Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Good morning everyone!

The problem with being in California is that a LOT of you have been posting for hours before I even get on.

This will have to be a quickie. I have a meeting in just a few minutes.

I MADE myself go to the hotel Treadmill last night (this is not a nice treadmill LOL!) Did a little over 2 miles in 30 minutes. Actually it helped, I was really dragging before then. I also stocked my hotel room with some veggies, fruit, Special K bars etc for the rest of the week. (I have my little bag of snacks next to me now!)

Yesterday was not good foodwise. Breakfast was fine, dinner was a "dry" salad (none of the dressings on the salad bar at Ralphs looked at all edible :rotfl2: ) Lunch however was a "bust" I used all my points and then some. Today's a new day! This is one of the hazards of travel, lots of temptations.

Did watch MOST of the BL but I used the mute button a lot too. (I don't mind the screaming and the challenges, but the phone calls aren't any of my business) I actually turned it off before the very end. I know who was in the bottom two but not who went home. I know who I wanted to go home, but that didn't happen. Will have to go find out who got kicked out.

Question of the Day.

Hmm. Why do I want to do this.

1. I actually like the accomplishment of finishing a half marathon and figure it would be EASIER if I wasn't hauling around all this extra weight.
2. Women in my family live FOREVER! (One grandmother was 91, one was 87, my great grandmother shot herself at 90 plus when the MD told her there was nothing that was going to kill her anytime soon) So I want to be able to enjoy all those years. (Where I will be working at Disney part time LOL!)
3. I want to weigh at LEAST the same as my boyfriend. Less would be the long term goal. (He's one of those who can eat anything types!)

Have a good day!

Wednesday's QOTD: What is your motivation to lose the weight?

I have several answers to this one:
(1) We're planning on going to Hawaii for our 10-yr anniversary in July/August. I would LOVE to have some pictures of myself where I don't cringe.
(2) I'm tired of being tired. I want to have more energy.
(3) I want to set a better example for DD so that she never has to feel the way that I do.
(4) I want to be able to try on clothes and actually like the way they look instead of buying them just because they fit.

ME too!!! Who are your favorite authors? I love Linda Lael Miller, Leigh Greenwood, and Ana Leigh. I'm always looking to find more great books and authors.

I love LLM too. I also like Kate Bridges, Judith Stacy and Carol Finch. My favorite book is Years, by Lavyrle Spencer. I mostly read harlequin historical. I also belong to Paperbackswap.com and really like it. Makes getting something new to read cheap. And I like cheap.

I REALLY struggled this morning about stepping on the scale. I so wanted to do that, but I thought it throug and I came to the conclusion that no good would come of it. I mean... if I lost alot, I would be very happy, and in the past I have slacked off on my commitment, and ate more that day because "I could", if I didn't I might be depressed and eat more than I wanted to,. because I was "sad". In the end, as my past history has shown, no good would come of stepping on the scale before Friday. I really didn't want to stray from my eating plan so far, and I am proud to admit that I did not step on the scale! :woohoo: a mini victory for me!

Wow :woohoo: thats great. Knowing that what you did before was not working for you, acknowledging it and making the change. WTG

My CONTINUED motivation is that I actually like the way I look and feel now, though I still have another 15-20 to loose. It is nice not always being the biggest one in the room. I LOVE that I can go into any store and buy clothes w/o having to worry about them having something big enough. That was always a problem when buy T's at Disneyland, 2XL (mens) were always a bit tight around the "girls." This last trip I was able to purchase a Medium Women's shirt.

:woohoo: What a wonderful feeling that must have been

Wednesday's QOTD: What is your motivation to lose the weight?
My motivations is health related. I want to be able to not have to use my CPAP machine. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in 2004 and my doctor has alway told me that if I lose the weight I will most likely be able to stop using my machine. I lost 50 lb and was retested and even though I still need to use my CPAP, my number if episodes had drop dramatically. My dr. said I was one of the worst cases he has ever seen. I would stop breathing over 300 time a night.:scared1:

Woo Hoo. Here's a :woohoo: and a:yay: and a :thumbsup2 for all the BLs. Way to go guys. Dawn!!! I had no idea you were here too. Good to see you. Congrats to all of you. Well done.

And an oh so special :dance3: and  for Matt!!!!! Good for you BL!:lmao: Well done sir.

Way to go guys. Thanks so much Brenda for everything that you do. And thanks to all of the BL leaders who share their valuable time.

Lisa

Lisa - I am here and doing well reading everyones stuff...now I need to start posting more...ugh...had a bad headache and drinking a coke now for the first time since the New Year's...but the caffeine works and I just bought a single pop so no more in the house once it is gone...I do not drink coffee...pop only occasionally and no alcohol at all...but I hate that guilty feeling drinking a calorie I do not need ya know? Why is it that cafeine helps with headaches? Why can't a banana?

Motivation...

That is a really hard one for me...several things actually...

1 - My kids - want to be more active...and not embarass myself or them - I tend to hide and that is my own insecurities...not theirs....plus my daughter needs to tone and loose about 25# or so...I have not been a great role model for her...
2 - just got engaged - Disney Wedding in 2010 planning...found a dress - now just want to look good in it...
3 - Prove to myself that I deserve a body that looks and feels good - nothing less

Wheewww! Finally managed to get through all of the posts I missed! You ALL are such an inspirational group!! :grouphug:

I must have missed the posting of the COW :confused3, I'll have to go back and check it out. I'm at home, and one of the things I do to account for my intake of water is that I got 8 of those glass Coke bottles. I fill them in the morning, and watch them disappear. It just seems easier to down one of those rather than a regular water bottle. Psychological, I know! :upsidedow

CarolA, being on the road as often as you are, is tough! You are doing all kinds of RIGHT things!!

Tuesday Question of the Day: What is one thing you don't think people on the DIS know about you that you would like to share?
I'm going for a 1/2 marathon in 25 states.
Wednesday's QOTD: What is your motivation to lose the weight?
My motivations are: 1) health, and 2) get just a little faster on the 1/2 marathons.

I TiVo'd BL, and still have to watch it. Already, though, it seems like this group is not as game playing catty as the last group!!

Have a WONDERFULLY SUCCESSFUL day!! :goodvibes Anne

COW Week 1

Ok I am trying a new version of the COW for BL7. I am calling it the progressive COW.

Here is a refresher of the COW rules in case you are new or forgot. I will post a new COW sometime every Thursday. Each challenge week begins 12:01 am Friday morning and runs till midnight Thursday night. I figure posting the COW on Thursday gives you a little time to “plan” out how best to complete the challenge before the clock starts. Please email or PM me your score by Monday morning of the following week. (So tomorrow’s challenge score is “due” the 19th, although I recommend you pm or email it to me on Friday when you email Brenda your weight.)

If you chose not to do the COWs at all, or only get around to doing a few items on the list that is perfectly fine. The idea is to get you thinking and doing new things on this road to a new you, not to stress you out.

So here is how this version will work. Every Thursday I will post a new task to add to the previous tasks. This should help you establish good habits during this BL. I got this idea from the 12 days of Christmas song actually. So,

Week 1 all you need is the partridge and the pear tree
Week 2 you will need the turtle doves and the partridge
Week 3 you need the French Hens, turtle doves and partridge
And it goes on

Maybe a mod will be nice enough to give me a sticky so it will be easier to keep track??

So, week 1 will be very easy. Keep track of your water intake and aim for 8 glasses a day. Before Monday the 19th, tell me how many days you succeeded. Easy enough right?

Little hint, you MAY ;) need a pedometer soon, so you might want to find yours or go out and buy one this week.

2. Women in my family live FOREVER! (One grandmother was 91, one was 87, my great grandmother shot herself at 90plus when the MD told her there was nothing that was going to kill her anytime soon)

Great job on changing your surroundings to help you become successful!

That is sad about your great grandmother. I wonder how long she would have lived? You have great genes that the women live so long!

My motivations is health related. I want to be able to not have to use my CPAP machine. My dr. said I was one of the worst cases he has ever seen. I would stop breathing over 300 time a night.:scared1:

Hmmm, I'll have to go check out those authors and the website too. Wow, over 300 times a night??? wow, just did some quick math on that... if you slept for 8 hours then you stopped breathing 37.5 times every hour!!! :scared1: Thank goodness you got the help to get a CPAP machine. Hopefully soon you won't need it.

Motivation...

2 - just got engaged - Disney Wedding in 2010 planning...found a dress - now just want to look good in it...

Congratulations!!!!:bride:

Good Wednesday afternoon.

I am just getting ready to head home but wanted to check in. I may have time later but I have a lot to do when I get home.

Wednesday's QOTD: What is your motivation to lose the weight?
Three years ago I was at my lowest weight in a long time. I had lost 30 pounds. But my bp still needed to be controlled by medication and soon after that I found out I had an irregular heartbeat that is not serious but needs medication. I gave up. Losing all that weight didn't help me and I was mad about it.

I need to have a bunion removed from my foot. It is causing a lot of pain in my ankle (tendons being stretched the wrong way). I would have had it removed but it was diagnosed too late for me to do it last summer (being a school teacher I need to do this as soon as school lets out so that it can heal all summer) So I am going to the doctor's a few weeks to talk about it. I need to lose some weight so that when I am on crutches I don't kill my arms and my shoulders. It would make life easier.

have a great day every one. Keep up the hard work.

PS I thought Jerry looked amazing. It would have served the grey team right if everyone just voted her off instead of the two below the yellow line.

That's exactly what I thought! Joelle is a real case!!!

I was so sad at the two below the yellow line. They were the two that needed to be there the most. The grey team...UGH! I was so hoping.

I'v never watched the biggest loser but last night I did-- and I would have taken the twenty five thousand no problem lol. That's just me though. I'll start watching it when I can :) My motivation to lose weight: OK I know it sounds shallow but I bought these pooh embroidered overalls I really want to fit into at salvation army. I know they didn't cost me much but I've been looking for a pair of these or something like them for forever and I really want to get into them by the time I go to disneyland. They are lg. I am an xlarge. Also my back pain is huge and looking good for the trip for pictures and not hurting while I'm there is good motivation too. Have a great day ladies :)

Ok...got my 66min of exercise in 30min wii and 36 min treadmill...my eating is still in the can't get it under control phase....I"m planning on keeping working on it...

Todays Question..motivation..

Would be for my kids and health. No health problems yet but they can be right round the corner. Ofcourse vanity also. I want to fit into smaller sizes and have more shopping options.

I am getting fustrated. The scale seems to be going to wrong way.:confused3

I am doing low carb and sticking to plan. For those that have done it before my pee sticks are dark purple. I dont know wht is going on.

QoD: What motivates me is dd - this sounds very superficial but people often say how much we look alike, which leaves me feeling horrible. I don't want her to look like an obese person.:sad1:

Congrats to everyone this past week, losers - woo hoo! maintain - next week will better; or gain - at least it was all tracked and a plan is in place!

I know just how you feel. People are always telling my dd how much she looks like her mom. My DD is 13yrs old. 5'3" and 120 lbs. I am 39yrs old 5'3" and 192lbs. I always thank them for the great compliment. The funny thing is I've over heard my DD thanking people when they say how much we look alike. I'm sure your daughter like mine thinks her mom is beautiful no matter what size.

I finally got some exercise in today!!! Took a 3 mile walk with co-workers!! :thumbsup2 Now that I have started it'll have to continue, right?? LOL!

BL - I just knew Joelle was going home last night, boy, was I ever surprised.

Wednesday's QOTD: What is your motivation to lose the weight?

ME, I know it sounds vain, but I'm my motivation. I want to be pretty in my own eyes again. My DH and kids love me and tell me how pretty I am on regular basis. But I want to think that for myself. I want to look in the mirror and think " ...I may almost be 40 yrs old but boy am I aging well."

Wednesday's QOTD: What is your motivation to lose the weight?

I have lots of reasons, but one of my main one is clothes. None of them fit! In Feb. I got a promotion at work. I have worked at a dr's office since I was 19. I have done every position in the clinic over the years. In Feb. I became the office manager. But instead of dressing up more like previous office managers, I still wear scrubs like everyone else, which is fine as far as dress code at the clinic goes, but I want to dress better. I refuse to buy any more fat clothes, though. When I make it to my goal of 145-150 lbs. I will go shopping and buy me a whole new wardrobe to look more the part of 'the boss lady'. Also my weekend clothes don't fit. I am tired of wearing the same 2 pair of jeans and sweatshirts or t-shirt over and over again. I have kept some of my smaller clothes, so hopefully soon I will be able to wear some of them again!

Eeyore's Butterfly, I would love to hear how you make the baked apple chips. They sound great!
