Oh yeah...our wedding was thrown together in about 2 months. DH was in Cuba at the time (Navy) and only had a week to come home. Got married and went to Niagara Falls/Toronto for a few days, and he left to go back to Cuba again. :teeth:
My dress was from JCPenney...cost around $200. I don't remember all the costs as my parents paid for everything. (I was 19) DH's parents paid for cake and some flowers. The bridesmaids dresses were made by a friend of DH's family and only were about $75. :teeth: So, all in all, probably about $1000-$2000 for us. This was almost 14 years ago.

Just a quick hi and bye!!! Got up to see Greg off to work, and to get some breakfast, by the way, it is really gonna suck when room service is over and breakfast in bed will be nonexsistant. how did you like that run on sentance? Entered us into the hgtv dreamhouse contest and now I am going night night!! So for all of you yaya's who need a little extra sleep, I will graciously be taking naps for you all. You can only imagine the bed head I have worked up!!! I am hoping the doo lasts until Saturday as it should compliment my outfit well!!! On that note....off to the hairdresser.....um I mean bed!!!!!!

Todd, you got a very good deal on some of those things!!! I wish our photography could have been so inexpensive! Actually one of the biggest cost savings we had was we made our own CDs for the reception so we had the type of music we wanted to play, playing. I have a portable 3 disc mini system that really does an excellent job! No complaints here at all using that!

Oh I wanted to tell you that a friend of mine is getting married and spending nearly $40K on hers!!!!! They are doing a weekend wedding though and they already have a house... but wow!

Nancy, I forgot to say this earlier... I hope all goes well for your DD today as she drives back to school

How much money do these people make??:earseek:

That is a lot of money....

Our DJ wasn't cooperating with what music we wanted...
My BIL hooked us up...He basicly threatened the guy...:teeth: Since he was good buddies with his boss...

Morning, ya yas and bothers!

It's cold out there. DS gets on the bus too early, and mom did not want to watch for him to get on it was so cold! I am looking forward to that Florida warmth. Beth, I think I have some warm winter woolies for you!

Boo Boo just woke up...I hear him slowly coming down the stairs, thinking I can't hear him!! :) Kinda hard to sneak when you're all pruckly.

Let's see, Bella, I did two weddings for under $2000. First was 14 years ago, and I got an $80 dress(who would wear an all white prom dress, anyway). Second was in a real wedding dress that was $250...but the reception was at a restaurant that doesn't normally have receptions. It was lots of fun that way and we were the only ones there, since they normally were closed on Sundays. I'm a DJ (or I used to be), so I dj'ed both of my weddings. I've been to some of those 20k+ weddings (several back on LI, and one in Boston) and they're nice, but not my style. I enjoy being a guest at those, though!

Tara, why do you want to stir up trouble? Not enough action here on the ya ya thread? If you're talking about a continuation of the 'pet peeve' thread, I didn't get into why my 7 yo will go in the ladies room with me when dad's not here. Can you say 'invisible disabilites'? I knew ya could!!

Nancy, get a wedding notebook together for all this planning. Hope the snow isn't too bad.

Off to call WDW again and see if they modified DH's ressie. My mickey cordless phone disconnected me!

Suzanne

Nancy, Junior can do the DJ thing. He's got all the equipment. :teeth: He's working on starting a DJ business on the side. :teeth:

Morning yaya's!

PoohSuzanne...I wanted to see if the freaks would come out of their caves...alas they have not. That appears to be a flame free thread. Iiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnvvvvvvvvvviiiiiiissssssssiiiiiiiibbbbbbbbllllle Diiiiiiiiissssssssaaaaaabbbbbbbbbbiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllliiiiiiitttttttyyyy.. Yeah I can say it!!! Yes and I know what you mean by invisible disability. I describe people not as normal or non disabled but as not having a visiable disability. We all have some sort of disability!!

Weddings...hmm if I ever get married (but that ain't happenen so I ain't holding my breath!!) I have said I wanted an outdoor wedding at a neighborhood park. Then you invite everyone to a pic-a-nic and after they ahve been there for a little while you suddenly say you have a surprise, do the ceremony, then go back to eating and playing. I had this idea before Julia did it with her man a couple of years ago. This way everyone brings their own food (no cost for me), clothes would be jeans and a tshirt (already in the closet), minister (not too bad), the boom box for the music, and the payment for holding the park spot for that many people. So my wedding would be really cheap...kinda like me! hehe

Okay, must run and do real work.

I'm going to try not to throw any fits today, but I have already told my assistant that if today starts the same as yesterday that my butt would be out of here!!!

more later,
tara

Todd, my guess is that they make somewhere between $100-125K. A decent amount, but still... an awful lot of money. $10K of it is coming as a gift from the groom's family. Some of it they will get back as people chip in for their stay at the cabins over the weekend. She asked (if possible) for people to pay $250 for 2 nights... considering I'd pay about $220 for a hotel and have to drive and not get food, I'll pay the $250 and not worry about it all :)

Suzanne, I found that doing the reception at a restaurant is very cost effective! We paid $20/person for a full dinner and then we had wine & beer on top of that. Ours was used to doing weddings too but they didn't charge extra for the room. Helped the cost out a lot! We also had a smaller wedding so that kept costs down too... most of Luis' family couldn't make it since they live in Puerto Rico, so I kept my list to close family & friends (still about 75 people showed up)

Oh I bet Junior would do a great job, Sherry!!!!

LOL, Tara, I love your wedding idea! I'll pass that along to my friend if she gets upset paying what she is for hers ;)

"Cliff notes," Pam croaks...... "someone send me some cliff notes to ketchup...."

Help! I'm lost by about 10 pages - you big old moth heads!

Is Wag Bella?

Is Jarrod feeling better? Nice thread, Tara - quite ironic isn't it?? And just horribly sad that little boy had to endure that - and yet some morons *STILL* don't get why parents are so protective of their kids - 0r in Deena's case - 4 brats! ;) (TH said that, not me!!)

OUr wedding was under $1000 21 years ago - we had just cake and ice cream and punch - a winter evening wedding. Wish we would have splurged on the photographer, though - DH's brother and SIL did it, and I was very disappointed......

Nancy, you don't have to look far for a caterer, either!! I bet Pam's Roadkill Cafe and Catering Service will take care of the food for ya for a very reasonable price!! Right, Pam?? Pam??

Oh Beth - for a fellow YaYa - I would not charge a dime!!:Pinkbounc  How are ya, girlfriend? And how is our other friend feeling?

Shep - still praying for Amanda's Mom and all of the family. :(

Nancy - that is so cool that you get to help with the wedding - I just know it will be terrific and that somehow confetti will be involved! :)

Boo - any date for you yet??

Liz - you get to party, girlfriend?? Did you ever get that banana split??

Elaine - Kristy overslept and didn't make it the office - AGAIN! Off with her head!!

Hello and mad love to everyone else!

I KNEW there was a reason I was hanging around here! :p

DW and I paid for our wedding which was fairly small but nice. Her dress was the most expensive thing and it was only $300. The church gave us the reception, a friend made the wedding cake, and we paid for the flowers and photographer.

However, a couple recently rented our church on a Saturday night because there's was not large enough to hold their wedding.

There were 5 ministers, over 30 attendants, and a sit down catered dinner for 250 guests after the wedding. They also rented all of the chairs, plates, etc. I suspect it cost quite a bit!

Hey Pammy, good to see you girl!! :wave2:

Love hearing the stories about everyone's wedding. :)

Bella, tongue boy is on The Wayne Brady Show right now. :) What a cutie. He's singing, too! :teeth:

Hi Pammy  Its about time you popped in  Im suprised you could even read the part about my 4 brats, lol. What kind of spelling was that??
Whats up with 5 ministers  I always thought no matter the size of the wedding you still only needed 1 of those.
DH and I had a mostly traditional Catholic wedding--even though Im Baptist. But it was the least I could do since his dm had to give up her dreams of a nice Catholic girl :p and also this is David first (and last) marriage so I thought he deserved the whole bit. I would have been happy going to Hawaii to get married--we did honeymoon there.

yes pammie...i am bella! bella am i!

all your weddings sound beautiful, but me? i want a big ol' bash! 300 guests, full sit down dinner, tons of flowers, you get the idea! :teeth:

darn! i missed tongue boy! i guess i'll have to catch the repeat!

Hi Pam!!--Nice ketchup..
Picked up my Direct TV today...:bounce:
Will call tomorrow about getting it installed...
I didn't know I needed a phone line.. ..

Anybody ever have to file a claim on ebay or half.com??
I am tired of looking for the file claim area...
Why can't anything be simple...

I feel so sorry for Rajah(Tammi)..:(

btw--our Wedding didn't have any alcohol...
Would anyone here still showed up??:duck:..j/k.;)

Forgot to ask if anyone seen Orli last night or was it the night before???
I think he was on Letterman...or was it Leno???

Todd, I am feeling awful for her too :( Really breaks my heart when friends hurt like that... and I wish there was something I could do... :(

Pammy Cakes, excellent ketchup there!!! I agree... off with her head!!!

LOL, Alan... where you come up with these, I don't know, but I am glad you do :p

Tongue boy=cute? Been drinking Sherry? ;) Sorry Bella, couldn't resist!!! :yo-yo:

Bella, I forgot to tell you that I did all the flowers myself. Bad allergies here so they were all silk... saved a fortune (and still have flowers left from it)!!

Todd, I still would have come to your wedding! Didn't know about the phone line either for Direct TV!

Hey Todd! :wave2:

Orli was on Leno and I wanted to see him but couldn't stay awake.

I beleive they had a lot of relatives who were ministers as well as their own pastor. They probably had one officiate, and others give prayers at various points. I did not attend, but I have been at weddings where more than one minister officiated.

Heck, most marriages can use all the prayers they can get from as many people as they can get anyway! :p
