un-surprise cruise........

I am quite sure it isn't the surprise which your wife cherishes. It is the thoughtfulness of the man she loves which gives her reason to smile. The gift, dear Tom, is you. The real loss, unfortunately, is yours: the joy of anticipation in surprising a loved one. It is this loss on your part which I hope DCL makes amends for in terms of a stateroom upgrade and/or couples massage "on the house"...

Wishing you a terrific cruise.

Sorry about the mix-up. I'm sure that she was surprised when she opened the mail though. I wish that my husband would surprise we with a cruise! But I know that I would not want to be surprised at the last minute. When were you planning on telling her? I know that I would kill my husband if he didn't tell me at least a bit in advance. I couldn't imagine waking up one morning and having my DH say "Get packed we are going on a cruise today." It would take me at least a week to get ready. And then I would be running around like a chicken with my head cut off. And I definitely would not want my husband packing for me.

Tom,
The institution of marriage and the world at large would benefit from more spouses such as yourself. You are a man among men and husband extraordinaire. Rejoice in the time that you will spend together and allow yourself a moment to grieve the surprize revealed too soon. Then go onward to the enjoyment of faith, trust and pixie dust....

My Best to you (and your very fortunate wife),
Dawn Hope

Im sorry they ruined the suprise.
My Dh could pack for me any day.
He has a great sende of style and knows what I like to werr.
Try to have fun anyway.
Maybe you can suprise her with a massage, or a welcome basket in the room.

BOY Some people r never happy......

first a canceled cruise then a ruined surprise cruise
hope all works out some time in your favor ......

I hope those storm clouds that are hovering over you blow away before you get on the ship...... Isn't that hurricane season???? I hope you didn't "demand" anything in your letter....remember previous posts......express your displeasure and disappointment and you will recieve greater rewards. Just speaking from experience.

CRSNDSNY--

Hello! I just saw one of your posts and loved the link about the "Cat Man." I was wondering if you would mind if I added a similar link to my posts?

Thanks in advance!

Jason

Well the fun is over now ~ you should really just cancel the whole darn thing...........NOT!

When were you planning on telling her, by the way? She would need time to get her things together, take time off work, organize things... what was the plan?

ThreeCircles -- I just PMd you. ;)

I think it is lovely that you are surprising your wife, and she was surprised-unfortunately too early and not the way you had intended. I for one would love it if DH suprised me with a trip but I would be miffed if he did not tell me until the last minute, I may have wanted to get my hair done or my manicure the week before.

I am a bit confused though what you expect of Disney. I think looking for an upgrade is a bit much, they were very generous to you in the last instance if I recall correctly.(the cancelled cruise) I hope you don't feel that your trip is ruined. I thought Disney was treating you quite well in the first place with the planning of the suprise., they allowed you the Florida resident rate even though you don't live in florida (tickets went to your mother in law if I recall)
It seems to me that you have been hoping for an upgrade from the get go, this is from another of your threads before the suprise was ruined...

Category 11 for the 3 day....
Hey all....I have a 3 day cruise booked in September on the Wonder.....booked a category 11 since I am taking my 23 year old daughter, 80 year old mother in law and my wife.....I am paying for the whole trip and booked a category 11 for 2 reasons....first and foremost money.....and secondly is you hardly spend any time in the cabin except to sleep.....my daughter is a big girl....6 foot....and my MIL has had a double knee replacement...so.....will it be difficult or uncomfortable sleeping in the inside cabin...never have had 4 in a standard inside cabin......thanks for any info you can share....still time to make some changes or hope for a small upgrade...we have cruised 4 times....the last 4 years in a row.....
Thanks again....
Tom

I did not demand anything.....did not ask for anything....just wanted them to know that greater care should be taken when a guest books a cruise for four and asks it be kept a secret.......and the Florida resident rate that they were going to give me turns out to be $100.00 more than the rate I booked in March.....Disney was very generous with myself and about 900 other families for unfortunately ruining a lot of peoples vacation that they planned for at least a year.....I did not ask for anything...they decided on there own to give us the 50% off......and yes, they did upgrade us in May.....there choice.....nothing I did to get it.......but thanks for all the kind words from most....
Tom

perhaps if one wants to keep a secret they should start by not posting it on a public board...........
as for not requesting/demanding/expecting anything... re read all your previous threads...
I sincerely hope that your trip is wonderful I just don't think this even begins to warrent an upgrade.

I always say that half of the fun of a vacation is the anticipation. Your wife was surprised (although a bit early). But now she can enjoy getting ready and looking forward to all the fun. Let the party start now!

Tom,
I am so glad to here Disney did that for you and your family. It might not help the surprise, but at least your wife will have some extra spending money on the cruise line now!!! Disney isn't stupid, they know if they take care of you, you will book again and SPEND more of your own money!!! Hope you have a wonderful time!!!:sunny:
