Afternoon, all.

I goofed. I forgot to call the school to tell them I was picking the boys up today. My day care provider took them along with her, but I didn't realize that I didn't call the school until I was in the car rider line!

Elaine, I completely understand where you are on that. The strangest things are getting to me right now. Today, it was a new quarter...my mom was collecting five of each of them to do those folios for the younger grandkids. Here's a hug and a wish that the things that you think of today are happy memories with your mom.

Karen, I think that's a great idea.

Got to see the inlaws new house yesterday. They did well. The cat is all freaked out by the plane ride, the empty house (the lanai) and has decided to camp out on top of the kitchen cabinets. Probably the best place for him right now. They went and bought a big, expensive kitty apparatus, but he's not into it yet.

Anyway, off to get the younguns and later, Very Merry.

Suzanne

 Elaine

Update on my DS's classmates - all are in critical but stable condition. The one girl woke from her coma 2 days ago, which is a very good thing. It will be a very slow healing process for them, though. :guilty:

We are in the middle of a sleet/freezing rain/snow storm. Uck.

Elaine...lots of hugs to you!!! I can't even imagine losing my mother!! (now my father...hehe that's a different story!!) If its any consolation i'm sitting here with tears in my eyes for you!! I'm sure my the detention kids think I'm losing my mind!! :teeth: not that they are too far off!!

Pam...glad the kids are doing better. It will be a long road but at least they have a road. godd luck to them.

Suzanne...oops! :teeth: sounds like something I would do today!!

Okay, can someone explain to me why a person retires from a job that has decent money and then spends the next six months looking for a job??? She said she wanted to quit teaching and do substitute teaching so she could decide who she works for and when. Well, today I email her to find out if she can keep her grandson on Sunday so I can do some Christmas shopping and she tells me that she has taken a job at a lawyers office and will now be working M-F and will only be home some weekends??? :confused3 I don't understand her. ugh! So still no stocking stuffing shopping or actually being out and shopping as adults!

Okay, gotta go get work together for tomorrow's crowd!!

tara

Tara, I hear you on the no shopping thing. I got another present for Ed and one for Kevin at Costco (although not the big one I wanted). Last night, we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel with the in laws, and I tried to get away from the table THREE times to sneak in some stocking stuffer shopping! Oh well. At least there's one a few miles away for me to pop into during the week!

My day care is closed Christmas Eve (not a surprise), so I now have to see who wants the boys for the afternoon. Half day for me, but I have to assume Ed's working-at the very least, he'll be delivering express and parcels.

Waiting for him to get home. I think he'll be here around 6:30, so we'll get to Very Merry at 7:30. It's funny, at one point it would bother me that we weren't getting there right at the start, now I'm of the mind that I can ride the rides anytime, I just want the parade and fireworks (and cookies and cocoa!)

Later!

Suzanne

Hey All,

Well I called the church where the memorial gardens are that my parents are in. After a couple of letters written they will be coming home to me on Tuesday. This truely is the best Christmas present I could have gotten. I will feel much better and so will dh. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my heart.

Elaine :grouphug: to you dear. Such a hard time of year anyway and you got the double whammy. If there is anything I can do please give me a yell.

:grouphug: to all that are missing loved ones. I dont normally post on threads like that either but something got into me this morning. Maybe it was my psyches way of letting me let go of the feelings Ive been holding in.

Pam Im glad to hear the kids are doing better. They will still be in my prayers. Please keep us updated as you can.

Suzanne :grouphug: to you kiddo. I know what you mean about little things setting you off. Its less than it was when I was where you are in the grieving process but some things will still set me off. It does get better though kiddo. Im here if you want to talk.

Acck I just had my first piece of chocolate since the storm and YUCK!!! It was sooooooooo sweet!!! Hopefully that will stay with me LOL!!!

Welp time to go eat din din. I will checkin laters!!

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

Haven't gotten much computer time lately. Junior & the boys are into some games right now and are hogging both computers. :rolleyes1

Nice quiet house here now, though. Boys and Junior are off at practice at church. :teeth:

I'll take the chocolate, Karen ::yes:: I never pass it up. I do have quite a stash here already though. I still have not opened the See's we got last year from our investment broker...and today another arrived. ...Hmmm...I think one will go to Disney with us and one to Las Vegas.

Had a grand time with my friend today...but as expected traffic was horrible!!
It should take an hour to get there....took 1 3/4 this morning and 2 1/4 tonight

Glad to hear good news on the kids, Pam...so sad.

Another  Elaine. Not much else to say. We all have to deal with it our own way.

Have fun Suzanne!!

My AP voucher FINALLY arrived :bounce:

:wave2: Sherry. You need to schedule you a little computer time.

Tired, cold and got to go get dinner started :wave2:

Hi all

Didn't sleep well last night and today I am busy doing things I have been putting off. I also HAVE to finish a scarf for my sister. I'm at least really close to being done :)

Morning Ya Yas!

Sherry, thanks for that save.

Pam, glad that the young ones seem to be improving. Difficult for all I am certain.

Nancy, that is a massive traffic trek. Glad you enjoyed your GF time.

Tara, seems like it is going to be an artful thing to get those last things shopped. I'm guessing MIL got bored...I am trying to get my mind set to not be bored so I can actually be retired. (Hoping that my pocketbook will be set for that too.) Four and a half more years for me...almost there.

Elaine, you getting your days and nights mixed up? No sleeping during the day if you didn't sleep well at night. Must finish that scarf! Oooh I know, LONG fringe!
:earboy2:

Karen, good news about not eating that whole box of chocolate. Seems like you have figured out that you really don't want all that stuff that is not good for you. (Send it to Nancy! she wants it! tee hee)

Can't remember who wanted to know--TM=treadmill. (sorry)
Nothing to report here. Work, work, work.

Snow delay here - just got DS shipped off to school.

Nancy - I will share Karen's box of candy with you! :teeth:

Elaine - please take a nap for me from 11 am - 1:30 pm today! :cheer2: (Remember when Liz would nap for us?? :goodvibes )

Suzanne and Tara - I remember all too well the days of trying to shop with 2 kids clinging to my legs and arms! :guilty: Now they love to go shopping with me to make sure they get what they really want! :rotfl:

It's officially deadline weekend! I only have 2 stories left to write -- and I have all of my other copy formatted and ready to go. I turned in the disk of photos to Production, just waiting for them to adjust the color and sizing and give them back to me. Everyone repeat after me, "Pam will get off her duff and finish the paper early this time!!"

Tara - DD has most of the lights on the tree, ornaments will go up today. :Pinkbounc I need to get some extension cords and plug in the outside lights and decorations. Our house is always done by Dec. 1st! :earseek: I don't know what went wrong this year. :guilty:

Sherry - gotta love a quiet house, huh?? :lovestruc

But, but....you're still waiting on the fudge (or the nuts minus the fudge :rotfl: ) that Elaine is supposed to be delivering.
Aww.....I guess I can share. I do have that 4 pounds of See's sitting here too.
Remember, 2 pounds are coming to FL with me ;)

Hope everyone has a great day....it is getting colder and colder here.
We were walking down the street downtown yesterday and some young guy by us just starts ranting (he did look cold). " This is too cold for WA. This is east coast cold. It has to warm up. " :rotfl:

Lots of little odds and ends to do around here today....and a Vegas trip to book :hyper: (not sure I want to see the numbers for that one  ).

This morning my mom spotted what appeared to be the fake Christmas tree needles on the floor. So my mom asked Jarrod what happened to the Christmas tree. His answer?? “I was trimming the tree.” Lol!!

Unfortunately he has heard about trimming the tree and he slightly misunderstood the meaning!! hehehe :rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I am literally on the floor laughing! Jar is quite the character, isn't he??

Okay - now I'm getting ticked!

DS's HS had a bomb threat on Wed. - just after 1st period. They evacuated over 700 kids to the MS and had them sit on the floor of the gym until after 7th period. They all got soy burgers for lunch.

Today we had a 2 hr. snow delay - school started at 9:30 am - DD gets a text message from DS at 10:21 saying there was another bomb thread - and they are back in the MS gym! :guilty: That's two days of class missed because of some idiot!

Whoa, server busy. I guess everyone is herre are't they!

Pam, too sad about the threat, I hope they get the little deamon doing it. Eek! You WILL get your stories done! You are almost there! Hurray for you!

Tara, :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I just love your little Jar-isms! He is quite the imagineer isn't he!

Nancy, don't look at the numbers! You will win it all back!

Jar-isms!! :rotfl: I like it!!
I'm wondering if I should email his teacher and ask if they use that term at school!! Let her know that she has kids cutting their Christmas trees!!

Pam that is sad that they are losing another day of school. That's ridiculous. I remember having bomb threats in high school. We had to sit outside one time in our gym clothes for about 3 hours. It wouldn't have been so bad except that we had been doing gymnastics and we were in shorts and no shoes....and it was february! We darn near froze our toes off!

tara

Scarf is done! I just hope my sister actually likes it. If not, heck I'd take it back. It was long enough w/o the fringe fortunately... especially since the thread snapped on me (a little too much tugging from the kitty gallery I suspect). So I removed a few rows and just finished it off there.

Ummm... I think the nuts were eaten by Luis... but I am sure I could tyr to find some more. Just give me some time to suck off the chocolate on a few M&Ms and the like around the house ;)

Tara, that is too funny about Jarrod! How cute though :)

Pam, I can't believe that kind of crap they do at schools. I'd be ticked off too. And definitely at the soy burgers (sorry don't do soy here)

nancy, I hope it warms up for y'all... if it is East Coast cold, I could only imagine how cold it must feel there.

Oops, I saw the time... I am late for my nap ;) Yeah, I wish I could nap, but I have other things to do today. Who says life at home is all fluff :p

Afternoon, all.

Went back to re read all the emails back and forth from my old college. I don't know why I didn't realize it at the time, but I only need ONE class for my degree, not two. Eeep. I've been going around for 12 years thinking I needed two (and that's already pretty sad). Soooo, off went the email to get the enrollment for the math minimester class for january. Sorry, I won't be around much then!

Very Merry was great. We got there just in time to find a place on the hub for the parade. I had a 'mom moment' during the parade, but we really enjoyed it. Then we had our cocoa and moved over to the bridge to tomorrowland for the fireworks. Had another 'mom moment' and realized that I will be a waterworks forever when I hear "I'll be Home for Christmas". Even typing it is making me well up.

That said, the rest of it was great, even the rain. It cleared out the park real nice!

Kevin had complained on the way off the monorail getting there that we haven't asked to ride in the front in forever and gave me grief over it. So, I asked on the way back and we got it! First time for the front in the dark, and it was neat. As we passed the Poly, Ed was saying "Home, I wanna go Home" and Kevin was telling the monorail pilot that "The best restaurant on the planet is there, 'Ohana'. I got the bright idea to see if we could get an ADR for Sunday night, so Ed's mom and sister can see the fireworks. Cross your fingers.

Our tram announcer was the funniest I've ever encountered. His antics:
As we're leaving the tram stop, to the people in line: "Folks, please be patient, another tram will be here...in an hour"
On the parking lot: "If your car won't start, you can't find your car, or your car is surrounded by a biker gang, please flag down Security and they will assist you. Mind you, you won't see them, and when you do, they'll be too far away to see you and won't come to your aid."
After leaving the first stop, Minnie: "If you are parked in Minnie, so sorry, but that WAS your stop. You are welcome to stay on the tram as we will return to Minnie...tomorrow morning."
As we got off at our stop: "Next stop, Donald. That's right, the next stop is McDonalds. It will take us 8 hours to get there, but the big macs are good"
He also complained that he wanted to get off at Goofy, but they wouldn't let him. Hilarious.

Tara, that was :rotfl: !

Gotta go. Need to get some food in the tummy before working tonight.

Suzanne

Suzanne, that tram driver does sound funny! Bet he was a riot to listen to! Glad y'all had fun at MVMCP as well... I almost missed going this year. Oh and good luck with the last class. Really cool that you are only one class away!

Looking at a menu for a restaurant we are going to tomorrow. Dont' get me wrong, I am not knocking vegitarians, but when you are a picky eater who falls back on chicken at most places it's hard to know what you can eat. So i am looking at an "exotic vegitarian" place... the exotic part gets me more. But it is for my sister's 30th birthday (turning that Sunday) so tomorrow we are all gathering at her favorite place.

Just need to wrap her presents now :)
