Morning all! Sleepy but up and have been that way for about an hour!

Tara, my day? Just know it involves cleaning a lot, laundry, burning hand while ironing, bonking head while chasing cat out of place shes shouldn't be, baking a cake and not liking the end result, and stomach hurting a lot from hiccups that come back at odd times (like as soon as I wake up). Sounds tame, but there were moment I was not happy!!!

Bethie, you sound so busy lately!!! I can't believe how much you do have to do! But yes, choir always puts me in a good mood. Due to the people more than anything else :)

Nancy, if I had little towel situations like that, I'd be just as excited too!!!! The only time I got anything half that elaborate was when I stayed the the Polynesian. Though a few times at other resorts had decent returns.

Karen good luck with the Fantasmic dessert!!!

I have to check out what time Michael's opens... need to go there to get something.

Morning All,

Its FRIDAY!!!! and Im off. Not that I havent been off three times in the past two weeks. They are messing with my arthritis meds and its giving me fits. Busy day planned today. I have two appointments, my youngest ds wants me to pick him up from school rather than him go to aftercare, and I have to pick up my eldest from the bus when it comes. Somewhere in there I have to stop at Petco LOL.

Went to eldest ds's school open house last night. Heard a lot of nice things about him. He even got to give a small dissertation on something in front of a room full of parents. I talked to his math teacher and she actually told me he was one of a very few that got an A on the interm report in her class. She is tough but good and very nice. All his teachers seemed very nice. The softball coach was so funny last night. Eldest ds had a game yesterday and because he is a sub they didnt play him at all. Both dh and I were there to watch the game. We were not upset that he didnt get to play but the coach last night appologized up, down, sideways, and backwards for not putting him in. We kept telling him there was no reason to appologize that that is part of being on a team. Sometimes you get to play sometimes you dont but he just kept on and on about how sorry he was and how embarrassed he was.

Suzanne your mom and you are in my thoughts and prayers kiddo.

Karen I hope you get the ressie you want today!!!

Elaine sounds like you had a busy day yesterday. Hope today is much more relaxed for you.

Nancy good luck on getting all your pictures restored.

Paula OUCH!!! I am so sorry you got hurt. You will be in my prayers that you heal quickly.

Welp I guess I better do a little cleaning here before I have to leave. I will checkin laters.

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

Just a quick good morning.

Today's the day I find out if I get the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet for the night I arrive at Disneyland. Wish me luck :)

JellyrollsKaren

Good luck. It was nice...but be prepared to be squished!!

Headed out soon for a day with Christin. Shopping, lunch and movie.

Hope everyone has a good one

well, I made it back to work today.

Good news is the smart*** is being pulled from my class  I told his teacher that he seemed like a "nice" kid but he really wasn't meant to be in my class!

Rough morning here....I worked out but apparently I forgot that it required waking up. so when we had to take our 10 sec pulse rate...I just stood there with my fingers on the side of my throat. Completely forgot what I was supposed to be doing. :rotfl: Oh well!!

Jarrod got up in the same ill mannered way in which he went to bed...made me grateful that I was going to work!! hehehe

Ate too many doughnuts on the way in (Krispy Krack!...they are my stress food). But hey I matched it with a DIET coke! hehehe

Elaine...sorry your day had so many bumps, lumps, and pains!! I guess you could relate to the story I read yesterday for a warm up activity...Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day!!!!

Nancy...cool pics. I love towel animals. One of the first threads I read when I joined the dis was one on the news and rumors board about towel animals...it had me in tears it was so damn funny!! That was when I lurked and didn't post!

JRKaren...good luck on the dessert buffett....heck I'd like a dessert buffet right about now!

Pam...heck I'm even up for roadkill stew...can you tell I'm a stress eater!! hehehe

Alan...bring that darn drink over here and make sure you were heavy handed with the liquor!!

Beth...glad your night at the store went better. I would love to scrap tonight...you know punch a kid here, punch a kid there!! :teeth:

Karen...you all sound like good sports parents...not every kid can play...sounds like the coach is pretty good too!!

Okay, enough playing while the kids test. This class is great. They are still asleep so I don't have to fuss too much!! hehehe Not to mention one took today off!

more later!!
tara

Good morning, all! Happy Friday!!!

LOL!! Laine, you don't know HOW busy I am now!! We're back to wondering if I'm going to run into myself coming or going. The good news is that my new schedule at the store is giving me off on Saturdays!! I couldn't believe it last night when I got next week's schedule and it's the same as this week's! It's especially nice, cuz Dave has been wanting to go to the Renaissance Festival, so guess what we're doing tomorrow?! I have a feeling next week will be closet cleaning

Nancy, you really lucked out that trip with all the towel animals! Now that we're DVC, we don't get mousekeeping every day, so we rarely get anything more than clean towels on the racks! December of 2003 was a cute one, though--came in to find a Mickey head made of 3 towels rolled into circles, wearing my goofy light-up Christmas tree earrings! My most favorite, though, was on our very first DVC trip. We opened the door to our VWL room and were greeted by a sweet little towel angel, sitting on the ledge of the mirror on the wall in the little entryway. To this day I wish I had taken that angel home with me!!

So, does anyone know how to go about finding out how much old record albums from the 40s and 50s are worth and then selling them on eBay? I know some of these are real collectors items, but I don't know where to get a value on them.

Back to the grind for now, though......hope everyone has a great day! :grouphug:

Hi all - I'm still hobbling along....

Tara - I have a big empty room here that you can crash in - and plenty of beverages!!

Suzanne - hugs and prayers for you and your mom.

Nancy - loved the pics.

Not much going on here - I'm tired of doing nothing - hate the donut!! Most confortable lying down but getting bored with watching TV. Did watch season premier of O.C. last night - been talking to Alyssa alot online - she seems homesick.....taught Chris to do laundry last night - quite interesting.....
Gotta move - sat here long enough - hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Doing a take 2 on the cakes today. Since I wasn't too keen on the recipe from yesterday, I got one from a friend of mine at church. She sent me an awesome one that her husband drooled over. Pretty simple too. Eggs are a wee bit cool still so I am waiting a few more just in case.

Karen, did ya get the Buffet? I agree with Nancy, it was *very* cramped there. But a neat view! Worth doing once, I think :)

Tara, yeah, that story seems to fit some for me :teeth: But dang, forgetting what to do to take your pulse? I think that's why I leave it to my electronic stuff on my bike :p

Bethie, I would just start doing google searches album by album. Some are seriously only worth $.25 each... others up to about $4. Only mint conditions go more than that. If you need to unload them, I love 45s :teeth:

Paula, sorry about your being stuck recovering. Are you still working as hard for work too? Oh, this isn't getting in the way of your trip is it? :(

Hi Elanie - thanks for the good thoughts - I am out of work till at least next Wednesday. I am not going to let this get in the way of my trip - thangfully with just the 2 of us going it was going to be a more relaxed "spend time at the pool" vaca.

I got the dessert buffet! Woofreakinghoo! October 9th at 9:00 p.m. (or more like midnight to me--since that's the day I arrive).

I had Disneyland vacation planning take care of making the ressie for me. It was nice not to have to stress about getting through on the phones :)

Elaine, it's not just regular old 45s--these belonged to my grandparents. There are soundtracks of Broadway shows, in sets. Some, like South Pacific, are on blue vinyl!! And they are still in the original cases. Got a bunch of 78s in there, too.

Paula, I am sooooooo very sorry about your injury! I broke mine shoveling snow when I was 12--still can't sit thru a 3 hour movie without it starting to ache again. Hope you heal fast and are soon back to all your activities! Nice that you are able to stay in such close touch with Alyssa, isn't it?! Don't worry about her being homesick, it will pass!! And now Chris is doing laundry?? Remind him to NEVER put a red shirt in with a white shirt--even if they are both permanent press and he's using cold water!! It wouldn't be so bad if my "new pink" blouse was evenly colored........

  Whoofreakinghooooo, indeed, Karen!!! Did they tell you what seat you got?! You'll LOVE it!!!

Elaine is correct. Believe it or not, most of the value in old record albums is in the cover art. Very few people care about the actual albums. 45's are a different story because all those people who own or refurbish jukeboxes are interested in the actual records.

I've got around 1000 45's in boxes in our basement. And quite a few albums as well. My turntable is hooked up to my PC so that I can copy albums which are not available on CD.

Good luck unloading your collection. Since the albums are from the 40's and 50's, you might try a local antique store. I think that they might qualify as antiques although you might not get very much money for them.

Woo hoo Karen! So glad you got in!!! Be sure to tell us how you liked it when you got back. And it is probably smart to stay up until 10 PM your first night anyway... I made sure that I didn't when I was there just to get meon a good schedule in LA.

Paula, I am so glad that you are off work. I couldn't imagine dealing with the tailbone and the people you work with at the same time ;)
I am also very glad to hear that you will be going on the trip still! I was worried when it hit me that you were suppposed to leave in a few weeks. I forgot, which resort are you staying at again?

Bethie, I'd still google the names and see. The records I buy go for about $1-5. As John said, they do go for artwork. Best ones are in their original case AND in mint condition (never opened). Otherwise, if they've been used (even carefully) you won't get much for them. If you have a ton, it might be more worth it to sell them to a used book place. But research iwth google first and see what you might get if lucky on e-bay.
Not sure if they are antiques or not... I can ask my uncle (who's in antiques) but usually things have to be about 75+ years old to be considered that.

John, I am jealous. I only have about 75 45s and my record player isn't hooked up to my computer. I do happen to collect 45s myself when I can find them, but only because they are dirt cheap! And then they also have to be in excellent playing condition for that as well.

Cakes are done. Dishwasher running... making and playing with icing next :p

My folks have a victrola that has never worked since before I was born. It has 3 albums (similar to photo albums) filled with 78's.

I don't even want to think of what it would cost, but I would love to have that fixed one day.

Hi Elaine - staying at Villas at Winderness Lodge...

Pam was so very kind to post to my "broken tailbone" thread - man - not it hurts from laughing......com'on Alan - I'll be dissapointed if you don't have a comment.....

PAM!!!!!

Get your behind in here and post too

Alan, that sounds like a neat thing to have. I bet it would be awesome if they fixed it!

And here I thought it was cool we still had a working 8 trak player ;)

That's what I thought you had said, but I wasn't 100% sure. I think you'll have a lovely time there no matter what, Paula. And if anything it is a gorgeous resort to be at for relaxing :)

My buddy Dan has an 8-track player in his fully restored 1979 Trans Am. I have been collecting all of the 8-track tapes that are donated to our church's two annual rummage sales. Seems that nobody buys them anymore and they are glad that we take them off their hands (for a small donation, of course).

Now if I could just get my hands on a working 8-track recorder.....

:confused3 What? I was only doing my duty as a good Editor to report the news in a truthful manner!!

:rotfl: ELAINE! I'M HERE!!!!!! BUT I'M TOO LAZY TO CUT AND PASTE MY COMMENTS!

DD is home and is updating our website with Hurricane Katrina news blurbs. Then 3 of us are off to the HS football game. It is still hard not seeing DD on the field as part of the danceline. :guilty:

JUST FOR LAINEY!! :love2:

Paula,
That's not what all the old men down at the Legion tell me. They are still talking about your "Dance of the Seven Veals." Six of them required extra oxygen - they say you were that good.

Well -- until the 'incident' where one of your veals became unattached from your costume and fell to the floor.

You poor thing - you were dancing and flailing with such primal abandon that you didn't realize that the left shank had deserted you -- until you slipped on the hunk of meat and crashed to the floor.

I hear that it was quite a sight to see -- the men lined the sidewalks and the building and gave you a hero's sendoff as you were loaded into the ambulance!
 :Pinkbounc

If you could spare a prayer or two. My 18 year old cat is missing. I have not seen her all day. Dh is out looking for her now.
