Hi all! Getting so excited! This will be my kids 2nd time to DL, but 1st time on a plane! We drove 2 yrs ago from Alberta to California.

Some questions that I need some help with:

1) We are staying at the Anaheim Hilton. From what I can figure out online, they don't have a airport shuttle. Our flight gets in at approx 9 am. What is the best way for our family of 4 to get from LAX to our hotel?

2) Any gotta try restaurants in the park and/or area? I'm planning on calling tomorrow to make reservations at the Blue Bayou for dinner one evening. Any others we should try?

3) What nights have electrical parade and fireworks show? We are there from Tuesday - Saturday.

So much I want to ask, need to know but my mind is drawing a blank.

Any other gotta-do tips and suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

Lori:cool1:

We are there Tuesday as well!! 17th-20th!! I can only answer one of your questions.

The fireworks and Electrical parade only run Friday night and Saturday night. They are both not to be missed!!! love them soooo much!!! I'm sad we wont be there Friday to see them, but oh well! LOL

OMGOSH. We'll be there too! It's definitely going to be a party:

We're going the 17th-20th as well! Well, more like the 17th in the evening, the 18th, and the 19th, going home the 20th. But hey.

We like dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. The kids get to see a lot of characters, get autographs, and get some entertainment during dinner. If you have a CAA card, you can get 10% off your meal there.

We also enjoy lunches at Whitewater Snacks at the Grand California Hotel. Really good food in big portions (my DH and I always share), with healthy sides (meals come with fresh fruit).

You said you were doing Blue Bayou for dinner. It's good for dinner but from what I understand, they don't serve their famous montecristo at dinner, just lunch. Just thought I'd say that in case you were looking forward to that menu item.

As for transportation from LAX to DL, for our family of 4, we always find it more convenient to rent a car. We've used the airport shuttle before and it took soooo long waiting for it to stop at our terminal, then waiting for it to finish circling LAX and picking up more passengers, then dropping everyone off at their respective hotels.

Wish we were going so soon! Have to wait till July... :sad1: Have a great trip!

How old are your kids? If they are young, you should really plan a character meal. I always let my kids pick the place - they go by who their favorite characters are. My DD 14 chose Ariel's Grotto in CA for the princesses and DS 9 chose Goofy's Kitchen. Lilo & Stitch's breakfast was a close second for both of them. ;)

You will probably have to chose between the firworks and Electric Parade since I am assuming you are leaving on Sat. They are only scheduled for Fri & Sat next week.

If you go to the disneyland.com sight, you can put in your dates and get a printout of the show schedule for your vacation. That should help a lot with planning.

We leave for Cali tomorrow! We will be in DL Thur - Mon (19 - 23)!!!:woohoo:

Transportation to the hotel - We have always used the Disneyland Express. You can ride one way or get a round trip ticket. You do have to wait for the bus (a large one with a lavatory), but if you ask at the information booth, they can give you a phone number to call to see if they are on the half hour schedule or the hourly one. We got into the airport LAX at approx. 6:00pm and it was still running on the half hour schedule. You do have to wait to drop off others who are on the route before you, but it doesn't take that long. It probably took about an hour to go from the airport to when we were dropped off. They stop at the DLH to do the money transactions or voucher pick up. Hope this helps!

Wow, have a great time!! I go to hollywood on Wednsday, and then head over to disneyland on Thursday!! I cannot wait to go! I cant believe. I will be there in less than 6 days. Have not been since. I was 4 yrs old. That, was many moons ago.

I have heard that there is a great place called Mimi's for breakfast. Basically across the street from Disney. I am thinking to go there, one day. Before park opening. Hopefully?

The Blue Bayou, I will try. My first time. For lunch, for the Monte Cristo. This nice man told me. I should try the cookie boat. But, I will be alone, and dont think I could even eat a forth of it. We will see.

Cafe Orleans, i hear is very nice as well. Oh, and for not to miss foods i will try the corn dogs, and the mint julep. I hear so much about. Well, let me get ready for work. I hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!!

Then go with a big apetite!!! I had the Monte Cristo in February and I couldn't finish it, let alone have dessert! Delicious. Like a meat donut, but tastier than that sounds. :lmao:
