Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Wow - I got so carried away with the questions and myself, I forgot to say
Congratulations Superstars!

Nice job this week!

For the rest of us - we might not be superstars this week, but there is always next week. :)

Maria - that's funny about the 4 leaf clovers! I don't mind the twists and turns, it's the tilty road that bothers me! And look at you, Ms. #8!!!

Carol - getting back on track is the most important part after a BAD weekend. Great job on your 5 this morning.

MA Pigletfan, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Did you order a dress in a smaller size? When I got married I was losing and was nervous to order something in the same size OR a smaller size.

Raenstorm - we should start an "I hate Comcast" group on Facebook or something. I am always having problems with comcast, for some reason.

First --Congrats to all the losers! I've been getting more exercise this week, by setting smaller goals.

I have a hard time staying off the scales --and then find it hard to not get discouraged if I'm up a bit -- even though I know that we can't let numbers run our lives.

Was wondering how often everyone weighs themselves?

Good luck to all!

Oh, and I am so excited about BL tonight. Regarding Joelle, I could see her making it to the final 5, flying under the radar, not a threat to anyone. She does kick up a little drama. I kind of feel bad for her. It seems like I've felt like her before - I want to lose the weight, but have a hard time feeling 100% in it, you know?

I weigh in more frequently than I should. I think when it's motivating, it can be OK, but when it gets discouraging, it can be better to wait longer between weigh ins - one week seems to be the standard. More than that and I get lazy, careless and forgetful.

I weigh myself each morning when I get up. Good or bad, this is my routine. It helps when I see the lower numbers, but also when they go up. My kids aren't around, so I talk to myself when it's a higher number, and some of the words aren't kid-friendly.

:rotfl2:

God afternoon every one Congrats to all the winners this week. I was happy to see my name in the top 20. It doesn't happen often.

I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday afternoon. It was too busy. Grocery shopping after school and then making a batch of meatballs and sausage. I have a friend who is undergoing chemo for breast cancer and I wanted to bring her family a meal that is easy for when she has a crazy day. Yes she is still teaching and doing chemo. We are starting to set up a calendar of people who want to help her out with meals for the family. We have a list of pizza places that people who don't want to cook can help her out with.

Who is your favorite author and what type of books does he/she write?
Janet Evanovich always makes me laugh. Nora Roberts is good for a romance. Debbie Macomber is good for a romance but also she has several books based on a knitting group and has patterns in each book.

If you like Janet Evanovich you will love Joanne Fluke. The thing you may not llike is that every couple of chapters there is a recipe for a delicious dessert. Her first book is called THe Chocolate Chip Murder and the book is filled with great cookie recipes. She also has 2 men interested in her like the Janet Evanovich books.

I like fun things. Especially in the winter. We have had a lot of dark and dismal days I know I have SAD and it helps me to watch only fun things on the tv or read.

Welll off to clean the kitchen. I made quite a mess yesterday and was too tired to clean up. I even fell asleep last night at 8 while watching Big Bang Theory (I am a math teacher who teaches a lot of very smart kids (last year's group were such nerds that if I didn't assign homework they would ask for it) and my ds2 is also a self proclaimed nerd (studying Civil Engineering and maybe minoring in mathematics)) so that show reminds me of my son and many of my students.

How is every one doing on the COW? I am running almost perfect again this week. Just 2 more days to go with this one.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone. Congrats to all the superstars!:cheer2:

So, when can I feel like I've moved on from a water weight loss to a real fat loss? Do you know what I mean? When you first start losing, you always hear, "well that's just water weight". I want to know this loss is real!

Another Janet Evanovich fan here! She is so funny! Grandma Mazur reminds me of Estelle Getty on the Golden Girls!

Weigh to go, WISHers! We are on track for a grand time. Congratulations to everyone who posted-loss or gain! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: (and to those who didn't because they are at Disney-my 2 sisters are-:p )

Brenda, enjoy that wee one while you can. :cloud9: Lisa, getting your youngster to read labels is a real plus. :thumbsup2 I try to show my Grade 1s and 2s that "Fruit snacks" rarely have fruit. When the first three ingredients are: sugar, glucose and fructose. . . . Buzz, I know that you only had the kids' welfare in mind, but we don't want anything going to waist! :upsidedow Eeyore's Butterfly. I don't imagine that I will ever make the top 20-but I've lost every week, even if just a hair, so that is success in itself. ::yes:: Jayne, my kitty is well over 20 pounds. When (his niece??) my daughter's kitty came to visit, she was like 7 pounds, dripping wet. I said it was because he: is a long-hair (so is she), is big boned, and is all fluff. ;) Bethany, good job on the Monday weigh in! :)

Tonight is Biggest Loser. Anyone think Joelle will STILL get to stay??? :confused3

Have a great day, everyone. Stay the course. You can do this, one step at a time.

And once more, to my sisters in Florida while I brave the -17ºC temps :cold:...:p

Joelle is not in the bottom two this week- Dan and (jared?) the 18 year old are. They showed that in the previews. I wanted Joelle off the show so bad.

Today was another good day so far. I am planning to go work out after Biggest Loser. I also got a lot of exercising done int he classroom. We did a hopping game to practice counting by 1s, 5s, and 10s (we're learning coins). I was also laying out a 10x10 grid on the classroom floor to do these kinds of games with.

QOTD: To quote Ever After, "I could no sooner choose a favorite star in the heavens." Soem of my favorite authors are:

-Jodi Piccoult. She writes fictional "issue" novels (but doesn't like to be thought of as an issues writer).
-Lois Lowry, especially the Giver trilogy
-Terry Goodkind author of Sword of Truth (fantasy) series
-Brain Jacques author of Castaways of the Flying Dutchman and Redwall series
-Stephenie Meyer author of Twilight and the Host
-Rick Riordan author of the Lightning Thief series
-June Rae Wood author of the Man Who Loved Clowns
-Steve Alten author of Meg and the Loch
-Melanie Rawn author of Dragon Prince/Token Series

And a sprinkle pixiedust: , I know you will do great.

Good luck tomorrow! :goodvibes

Sending some good luck your way!:cheer2:

I'm varied in how often I weigh myself. I only do it when I think it will motivate me.

QOTD: I don't have one favourite author, I have many ;)
David Eddings
Robert Jordan
Anne McCaffrey
the lady that writes the Shopaholic series

I feel like I've been away from the boards for so long. Really, just 3 days. But they've been interesting, let me tell you. When I got home from church on sunday I had 5 missed calls from my husband. He's in law enforcement, so I knew if he was calling me that many times while he was working something was wrong. I called him back and he told me he was fine, but to please meet him in the emergency room. Hmm...doesn't sound fine to me, but no need to panic until you have been told you have a reason, right? So I got back in the car and drove to meet him. We left 4 hours later with a diagnosis of a pulminary contusion (bruised lung) and a couple of cracked ribs thanks to an ATV accident. Lucky him. On the way out he said he would feel a lot better if we stopped to get him some Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. I hadn't eaten all day and had nothing that I could make quickly at home so I grabbed a frozen pizza too. I think I managed to stay within a reasonable calorie count on Sunday, but I don't think a single one of them were good ones. I was so tired and stressed from keeping the overexcited dog from jumping on her dad that I didn't care.

This week's weigh in won't be good I'm guessing. I haven't had time to work out, but I have been trying to control the calories for the most part. But even my water consumption has been down. Not good. But DH goes back to work tomorrow on light duty (something he's not to happy about, but it's not like he could physically stop someone if he needed to) so maybe I can get a couple of good days in before we go away for the weekend :thumbsup2

QOTD: My favorite authors are Tom Clancy (Jack Ryan series) and Jane Austen. But really, I will read anything. Thanks to everyone else for posting their favorites. There are quite a few that I will be trying!

This is a great question and I don't know for sure, but I know that WW warns against regularly losing more than 2 pounds per week after the first 3 weeks, which leads me to think that from 3 weeks on, it's all REAL. It could be earlier than that, too, for all I know.

I bet that was a scare about your husband.Glad he is OK.
I ,too, gave in to ice cream (on Sun)..and got off track a little with my diet over the weekend but I think you have to allow those times here and there and then just get back on it. Good luck this week!

Good morning Losers!:cool1:

I felt "out of the loop" since I hadn't really exercised in a while. with being sick last week, and going up north, it just didn't happen. Last night while watching the BL I got remotivated and this morning woke up and had a great workout!:thumbsup2 I did the new BL boot camp and it felt great. I was sweating! It works alot with weights, and I know I need that.

I also stepped on the scale this morning and I am so close to losing what I gained over the weekend, that I am hoping I can register a maintain this week instead of a gain. Keeping my fingers crossed!:goodvibes

DD10 is REALLY pushing me! Last night during the BL show she got up on a commercial and started doing jumping jacks, and she made me get up too!;) That was also very motivating. I am so glad she has gotten the urge to get healthier too.

QOTD: Favorite author... I have several, I really like historical romances. Linda Lael Miller, leigh greenwood, anna leigh, are my favorites. And of course LOVE the entire Harry Potter series. I'll probably start to reread them soon, with the new movie coming out in summer!:cool1:

Good morning all!

Yesterday was a much better day.

Lunch was food I didn't get to pick, but I just ate the sandwich and skipped the chips. Got lots of fruit and veggies in too!

Didn't work out this AM (I should have, but I was tired. Leading these classes wears me out!)

I head home tonight and will be there until Monday so that will help. Next week I am going to a new hotel near my office. Longer commute but I get both a fridge and microwave which means I have more "food options".

Princess Vija, Very impressed with your committment. (I missed BL last night was on a conference call until almost 9 and just forgot!)

Mybestieismickey, Glad your DH is ok. I think that 'Meet me in the ER' and 'I am fine' are mutually exclusive statements! :)

Have a good day everyone!

Well, I'm back from WDW and trying to get back into the daily routine. I weighed in Mon. AM and my weight was up more than I expected after the vacation. I behaved pretty well as far as staying away from desserts, but we did have Papa Johns pizza in the room one night (my favorite). The only bad dessert I had was the chocolate cream cheese buckle at CRT. It was probably at least 20 points, but I kinda figured that I paid $75 for that muffin and I was going to eat it! Now that I'm back on track, hopefully my weight will go back down this week.

DH just admitted to me yesterday that he is doing a biggest loser competition at work. Here I thought he was just being good to support me! He really doesn't have any weight to lose, but would like to tone up and get in better shape. He's off today, so we're going grocery shopping to restock the house with healthy stuff since we pretty well emptied it out before vacation. We're going back to WDW in 10 mos, and our goal is to look good in our bathing suits!

Hello everyone! I finally put together my pedometer. I bought a fancy smancy Omron months ago but never took the time to set it up. So ... I finally did it last night on the couch.

I measured my average stride and it's only 2'. I was supposed to walk normally right? Is anyone else's that small?

MA Pigletfan, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Did you order a dress in a smaller size? When I got married I was losing and was nervous to order something in the same size OR a smaller size.

Raenstorm - we should start an "I hate Comcast" group on Facebook or something. I am always having problems with comcast, for some reason.
thanks!! Nope i had them order what they thought would be a good size if i got married tommorow..i know ( positive thinking) they will have to take it in a lot when it comes in..but i would rather have that happen than it be too small!!

oh dear! i forgot our QOTD! so sorry! it's a snow day here, slept in a little, been chatting with hubby and kids, then worked out. during workout i remembered! oopies!!

QOTD: do you incorporate flexibility/stretching in your workouts?

i love yoga, i want to make more effort and time to attend a yoga class once a week. i do love my stretching though....especially one that stretches the piriformis...muscle deep in your buttocks and down the back of you leg

QOTD: I'm a big fan of stretching. I try to make sure I do a good stretch before I work out and more importantly after. If I don't I get really sore and tight. Not fun. I learned to stretch so much in high school when I played on the Volleyball team. The first and last 15-20 minutes of practice were spent in stretching and warming up or cooling down. I really think it saved us a lot of injuries that would have been avoidable.

More recently, I have started doing yoga and love it. On days when I don't have a lot of time to exercise, I try to at least get a half hour of yoga in. Or to finish a strenuous work out with it. I love the way I feel after. :cloud9:
