Hey All,

Just checking in. Went out to din din last night and tonight. We just need to eat something besides canned stuff. Last night was extra special because we got the server that knows us so well at our fav restaurant. It was so nice to have some semblence of normalcy. She knows exactly what we order and exactly how we like it. She is such a fun lady too. Today has just kinda been a do nothing day even though there is stuff to do here. I think dh and I have finally hit the this is enough stage and we just needed a down day. We have spent a lot of time talking today and cuddling. Both of us have been really good about keeping our emotions in check because of the kids. We spent the better part of an hour this morning though venting to each other which was good for both of us. His parents have acted like selfish self centered people through this and we were both rather upset about it on top of everything else. We have decided that we are going to get away for a weekend to Disney as soon as we can. We need to get away. We probably wont go to the parks because of the cost of tickets but just spend time at the resort in the pool and at Downtown Disney.

Suzanne Im glad you were able to get out how you are feeling to your brother. I hope he takes what you said to heart and realizes how badly he acted. Yummmmm Suzanne that dinner sounds wonderful. I would love to see you if we could when we go up to Disney.

Sherry congrats on being able to get into the parks for free!! Thats so wonderful!!! I am so happy for you!! You will have to let us know what resort your MIL will be working at so we can go over and say HI when we are up there! Where is your SIL working?

Elaine any cookies left??? I think Disneyland for a new thread would be great!

Paula I hope you have a great time with Alyssa. Im sure Chris will be fine.

Nancy CHISTMAS CARDS already??? Wow are you organized!! I havent even given Christmas a thought yet. I know I should but I just cant get my brain around the fact that it is next month LOL!

Im going to go call Disney and see what they might have open for Thanksgiving weekend. Maybe something has opened up.

Geez, Nancy - can you imagine the damage we could do together on a shopping trip??!!

We haven't had our photo taken for our annual Christmas card -- it gets hard when DD is at college and then comes home and spends all of her time either at her BF's and friends. Then the 2 guys are always out in the woods. I am thinking of having my pic taken with the dogs, cat, and hamster!

I do have the cards for the business, I'm hiring DD to sign and address all of those.

Karen - kudos on the generator! My MIL has always had problems with her power - she lives out in the boonies. A couple of years ago my DH talked her into buying a generator and she's never regretted it.

Pam now that we can get gas the generator is a blessing. The kids have been able to watch TV, we have had some light in the house and we can use the computers. We have not hooked up the fridge to it as we shut it off at night and it seems silly to hook up the fridge for only part of a day. We shut it off at night because we dont want to make our neighbors crazy with the sound....not that everyone in this area is as caring about it. Many run 24/7. We will be smarter next year and stock up on gas before hurricane season. We also now know how much gas it uses which makes it easier to judge how much gas we need. We were told it used a lot more than it actually does use. Live and learn. Everyone down here has learned a lot from this experience and I know at least for us things will be a lot different next year on how we prep. LOL we have actually talked about moving to Tennessee though.....somewhat laughingly and somewhat serious.

Welp dh is about to turn off the generator so I best get my computer shut down.

I can do enough damage by myself. KimRaye and I collaborate some too....dangerous!! We like the same things....and seem to collect them.

Morning All,

Im sure our neighbors arent going to be happy but we turned the generator on. Its flipping HOT!!! Im sweating. A cold shower is actually going to feel good this morning. Its only 7:15 and already 80 degrees here. You know whats really sad too is Im actually getting used to instant coffee ROFL!!!!! I called the Swan and Dolphin last night, talked to dh, and booked a room for Thanksgiving weekend. We were able to get a pretty decent Florida Resident rate. It will feel good to get out of here for just a bit. We originally felt bad about going away for a holiday because of my inlaws but after the way they have acted through all of this we no longer feel badly about it. We are so disgusted by his parents actions that both of us have really had it. The topper was that they called us last night to let us know they were back down here, never asked to talk to their grandchildren, complained about their tiny bit of damage, bascially told us not to ask if we could stay with them.....we werent going to ask anyway, and announced that they would NOT be meeting us at church this morning because MOM doesnt feel like getting up early! Shows you how much they care about their grandchildren. I dont care about anything to do with us but I do care about how they are treating the kids. Oh well their loss.

Karen, great that the generator is doing it's trick for you. I am sorry, I probably would be a 24/7 user if I had one. I would want my refrigerator. Great on the Thanksgiving weekend ressies! You certainly could use a get away. Sorry about the in-law thing. My MIL was like that for some reason she never was interested in her grandkids. For me I didn't care, for them I felt bad. But there was nothing I could do to chang it so I just kept trying to be there for her when I was allowed--she pretty much didn' t let us get too near her. Boys had a lesson in life that not all people are close and all....

We have high winds and T-storm warnings for our morning. I am sitting and looking southward seeing very dark clouds and lightening. It is not raining here yet, but I am going to power down for a bit I guess.

Want my cuppa and definitely NOT instant!

Good morning all. I need to finish getting ready for church so just a quick hi here. I was up half the night thanks to some awful storms that blew through. Guess we are in for a bad day weather wise. As long as I can sleep, what do I care though

Good morning gang.

Glad everyone made it through the dis shut down!! I was in bed by 1130 last night.

Why is it when you CAN sleep in you CAN"T??????? Yesterday morning the baby didn't get up until a little after 9. Me I was awake at 8. This morning..the little schmuck is still sleeping and I've been awake since 730!!!!! Now tomorrow when I have to go to work, my body will want to sleep in until noon!!!

Anyway, we are supposed to be going to Williamsburg today to the outlets. But the kid is still sleepin, so I'm letting mom sleep a bit longer...but I'm showered, fed, dressed and ready to go!! So here I sit, waiting for them to wake up. I'm not sure which is worse..waking a sleeping baby or waking a sleeping grandma!!!!

Anyway, you all have a great day. If I end up not going to Williamsburg i'll be back. Otherwise I will check in tonight or tomorrow morning!!

Well, looks like the storm show this morning was just a bit south. Whew! It is windy here, but those black clouds and lightening remained south.

I'm going to an open house today just to try to get a feel for what's available out there since I know I'll be moving within the next year or so. It's a two bedroom condo in a complex not too far from my house. I won't tell you how much it is because most of you will be shocked. LOL.

Hi all, back from church and lunch. The rain, thunder & lightening has passed, but it is super windy today. I always worry about roof stuff during days like this... though I half wish we had a big enough gust to destroy a tree... no such luck

Karen, I will honestly say, if you think you will avoid bad weather in TN, I'd look harder. They get the terrible flooding (like we do) after the hurricanes hit. Ice storms as well as tornados. I don't think I'd enjoy that weather any more than here! But, always fun to look at other places. Hey wanna trade? I always wanted to move South

Lily, yep we got some very bad stuff here. Luis slept through it all (he always does) but this was a storm that woke me up several times. Had the cats on edge too. Not too keen on the wind either... stupidly didn't bother wearing my hair up today.

Tara, I hate when that happens. Next weekend I have absolutely *nothing* to do... with my luck I won't get any extra sleep at all

Karen, I've heard some of the prices out there in that area... puts some of our area to shame, though I bet most would be shocked (save CA people) with what we spend here. Oh Beth might not be too shocked eitehr. Sad how high housing has become!

Pammy & Sherry, hope the weather won't be to bad for y'all today. I just can't wait for wind to be done... Luis has a fear of it... I always get concerned about him when he is out in it. Just hate watching him worry
