gonna head to bed soon. Ate too much stuff with MSG today (doritos and roast beef) and have had a headache all day. Just took some drugs so that should help!! (I get more headaches now that I quit taking my daily meds for them! Its cheaper to pop excedrin pm occassionaly rather than pay for an rx!)

anyway, I finally voted for someone who won!! but they interrupted L&O:SVU! stupid news people!!

Beth...congrats on the condo!! yippee!!!

Thanks for the smiles guys - it really helps - wish I could tell you things are getting better - well they are between Chris and me - I am trying to move on - wish I could say the same for DH - Chris crying again tonite- DH refuses to speak to him - says he is grounded till school get out ......ugh......

So right- parenting - not always fun - no manual - heart breaking - love every minute.

Pam - love the boxer idea!! We have the pickle ornament - I gave it to Alyssa to years ago.

I don't have a dancing banana (sad I know) - I do however have a pirate that doesn't do anything....

Baking....tomorrow. Some kind of pumpkin cookie I think I'll decide for sure in the morning.
Did I tell you the toffee like ones made with soda crackers were one of the gangs favorites....and then last weeks pear cheesecake ones were too. Going to be tough to beat those 2 weeks.

I am laughing at the reasoning for doing it... the crush's family doing it!!!!
I admit some how our family did aquire a pickle, can't remember the details of why really but that it was used on the tree. Sadly we never adopted the other rituals with it.

Tara, I hope you are feeling better today! MSG can get me now and then... usually when I am eating a ton of Sour Cream & Onion chips

Paula, I do hope things with Chris and your DH will improve. Do we need to go cheeto him a little just to make him "lighten up" some? Nothing big, just a snack size cheetoing might work!

A bit tired today! We had awful storms blow through again last night. SO much so that even Luis woke up to check out what it was like outside!!!

Good morning, all! So now we have ripe bananas, green bananas and dancing pickles, too??!! Tooo funny!!

I learned about the pickle on the Christmas tree from a Christian bookstore catalog. They called it a Polish tradition, so I asked my dad, since he was 100% Polish. He remembered his grandparents doing it, but since his mom was born here, she was determined to be American and didn't continue the tradition. How it got attributed to the Germans, I don't know, but it really WAS a Polish tradition, at least in my ancestry.

Whooo-hooo for Jared's straight A's!! He deserves a few dancing bananas for that!!!

Nice haircut, Laine! I had mine cut like that back in the early 70s, not knowing it only works well on nice thick hair like yours. Looks really good on ya, girl!

Paula, I'm so sorry your DH is just making things worse with Chris. Hopefully, he will relent eventually, given enough time. I guess it's kinda like the zero tolerance thing--it takes of court of law and a daggone good argument to show him that he's wrong.

Karen, the 3rd bedroom has already been promised to Liz, but you can have the deck or share the garage with one of our cars! There's probably enough room in the living room for a couple of big airbeds even AFTER we get our furniture in there. We could have one heck of a slumber party!

Sending lots of headache curing PD in your direction, Tara. Hope you were able to sleep it off and are feeling much better today. I checked out your other thread and I'm so happy to hear that despite the day to day frustrations, the kids are actually showing progress already! Just goes to show how lucky they are to have you for a teacher. You have every right to be proud of them and you should be proud of yourself for doing such a great job with them!

Nancy, I think you've inspired me again. I made apple crisp last night and now I'm thinking about whipping up a batch of cookies. The girls at my store will be thrilled!!

Paula - tell your DH not to dole out any punishments until after he's had a chance to cool down and think things through. I am speaking from experience here!! A hard lesson I learned a few years back. I had a tendency to over-punish and wasn't fair at all in my reasoning.

Nancy - everything sounds so yummy!!

Elaine - yeah - someday DD can tell her children, "This is a tradition our family acquired from one of my old crushes!"

Beth - well, Polish makes even more sense for us - DH's Mother's side of the family came from Russia, Poland, and Lithuania. His Dad's side is Scottish on one side and German on the other. Mine is pretty much Irish, Scottish, and English.

And I do feel for you on the hair thing, there are many cute styles out for medium or fine hair that I wanted to try only to find out my hair is too thick and frizzy like for them. I think i wish I had done this one a while ago though.

Paula, while going through recipes, you ought to bake something too... tehn share it with us all! I guess I should just go get my own food though instead of trying to get someone else to cook for me
