Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Hi Lisa! You've done so well, and the last pounds definitely come off slower than any others, so be patient. I'm also doing well with the exercise and that really makes a difference, or I'd be gaining it all back. That darn eating just is the problem. It's always nice to see you here. I think the one thread has made it better for so many to stick around this challenge.

Hi Kathy!!!!

Yeah, I'm just plain tired and really in no hurry to get there. I'm anywhere from 15-30 pounds from goal. Who knows. No hurry because, you know me, I have to be confident that I can hold it for life. More important than the actual weight loss itself. Way more important to me. It sucks that I'm so big - tall and big boned because my weight will sit and balance out high but that's life and I've got to accept that. It's always been that way and always be so. I've become very fit concentrating on exercise.

That's wonderful on the one thread. It truly makes me happy to see so many still here. And if it is one thread - fantastic. :thumbsup2 But for me it sucks. :lmao: I don't take to the one thread. It overwhelms me that I can't keep up and be as supportive as I would like. Or feeling bonded. Mainly because I have another thread on here. With groups I could keep up. I can't here. I just can't. But there's always a plus - it's made me focus alone on where I'm at. And as I get closer to goal I've realized that I really have to sit and learn how to maintain for sure. I'd hate to get to goal and have to white knuckle. I don't want that. Nope.

Good to hear you/see you Kathy. I'm glad that you have such a wonderful vacation awhile back.

What is your favorite movie or movies?

Mine are Sleepless in Seattle and City of Angels.

Hmmm, have to think about that.

I loved Fearless.

Princess Bride. Good Will Hunting. Unfaithful - first half. :lmao: :rotfl: until he died. :lmao: The Talented Mr. Ripley. Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Recently enjoyed Milk and Slumdog Millionaire.

More I just can't think. I'm missing a big one.

THanks so much for the love! I really needed your hugs and support. Yesterday was not fun. But in the end, DD is now feeling better!:cool1: AND we have a new van sitting in our garage right now! We had the old van towed to them and they claim they called around to a wholesaler that would take the car for $1500, with a blown transmission!:confused3 Maybe they'll strip it for parts? Anyway that just bumped our monthly payment up by $20, so everything did work out in the end.

However I am sure I'll get a "talking to" about calling in sick on Friday. I just couldn't leave DD at home alone with projectile vomitting. If not a talking to, then I'm sure I'll get the "evil eye" from some co-workers. Ahhhh, the joy!:rolleyes1

Good for you with your van luck- blown tranny and everything. Who cares what people think-- your family is first. Life's first.

Favorite Movies:
Steel Magnolias and Toy Story.
The Toy story movies are awesome.

I'm partial to musicals. Holiday Inn and White Christmas but the newest one to add to my list of musicals is Hairspray.
I love the classic holiday movies. I started buying them on dvd, figuring some day the vhs will be obsolete.

Friday QOTD - Do you have a final goal weight in mind, or are you working your way down, and as the weight comes off will you decide where you want to be?

My final weight goal is 150 by the time I go to WDW in December. That is a long way from where I am now so I have it broken up into smaller goals, like 10% of my body weight which is my goal for this challenge. One day at a time!

Saturday QOTD - What is your favorite movie or movies?

Love Actually and Pirates of the Caribbean (The Black Pearl)
Smaller goals are definitely key for losing weight. I've only seen one of the pirates movies, but forget which one. I'll have to get my son to watch them again.

QOTD: I don't know that I have a favorite movie, but if I had to say, i guess it would be the Notebook and maybe Dirty Dancing. I picked those because if I'm flipping TV and find them on I always seem to watch them again. Hopefully I will get some new favs soon, I just signed up yesterday for Netflix. The 14yo daughter was costing me a ton wanting to rent movies every weekend so her friends can come over and watch. Then I never manage to return them on time, so I think we are going to enjoy the Netflix thing.

As far as diet goes, I had a banana and some of those chocolate Quaker mini rice cakes so far this morning. Those things are great. Really cures my chocolate need!:rotfl: I have been trying to keep snack stuff around the house on weekends so when the kids have friends here they have something to eat. Well today I am just letting them fend for themselves. I have found that lately my will power isn't as strong as it was at the beginning of the challenge. If I fix cheese dip or something like that for them, I end up eating right along with them. So they will have to find something to snack on themselves! Oh, by the way the Boston Creme Pie sugar free puddings are great too! Only 60 calories and yummy!

Just want to way good luck to everyone on the weekend!:thumbsup2 It always seems to be tougher than during the week for me, but we can do it!
A friend of mine loves netflix. She has teenagers too, and they watch a couple movies a weekend usually so she gets her moneys worth. Weekends have been my down fall too lately, so today, I'm journalling everything, and going to have a better weekend.

Well this is timely. I caught part of Joe VS the Volcano yesterday and realized that I love love love that movie-- can't get enough of it. And I've seen The Money Pit roughly 1000 times. I think it's safe to say Tom Hanks is officially my favorite actor. Every time Turner and Hooch is on I watch it too lol. So probably the goofy Joe vs Volcano would be favorite right now at this time in my life.

popcorn::
The Money Pit is a great movie.

I saw POTC in the theater 25 times :-)
I guess you'd reccommend it?:rotfl:

Well I did the stepper/treadmill then swam for a 1/2 hour yesterday had muffins for breakfast (free day old bread at the pool) costco samples for lunch, and stew for dinner(with some jalapeno cheese bread-also from free bread Thursday lol)and I'm back down a pound today :cool1: o calorie butter spray on the bread though lol. That stuff's actually pretty good.
I think I'm going to have to accept the fact that I really am prone to retaining water. I saw that a biggest loser episode is on at 6pm tonight and that channel (fln) usually has the most recent on so I'll get to see the second half tonight hopefully. That show really does help I think. I sort of have another good motivating thing-- I have a green tshirt that last year I couldn't get into for St. Patricks Day. I intend for that to be comfortable this year. :thumbsup2
The scale can be so frustrating with it's daily changes. I wish I didn't step on it every day. My sister just got over the flu and said she threw her scale down cellar because she didn't lose an ounce.

I had 4 cookies last night - but I still ended the evening in my calorie range, so I'm ok. Today is going well. We are going out to dinner tonight. I'm planning on eating a completely clean dinner and prove to myself that I can eat clean when I eat out. I want to do this at Disney, so I'm trying to practice. The kids and I went out last night (DH came home at midnight last night after being in Florida for two weeks) to our chinese/japanese restaurant. I had a salmon avocado roll with brown rice and a seaweed salad. All clean and very yummy. I was proud that I only had one roll instead of two. Even though I was a little hungry a few hours later and that is when I ran into 4 cookies. But I stopped myself. Two of the cookies were fairly healthy. I think I need to make/find a really good clean recipe for cookies that I wouldn't feel guilty eating. I know there are some in some of my clean eating cookbooks.
You can do it tonight!!! I'm going out as well, for mexican, and I'm trying to plan what I will eat to stay on program. I'm definitely saving some points for guacamole and chips. At ww they were talking about having a glass of water first, instead of alcohol so you make smarter choices when it's time to order and you can stay in control when the food comes. I'm going to do that.
Hi Kathy!!!!

I know what you mean, the thread can be long and overwhelming to catch up after a few days off. It's is nice to see all the support, and the losses too. I'm not on a losing roll, but I'm not gaining overall either, so I'm happy. Living life, and enjoying it. Weight is just a number, and if your's is higher than others, that's ok, so long as you feel good, it's all good.

Hmmm, have to think about that.

I loved Fearless.

Princess Bride. Good Will Hunting. Unfaithful - first half. :lmao: :rotfl: until he died. :lmao: The Talented Mr. Ripley. Four Weddings and a Funeral.

My son is away for the night and I think I might try to rent Milk or Slumdog Millionaire. I watched some of the oscars the other night and pretty much the only movies i had seen were Bolt and Wall-E. Pretty pathetic.

THanks so much for the love! I really needed your hugs and support. Yesterday was not fun. Glad your daughter is feeling better and things worked out ok with the car. I love your movie list, being a child of the 80s as well.

My son has gone with my brother for the night, so I'm going to take a walk, color my hair, and relax for a while this afternoon. Maybe I'll watch a movie. I did ask that question so I'd get some good ideas for my night alone. (it doesn't happen very often)
Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Dona & Melanie - Speaking of musicals, I just watched Mamma Mia this afternoon. I thought it was very good.

Angie - You will love Netflix. I've had it for about 7 years now and I'm so spoiled. I love getting the movies in the mail and keeping them for as long as I want. I love to try workout videos and see which ones I like too. Good job on eating good. I made a fruit salad with about 5 different fruits in it yesterday and have been snacking on it when I get hungry.

Princess Vija - I had Dirty Dancing listed too, I just couldn't make up my mind, so I erased it.

Have a good evening everyone - Lisa

Friday QOTD - Do you have a final goal weight in mind, or are you working your way down, and as the weight comes off will you decide where you want to be?

Ok, thought it was time to chime in on the list. Still did not get to WW, my niece will be in the hospital for another week or so at least and my husband is still having a rough time. He suffers from clinical depression and right now, is having a bad bout of it.

But... my eating is fine and OP for the most part, have a great new trainer and have decided to train for the race in May anyway, even though my family will probably not be able to participate.

That is a scarey thought for me, but I need the focus.

Goal weight? Right now, just my darn 10% and I still have 20 pounds to get there. I gained at least 4 pounds this week - there, I said it. I weighed myself on the bathroom scales, which may not be accurate, but at least my weight is low enough now that this is an option.

Movies:

Pretty Woman
13 going on 30
Run Fatboy Run
Freedom Writers
Music of my heart
A Christmas Carol (with Allistair Simms)

These are just a few. I like chick flics, mysteries, who dunits, courtroom drama and "feel good" movies mostly.

Vija, great news about the van.

I am an employer myself and I know how hard it can be when employees call in sick, but I have never expected any employee to put the job before the child and I take a dim view of those employers that do.

Suck it up buttercup! The children must be first.

Getting off the soapbox...

Linda

P.S. Am reading a great book on eating disorders and boy do I see myself in it. I never saw myself as bulimic, but when I went to WW before, I starved and sometimes purged with laxatives before weigh in. I guess that may be a form of it.

I don't whittle off the pounds the way that I used to (and they never stayed off because I did not know how to eat), but thank heavens that I don't do that anymore.

Have a safe and healthy weekend friends.

Thank you all for being here :grouphug:

Gotta finish supper and go do the laundry - :laundy:

Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors. During May in my school many of the seniors are in and out of classes because they are taking Advanced Placement tests. I call the week the Tom Hanks festival. I show Appllo 13 to talk about problem solving and the history class watches Forrest Gump.

I'm glad to hear everyone likes Mama Mia so much. It is one of the first two movies I have coming. It and Nights in Rodanthe. (can you tell I did the movie picking this time!):goodvibes I have read Nights in Rodanthe. It was really a good book, so I'm sure the movie will be good too. I was on a Nickolas Sparks kick a few months back and read several of his books. He is a good writer, but his books have a tendency to be sad. After reading about 4 or 5 of them, I think I've had enough of his books for a while. I missed the QOTD last week when everyone told what they were reading, but I haven't read a book this year. I have been thinking of picking up my daughter's Twilight book and checking it out. She of course, thinks it is the best ever! What do you guys think, should I read the book before I watch the movie? Or should I wait and see the movie when it comes out on dvd soon, and then read the book? I know we have some Twilight lovers out there!

I've missed WI report, but did send in my WI. I am down 2 pounds! Whoohooo for that.

Vija, sorry about all going on in your life right now. Hope that the work folks get a life. You are so correct on your priority there. These times will pass.

Congrats to all last week for sticking with it. Good job to all the losers.

DH was doing quite well, I tagged with him to ortho doc so I could be evaluated for my aches and pains. Well DH got a good progress report and then my turn. We got into doc about 3:30 and not out until about 6 and I got x-rays of hips, back, knee, ankle. Determined my knee may be a feather tear of the meniscus and that will need tending some time. Back treatment was epidural, first good night's sleep in a long time these last 2 nights. It still all hurts, but so much better. I was able to w/o much better yesterday and today and hope that it continues.

QotD: weight goal 159. Some day.

Movies, I like most happy ending movies. Don't care much for the blood and guts and real life type movies. I live too much real life and enjoy losing myself in movies.

DH developed kidney stone and suffered through it yesterday and today. Poor guy always seems to have this after he goes through surgery. It's over and hopefully the rest is easy street for him now. Been tough days here.

Vija, I'm glad you were able to get everything taken care of!

Vija-I'm sorry about your car and DD. I admit I haven't kept up on posts this week -:grouphug:

Jess - Good luck with your levels. Is it possible you have a Gluten allergy?

Have a great week everyone

I suppose anything is possible at this point. I have decided to go ahead and schedule the allergists' visit because if it's not a food allergy the next step might be a gastro. Plus, I'm not sure if going to the allergist before my visit to the endo is the best idea in the world. Forgot to mention- I did lose .8 this week! That seems to be my magic number.

Dona & Melanie - Speaking of musicals, I just watched Mamma Mia this afternoon. I thought it was very good.

I bought the fruit to make a salad too, but haven't done it yet. The musical Dirty Dancing is coming to Boston, and I would love to see it, but I don't think it will be in the budget this spring.

:grouphug: Sorry to hear about niece. It must be so difficult for your whole family. Two people I work with have daughters who suffer from anorexia, and it is such a struggle for them. Depression is also so difficult, and you need to take care of yourself. That is great that you are going to train and plan to do the race yourself.
I hear you on the Bulimic thing. I did purge both ways at times years ago, but never would have called myself bulimic. It was only once in a while you know, denial is a beautiful thing.
Take care Linda. Sending good thoughts and prayers for your family.

I felt the same way about Twilight and my friend and her 14 yo daughter talked me into trying it, and I read it in 3 days and loved it, so give it a try.
I also just rented Nights in Rodanthe last night- love Richard Gere- and I really liked it.

Grease is a classic and I remember Princess Diaries was the last movie I saw before I had my son.

Congrats on your loss! Hang in there with your stomach.:grouphug: I hope someone will figure it all out for you soon.

I had a good day with eating yesterday, got some items marked off my to-do list and was able to get some crafting done. It is cold and raining here again today they are calling for snow but in our area, we always say we'll believe it when we see it. I made out our meal plan for the week so need to get to the grocery store this afternoon (hate doing that in the rain-but it must be done). Then plan on coming home and having a relaxing afternoon with the family.

Have a great day everyone!!!

QOTD: What is your favorite movie?

I guess I would have to say Sleepless in Seattle. DH and I went to see it on our first date over 15 years ago. Gosh we're getting old! After seeing all the "signs" in the movie, I started seeing the "signs" in my life that I was meant to marry DH. My old boyfriends licence plate was SCT and my new boyfriends name was Scott. As a 17 year old in love, those kinds of little things were really interesting! I still get warm fuzzies when I watch that movie!:lovestruc

I'm happy with my weight this week. I know I can do better, and I'm only about 4 pounds away from being below the "obese" section on the wii fit, so that's what I'm working for now!

It's Sunday and I'm still on track. Finally I think I'll have a totally OP weekend - about time. Last night we went to Friday's and I had a totally clean dinner (yeah- what a breakthrough as I really struggle to not order something that is bad for me - but tasty). I had a Cobb salad minus dressing, bacon and cheddar. It had lettuce, tomatoes, chicken (they were stingy on this - could have used more), avocado, black olives, blue cheese and a hardboiled egg.

It was super tasty and it was a great test to tell myself I could do this when I eat out.

I got up this morning and made some grilled chicken - we are off to another cheerleading competition. I will not be eating their junk, I have a grilled chicken wrap with lettuce and cherry tomatoes along with a serving of dried edamame (14g protein) for an afternoon snack.

Also my scale jumped down about 1.5 pounds this morning to a new number I haven't seen in a while. That was a nice present for keeping it clean at the restaurant last night. I would have been sad about not eating well and then I wouldn't have seen the loss this morning. It really makes me excited to see that I made the good choice and I was rewarded. I think that will be positive reinforcement for the future.

That's such a sweet story about your and your husband.
That's so great to so close toe getting out of the obese section. I was 3 pounds away from that last year, and slipped up so now I'm 17, but my next goal is to just be overweight. Good luck. You can do it!!!.

:thumbsup2 Awesome job, Melanie on eating out last night and it's great to see it on the scale to motivate you to keep going. Sounds like you are right on track!!

I ate out last night and used up most of my flex points for the week, and I'm ok with that. I've been tracking, eating well today so far.

Sunday QOTD- Do you have a more challenging time of day as far as eating goes? What can you do to make it easier?

For me, it's definitely evenings after my son is in bed. I am a snacker, and the big thing I could do is not to buy any junk food. If I plan an evening snack, microwave popcorn, or a slim-a-bear ice cream bar that is helpful, but it's stopping after one and not going back for more that is my problem. Tracking and writing it down before I eat helps too.

Sunday QOTD- Do you have a more challenging time of day as far as eating goes? What can you do to make it easier?

Oh, good question! My dreaded time of day is between when I come home from work and when dinner is ready. I am usually tired and hungry and so is everyone else in the house! I make it easier by having some veggies cut up and ready to go that I can snack on. That way I can snack on something healthy instead of something out of the pantry. It helps that the not so healthy snacks are pretty much out of the house now, too.
