Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

I already did an hour of treadmill/stepper and am going to soak in the jacuzzi when I'm done posting. There's a fitness center and a pool at our hotel so I will take advantage of that.

Thought I'd mention that I didn't lose at all this week, but I'm ok with that

you are an inspiration! working out on vacation, that is soooo hard for me! also fantastic is that you are realistic on your expectations while away from your normal routine

Down .5 this week officially, but down .8 at WW. I"m having a ROTTEN week so I'm glad that I lost anything.

We CAN do this!!!!! One day, one BITE at a time!!

 here's to a better week ahead for you. I love your mantra -- one BITE at a time -- i bet many of us can relate to days like that!

I lost 1.5 pounds this week

Well, I began basketball once a week and getting more regular with the Wii Fit, and had a 7 lbs. loss this week.

I maintained this week.

I lost 2.6 this week (9 lbs total)

:woohoo: :woohoo: FANTASTIC!!!

Just popping in to say HI MOM!!!!!

and....

To say that I really feel as though I am getting into a regiment with my eating and exercising. I feel very weird if I don't jump on that treadmill in the morning and last night.... I had a mighty big craving for something sweet and was able to beat it by eating something that was sweet but WAY MORE healthy for me! This is a huge step! I had the chocolate covered toffee out on the counter and choose peanuts instead. I'm really starting to feel confident that I can do this!

 Hi karebear!
i love your comment about feeling like your new routine is feeling like the norm. that is big...I think so!

hope i didn't miss anyone!:flower3: i may not have the time everyday to reply individually, please please don't take that personally! i hope to, but you know, life and all :rolleyes1

and a hearty :thanks: to my2E's for posting recipes!!

QOTD: What can you do for yourself next week? something indulgent, a way to de-stress, some time to walk away from all that needs to be done and spend a little time pampering yourself, or enjoying a hobby that you don't seem to have time for?

I am going to give myself a pedicure!

donac - I'd like to offer a different perspective that I mean in a very respectful manner. I do not presume to know what is best or even right for your son. I just wanted to offer the perspective of someone who did travel when it really was unusual to do so. I know you are concerned for your son and certainly in today's economy - the money aspect is frightening. But as someone who was an exchange student in Japan during HS (25 years ago) - it changed my life. It was something I wanted so badly I worked every job I could and paid for every last penny that it cost and that I spent. I know my parents didn't want me to go. I know they were worried about the cost - they certainly didn't have any money! But working hard for something and saving for something and then learning how to budget my money while I was there and then running dangerously low on money and having to figure out what to do were all really important life lessons for me. Not to mention the wonderful people I met and the way the world opened right before my eyes was truly, for lack of better description, a life changing time. I am so greatful to have had the opportunity. If your son goes, perhaps this experience will be a turning point in his life. Good luck to you.

I'm down .2 this week. I expected a btter result as I have been very faithful to the program and even though I had an encounter with a bag of chips - I logged the points and moved on. So I'm logging this loss, no matter how small and moving on. Have a great week everyone!

Lisa

I have so much scrapbooking stuff and that dh makes fun of me because (and I'm embarrassed to admit this) - I've never done any of it. I guess its because I don't really know how or where to start and I look at it all and get overwhelmed and feel guilty for having bought the stuff and never used it. I would love to take the time to start it.

That happened to me last week, but I gained .2. It was very frustrating because I did everything right, including excercising. Don't let it get you down. Keep with the program and you will lose more next week. I did, and it made me feel so good that I kept it up and didn't ge discouraged.
Good luck!

THanks Lisa for the different perspective. We just finished putting him through college and just as he went out the younger guy went in so money is pretty tight for us. I would send him in a heartbeat if I had the money but it is going to be up to him to save and get all the arrangements.

Suggestion Take a large frame. Take out the back panel and us the panel as your guide. Cover it with papper. It does not have to be all the same and it looks better if it is not. Then take pictures and letter and fill up the frame. It will look like a collage but the pictures really stand out on the paper. I did this with a friend's daughter. We had all gone to DW together and she wanted to make something for her mother's birthday. Good luck

Well, I'm at the hotel, I'm ok with how I did last night I guess..They had dungeness crab cheese bread at the festival I couldn't resist, I was really hungry too. Did a few samples and some wine tasting and did great until I hit a booth that offered 10 tastings for $8 after that I was pretty well hammered. We did go to Burgerville as it was right next to our hotel :lovestruc , husband had 2 cheeseburgers- I probably ate about half of one and a few fries. Later sort of worked stuff off in the room lol. (yes too much information):rolleyes1
Today had one waffle,2 small glasses of orange juice, one biscuit and gravy and an apple at the hotel breakfast. The pool is indoors but you have to go outside to get to it so that's probably out, haven't found the fitness room yet lol, I forgot my glasses or I probably would have gone in search of it this morning.

karebear1 - Super on the routine!! It is a major accomplishment when you reach that stage - automatic instead of wrestling with exercise!! WTG!

OhMom, so cool that you took out the negatives and made positives!! :cool1:

goldcupmom - Hope next week is a better week for you! :grouphug:

njmom23grls - I was in the same "scrap" place you are now not to long ago. One day I sat down and just started scrapping - I've done 3 books so far and have 3 more in the works. I had looked at so many magazines and "stuff" that I was overwhelmed!! Good luck!! :thumbsup2

I really am trying to pay close attention to foods, which ones are healthiest. These changes have to be permanent. My DH has twice the weight to lose that I do and really is looking to me for leadership. So thanks for the recipes and the encouragement. On our 1 year anniversary this fall we want to have our wedding pictures retaken because we both are embarrassed when we look at them! The old ones can be our before pics!

QOTD: Thursday I am going to go have my hair colored as my pamper day!

I gained this week. I'm up 1.4 pounds. I'm still down from when we started though which is good.

I had sort of an off week and ate fried food a couple of times, which is not good. I'm getting back on track though.

I don't really have a plan for this weekend. I'm well stocked in healthier snacks and Dh and I worked out this morning.

Dh is having company today, so I'm just chilling and watching tv.

Hope everyone has a great week this week!! :cheer2:

Wednesday I know that DH & DS are going skiing and I don't believe myself or DD are going. I plan to use the day to work on a cross stitch piece that I've been working on for DH. It's hard to find time to work on it when he isn't around or that I have to worry about him popping in.

Down 1.6 lbs this week. :cool1: Hope next week is even better. Forgot my pedometer today at work :confused3

Congrats to all the losers this week.:cheer2: I'm glad to be part of such a great group of DIS'ers:grouphug:

Bad week for me, up 1.8. I did exercise, drink water and eat veggies though. Actually I weighed myself Thurday, made some really bad food choices Thursday night, and was up 4 pounds Friday! :faint:

So....back on track now. It's a struggle, really tough for me right now, my parents are both in Orlando, my mom's in the hospital having a tough recovery from her knee replacement surgery she had Wed and my dad found out he has to have his stomach removed b/c he has stomach cancer. This thread has really helped me when I want to grab the chip bag though - I've managed to keep pretty much away from it. And the exercise thread has kept me going on that end, so I'm going to learn to manage my stress differently.

I might have missed it - has the new COW been posted?

Today was a bust. I had work in the kitchen and it is so hard when I'm working there to stay on track. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new week. I am switching my weigh in to Thursday (so I can watch Biggest Loser. I also have a service fraternity meeting after that, so it ends up being a very long night for me. I think it will also put me in a better place psychologically.

If I have a bad week and want to start over on Sunday, I feel like it's just a waste because it's so close to the weigh in. Those two extra days just really help my frame of mind. I know that I can get back on this thing tomorrow and be able to post a loss this week. That is my goal for this week- to post a one lb loss on Thursday night. (I know I can... I know I can... I know I can...). I'm just excited that I get to sleep in tomorrow! First day off in two weeks! That's been part of it is just how tired I've been, that I don't have the energy to cook or do anythign healthy so I end up getting fast food.

I'm a scrapbooker! I ahve a couple of sights that have page out lays if you're interested. It makes scraping much easier if you don;t have to think about where to put what. It would makae itu very easy for you to start. Just let me know if you're ineterested and I'll p[ost the websites. They are free!

Thank you!! It is a major accomp;ishment for me... mostly because I really have never liked exercise- but, for some unknown reason, it much easier for me this time around. I think it might be that Bodybugg I got. It has really been good in the area of encouragement and helping me to know atht I real;ly don;t have "that much more to do" to reach my goal.

:grouphug: Sounds to me like you could use a great big hug!:grouphug: I know it's hard to deal with all this stuff. I just wanted to let ya know you (and your family) will be in my prayers. You're going through a really stressful time. Please take some time out for yourself- ok??

I found a quote that I thought was perfect for us.....

Victory is not won in miles, but in inches. Win a little now, hold your ground, and later, win a little more" Louis L'Amour.

Prayers coming your way for your Mom and Dad. Incredibly stressful -- but don't forget to take the time to take care of YOU too!

Here's this week's COW. For last week if you drank your water and ate your vegetables let Raenstoirm know today!

COW Week 3

Ok ladies and gents, time to add something new. This is where that pedometer comes in.

This week you need to….

Drink 8 cups of water a day
Eat 3 servings of veggies a day
Walk 5,000 steps a day ~about 2.5 miles depending on your stride
(the goal is 10,000 a day ~5 miles, but we will start slow. If you make 10,000 by all means let me know!)

Here is a refresher of the COW rules in case you are new or forgot. I will post a new COW sometime every Thursday. Each challenge week begins 12:01 am Friday morning and runs till midnight Thursday night. I figure posting the COW on Thursday gives you a little time to “plan” out how best to complete the challenge before the clock starts.

Please email or PM me your score by Monday morning of the following week. (So tomorrow’s challenge score is “due” the 2nd, although I recommend you pm or email it to me on Friday when you email Brenda your weight.)

If you chose not to do the COWs at all, or only get around to doing a few items on the list that is perfectly fine. The idea is to get you thinking and doing new things on this road to a new you, not to stress you out.

So here is how this version will work. Every Thursday I will post a new task to add to the previous tasks. This should help you establish good habits during this BL. I got this idea from the 12 days of Christmas song actually. So,

Week 1 all you need is the partridge and the pear tree
Week 2 you will need the turtle doves and the partridge
Week 3 you need the French Hens, turtle doves and partridge
And it goes on

So this week you will report...
I drank my 8 cups X days
I ate my veggies X days
and I walked 5,000 steps X days
Or if you are really good, I walked 10,000 steps X days!

QOTD: What is your strategy to stay on your healthy eating/exercise plan THIS weekend??
I know the weekend is half over and I'm a little late, but my stragegy for this weekend and hopefully the rest of this challenge is to plan out my meals. I made chili friday and will have that over the weekend, and went shopping and filled the fridge with lots of healthy fruits and vegies. I usually have egg beaters with salsa and cheese on toast for breakfast, or oatmeal and yogurt and fruit. If I have meals planned for the week, it's so much easier. We are going to a winter party today, and my friend made lasagne, so my plan is to have a snack before I go and have a small piece of lasagne. I am going to bring a ww keylime pie and one piece is 3 points, so that's all I'll have for dessert. I did a 4 mile watp yesterday, and will do the same this morning. I feel very satisfied after vacation, and motivated to stay on track now, and get back to where I was last spring. I just hope I can keep it up for more than a week.

Well,..... I'm down 1 lb. from last week, which makes my total loss come to 3 lbs. Now, some people lose that in 3 days, but for me.... it is a miracle! I have a very difficult time getting weight off, so I guess this little bit of weight coming off is a real gift. My Dr. said he'd love to see a 10lb loss by the time I go back to see him in 3 months. If I keep up this rate, I will have lost about 13 lbs. He would be so happy (as would I) with that loss!
Congrats on your loss. I'm right there with you on the slow losses. Over about 3 years I had lost 40 pounds, but put back on 15 this past year, so my average is really less than 10 pound a year. I think the slower it comes off, it is more likely to stay off. No matter how slow, it can and will come off. Stick with it and you'll reach that goal.

For the first time ever this coming week, I am going to try using all of my FLEX points. I have always felt, since their introduction, that the most virtuous thing to do is use as few of them as possible, but I've seen many people report greater success when they use them up. So I'm going to try it. :) I liked it better when years ago WW gave us a points range for the day - I like clear boundaries! I guess they have their reasons, though.
.
I've done ww for the past 3 1/2 years, a year on my own where i gained back 15 pounds, but when I'm am being faithful on program, I have found that I had better losses when I used most or all of my flex points. My leader always stresses that they are allowance points, not extra points and are meant to be used. I do think they help keep your metabolism up. Good luck this week. Enjoy them.
I'm sorry I haven't been around. I spent my birthday drowning my sorrows (turned 50 :crazy2: ) and then last week was just crazy.
.
Happy Belated Birthday!!party: 50 is the new 30!! Hope you enjoyed your day too. I'll be 45 next month, and am thinking i need to plan a disney cruise for my 50th. I'm an early planner.

Guys!!!! I can't believe the number of people that have lost and wish they would have lost more. Stop that! Really. Cherish your losses. Take this from someone who has been losiing for a long time - cherish. And the slower you lose it a lot of the times is about rational choices for life. That you can stick by. Trust me when you maintain or gain, which everyone does on a weight loss journey once in awhile, you will be thankful for such losses.

I am down .8 and I am beyond thrilled. And very proud of myself. Back story which I posted on here.

I am under a lot of stress right now. And I had emotional overeating for two to three days this week. And I hadn't emotionally overeaten for a long time. It surprised me. So I said if you can't control that right now - what can you control? Water and exercise. So I drank my water and exercised throughout all the eating. And I stopped the overeating by Monday by actually having the feelings. :lmao: :rotfl: And exercised consistently with an interval program.

And lost!!!

I'm so pleased with myself. And it's time in my life to shout that from the rafters instead of looking at any negative.

Kathy. :wave2:
Hi Lisa! I started reading your post before I saw it was you, and new it was you. You are always so positive and inspiring. I'm am thrilled with any loss now, and know it is a lifetime journey for all of us. We can do it. Good for you for keeping up with the exercise and water through all the stress eating and then overcoming it. It's so tough sometime. I hope things are less stressful for you soon.

Down .5 this week officially, but down .8 at WW. I"m having a ROTTEN week so I'm glad that I lost anything.

I may not be online much for awhile. My hard drive crashed last night (due likely to a DH error!) I"m on a clunky old laptop, and don't know how it will hold up.

Between that, mortgage pmts not received, DS19 car broken down, and TOM deciding to show up after 4 months, I'm really fighting the urge to eat everything in sight.

More later if I can! We CAN do this!!!!! One day, one BITE at a time!!
:grouphug: Hang in there. It sounds like a bummer of a week, but keep fighting those food urges. They won't help you and you'll feel worse after.

I too have way more scrapbook stuff than I have completed scrapbooks. Try to start with something small, like an event with just a few dozen pictures and pull out the stuff an play with it. It is fun and can become addicting, with the added bonus that it is hard to eat while you are scrapbooking becaus you don't want to get crumbs on you project. I buy a small 5X7 scrapbook each trip to disney we take, and it comes with the pages and stickers, and I like to do that right after we come back, and then eventuallly i'll do the large scrapbook. If you have disney pics, there is a board with lots of suggestions and layouts. I keep mine pretty simple, mostly pictures with a few stickers, and borders. Give yourself the time to start. you deserve it.
Good luck
That's a great idea. My son took a bunch of pictures and he wants to scrapbook them himself, but I know he'll lose interest quickly, so I might suggest this idea to him.

So sorry about your folks. I hope your mom is feeling better soon, and your dad's surgery goes well with an uneventful recovery. It must be so difficult to be far away. Good for you for staying away from the chips, and exercise is definitely a stress reliever.

Thanks so much for the thoughts, prayers and hugs...it all helps! :grouphug: to all of you.

Hello folks - just catching up, but wanted to start with this. Jenz, my thoughs and prayers are with you and your family. It is so difficult to stay on track with your life in such turmoil.

Good for you for doing it anyway.

You are on my mind today.
