Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Dig in your heels and kick some poundage booty today tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!

Thanks for the pedometer recommendations. Going to check them out this weekend!

It's not that it's a chore. I actually like exercising (well not necessarily while doing it), but I love the feeling I get after I do it. I used to exercise all the time until I kept getting pains in my right knee and right shoulder. The last time I lifted weights was last spring when the shoulder pain started. Before that I truged through the knee pain. I went to the Dr. and had x'rays, blood test for inflamation to rule out arthritis and lyme disease. Everything came back negative. The pain went away (it has gone away for the knees about 4-5 times now), and the pain came back in both the right knee and shoulder again about a month or two ago. I don't remember when, but its frustrating. I tried to do push ups the other day and I could barely get out 5 because my right shoulder was so pained while doing it. Its not that it's so painful that I don't do normal stuff - its not painful unless I'm walking up or down the stairs (although it was hurting walking to work this morning - the knee), or when I lift things, or lift my arms or put my arms around the kids shoulder (almost feels like a rotator injury, but my doc said my arm strength was too strong for it to be that). I looked at some things on line like fybromyalgia and a few others and nothing fits. The only one that really looks like it could be a possibility, but I don't have the classic back symptoms (except for occasional back pain) is Ankylosan spondolitis. My dad had that and was crippled and blind from it until he died from complications of it a few years ago. It can be hereditary, and it wasn't until I read something recently that I thought there could be a link. You can get it without having the back stuff and there are a vast degree of ways I'm not 100% sure, and I pray that is not it. I think deep down I've been afraid to start exercising..........then couple that with me being such a slug lately, the cold. I just feel cold all the time, feel like I want to sleep (except after 10pm when I should want to). I think its mostly laziness. Plus after working all day, by the time we get dinner figured out, take the kids and pick them up from their activities, its so late. On the weekend. It's usually me just being lazy or saying I'm going to do it at a specific time and something else coming up.

I was having lots of shoulder issues this past year...my strength was good but after going through physical therapy it was just painful. Doc stopped PT, did the MRI and felt I had a small tear but I had a bone spur that he thought was causing the most pain. He said if I didn't go ahead and take care of it, it was going to end up tearing my rotator cuff. I had the surgery early July...only three small incisions, I ended up not having a tear at all but the bone spur was a really large one. I got a little behind in my therapy (insurance issues) but once I started I worked hard at it and was going three times a week for two hours each time. It took a while but I now have full range of motion, can sleep on it without it waking me up with sharp pain and I can do push ups again.

Just wanted to share my experience...I lived with the pain for a long time and now wish that I had gone on to the surgeon a lot sooner. I also understand how you can dread going to have tests done. I think what kept holding me back was I was nervous because it was located in my shoulder. My dad passed away from ALS and his started in his shoulder and back area.

Maybe it's worth going back to the doctor and having a few more tests run.

The best one is Omron - It's not like the others. It allows you to put it in your pocket - its way more acurate than the kinds that click. It works of a different technology.

http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HJ-112-Digital-Premium-Pedometer/dp/B0000U1OCI/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1231982952&sr=8-1

This is the one I bought during the last BL challenge...I love it, it fits in my pocket and has a clip to attach to the pants (just make sure you use it so it doesn't take the dive into the toilet like MelanieC's did:scared1: ).

I just wanted to brag about a small victory today. We have goodies brought in by drug reps pretty often. Usually I manage to eat them. Which explains my too tight jeans!:lmao: Anyway, today there were cookies brought this morning and snack size candy bars brought this afternoon. I did not eat either! The best part is that I wasn't really even tempted to. I have been eating so much better that I didn't want to eat them. They just weren't worth it. You know?
:woohoo:

WTG on resisting those urges that were brought in and not to even feel tempted. Doesn't it feel great to be in control??:cool1:

Good evening everyone!

My motivation is that Dh and I are trying to start a family and I want to be a healthy, skinnier host for my baby and a more energetic mommy! :goodvibes

I have to brag a little too. I have a challenge for myself that includes not eating out for lunch. If I don't do it all week I get money toward my Wii Fit, but if I eat out once I don't get any money. I also set a barrier that if I eat out more than once I have to deduct money from my Wii Fit fund. Well, I went out w/ my coworkers monday, meaning no money this week. But today they wanted to go out again. They were being pretty high pressure too! :sad2: I told them that I was Not eating out and that they could go without me. They did go and I stayed at work and ate my lunch from home. :cool1: :cool1: I had a brief moment when I wanted to give in, but I didn't! Baby steps, but important baby steps!

Have a great losing day tomorrow everyone and get those Last Chance Workouts in!!

You have a great challenge going for yourself. WTG on not giving in and going out again with your coworkers...maybe you need to explain to them why you are not wanting to go out so they won't try to use the pressure tactic again.

Yesterday went well, we went out for dinner last night (our one meal out a week). We went to our favorite local Mexican place...I had conserved at lunch to be able to go and not feel guilty. I did add a large plate of lettuce to my order too.

Got to go get the day started...have a great one everyone, let's make it count!!!:thumbsup2

Wow - you guys are doing great with victories every day!

We have a 2-hour delay today, b/c of the cold. Not in the minus 30s though - that's just unbelievable. I was going to work out and take advantage of it but I'm still not feeling well. :( I must be getting better though b/c my mood has changed from "Eeyore" to "Pooh." :goodvibes

I love my Omron pedometer too. Mine's a little different from Melanie's, here's the model...Omron HJ-720ITC. I got it from Amazon.

Today is my birthday and DH got me the YourselfFitness for PS2 (I asked for it). It looks great - has anyone else used it? I'm hoping to feel good enough to start it tomorrow.

Last night was bad...well not bad but just not a healthy choice. Ordered pizza for dinner (over dd's objections, can you believe her?!). I wasn't up for anything else and didn't want to cook so I had some breadsticks and a small piece of pizza.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :bday: party:

Wednesdays question: What is your motivation to lose the weight?
I want to feel healthy and be more active with my family without feeling like they have to slow down because of me.

This week has not been a good one for me. I ate chocolate and I really pigged out at my bible study breakfast yesterday. I weighed myself this morning and I have not lost a single pound since last Friday.:sad2: I'm so mad at myself!

/
Ok...still sucking at that eating thing but I'm getting exercising and water down pretty good this week. I've exercised mon, tues, wed, thurs....My weight tomorrow will probably go up but I'm OK with that because my commitment to exercise seems to be doing well and I guess I'll have to add eating in a little later this month.

Ok...got my 66min of exercise in 30min wii and 36 min treadmill...my eating is still in the can't get it under control phase....I"m planning on keeping working on it...

I am in the same position as you with the eating! I am really nervous about my weigh in tomrorrow because I know I will have actually gained weight. But, the way I look at it, Friday (really today), is my chance to adjust.

First the good news: I weighed in yesterday at WW and am down 1 lb! I wasn't sure because I went over my points (pretty significantly) so I'm super excited! :cool1:

Contrats on the weight loss! You show that being perfect is not necessary; just be in control most of the time.

I've had a rather "productive" day: I made two kids cry, jammed a printer and a copier multiple times, got told that nobody in town is hiring, missed my walk, went to take a bath and had the hot water get stuck in the on position, and was subsequently without water for over an hour and did not get to cook!

The great thing about bad days is that the next day is almost always a good day!:wizard:

I just wanted to brag about a small victory today. We have goodies brought in by drug reps pretty often. Usually I manage to eat them. Which explains my too tight jeans!:lmao: Anyway, today there were cookies brought this morning and snack size candy bars brought this afternoon. I did not eat either! :woohoo:

Isn't it amazing how many times we eat things that really are not all that "delicious"? From time to time I think the only treats I should eat should be "homemade"; I would eat less and they are always worth more in terms of calories then the "storebought stuff" (Of course I'm assuming that your drug reps were not in the kitchen making cookies;) ). I have not been consistent in following this idea because of time constraints, but I'm trying.

Congratulations on sticking to your guns! Sometimes the office crowd is the worst in terms of providing support. 18+years of your gorgeous future baby is definitely more satisfying then a 1 hour lunch with work collegues.

Today is my birthday

I hope you have a great birthday!:flower3:

I'm so glad you chose the BodyBug over surgery - you can do this. We are here for you. We can be there to give you the pep talks you need and get you up that hill!!

Thanks for the support- I REALLY need it right now. Staying active and eating right are two of the hardest things in the world for me! UGH!!

How does the body bug know how much food you are taking in? I think in the future I may have to invest in it. sounds like it is a wonderful tool. So glad you found something that works for you!!!!

Karen, hang in there. I know it is a slow process but you are going to win this battle and the war! Keep going with the positive changes you have made, the body bug sure sounds like it is going to help you. I give you so much credit for working so hard. I had a Dr. Mention weight loss surgery as well, and I did some research on it, and it scared me! There is so much to that, and so many possible complications that I knew it wasn't for me. We can do this, we HAVE to do this, and we WILL do this!

Vija- you have to record what you eat on the bodybugg website, then you download the info from the armband and it calculates how many calories you've burned. For instance- my calorie intake goal is about 1650 calories a day. I need to burn off 2650 calories a day to lose 2 lbs. a week. I put in what kind of foods I eat, and how much, then download my activity from the body bugg- it then calculates and tells me how many calories are eaten and burned- what time of the day they were burned and how many more I need to burn to get to my goal of burning 2650 calories a day. I just had my training session for this BB and there is SO much on the website that is valuable! I love that I can set my BB to remind me (it will buzz will on my arm) that it's time to eat a meal or have a snack or exercise. It calculates how many steps I've taken for the day and will give me a little victory song when I reach that goal. As I get healthier, I can adjust the times and make my goals bigger and better. THIS THING IS REALLY AWESOME!!

Weight loss surgery really scares me to death as well. BEFORE YOU GO TO THAT EXTREME_ spend the money and get this BB- I know I'm just new to using it, but it has honestly become a valuable resource for me. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next month.

I have so many motivations, in no particular oder...
1. Tired of being the "big girl" in the room
2. Tired of being sick and tired and in pain all the time
3. TaeKwonDo ~ I LOVE taeKwonDo, but I realize that I have almost hit a wall, I really can't progress further in the art until I loose more weight, the kicks that we are working on require jumping, spinning and flexibilty, and I find myself struggling to keep up with my group, I want to really be able to move and do all of the new things, and do them well.
4. Tired of not having clothes that fit right, or having to STRETCH my shirts before I wear them
5. I want my children to have healthy habits in their life so they don't have this struggle
6. I want that sense of pride and accomplishment
7. tired of always being so self conscious
8. Disneyland trip this year!
9. I want to improve my health so I can see my children grow up
10. I would LOVE to be featured in a magazine and hopefully inspire other people to change their lives for the better.

I'll stop there, LOTS of motivation!!!!

I REALLY struggled this morning about stepping on the scale. I so wanted to do that, but I thought it throug and I came to the conclusion that no good would come of it. I mean... if I lost alot, I would be very happy, and in the past I have slacked off on my commitment, and ate more that day because "I could", if I didn't I might be depressed and eat more than I wanted to,. because I was "sad". In the end, as my past history has shown, no good would come of stepping on the scale before Friday. I really didn't want to stray from my eating plan so far, and I am proud to admit that I did not step on the scale! :woohoo: a mini victory for me!

TaeKwonDo??? That is sooo cool Vija!! I've always wanted to do martial arts of some kind! What got you started on it?

I got my Omron Ped in the parmacy section at Walmart. It was about $20 or so and i really like it. I don't use it that much these days as my outdoor walking is limited due to a hip injury (the hard ground makes it flare up). But I did wear it at Disneyland and one day we walked 16 miles.

Good morning everyone! It is -13 degrees here today and my DD's school was canceled. It might be canceled tomorrow too.

I made a big pot of lentil soup yesterday. It looks like that's what I'm having for lunch the next two days, LOL! I still have not gotten off my butt to exercise and I think it will show tomorrow.

We have another swim meet for my DD this weekend (all weekend), but at least this one is at home and her events are in the afternoon. I'll make sure to eat before I go to work the meet.

I have a question for all of you who are on Weight Watchers. My DH contributes pre-tax dollars to a Health Care Spending Account. I have heard that you can use that money to pay for WW but not for a gym membership or equipment. Has anyone used their HCSA to pay for weight watchers? Did you need a doctor's note?

I went to our favorite mexican place for take out a few nights ago- I was so hungry I didn't care, I did order 2 tacos instead of 4 which is what I usually get. I always order just meat and cheese, this time when I got home there was lettuce and tomato--lol the world is trying to keep me on, my diet...it was good anyway and I think the lettuce filled me up.

I feel like the world is out to get me today! First = Krispy Kreme donuts were brought in and they were still warm; Second = invitation to go to a new Mexican restaurant

I'm doing fine, but sometimes :scared: !! I walked 2 1/2 miles yesterday, so I'm back on the exercise train.

My DD11 and DS9 had their school cancelled today and tomorrow (wind chills about -30 degrees:scared1: plus about 20 kids sent home with the stomach flu yesterday-no, it was not the cafeteria food-most before lunch, yuck!)

How do you make your lentil soup? I am a big fan of bean soups, but have yet to try making it myself

I tried getting some health club related expenses run through my DH flexible spending account (we had extra $$ to use up), and the process was so cumbersome that I gave up. First, we were told to get a letter from the doctor saying that the activity was "medically necessary" and that the activity was medically ordered. We submitted a letter/perscription form two or three times, and each time the claims processors would deny, looking for an additional detail in the letter. Finally DH called the benefits administrator and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor faxed him a detailed form that the doctor had to complete. Having asked the doctor several times already for assistance, I figured this would be the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak so gave up and bought extra contact lenses (I'm now very well stocked:3dglasses)

So, you may want to contact your administrator, and immediately ask for a second or third level supervisor/manager before spending a lot of time submitting the claim first

I love to have lots of lettuce with my Mexican because it does fill me up and helps me not eat as many chips. I also break up the chips and have small piece of chip with lots of salsa;) .

Stargazer-Keep up the strong will that you have and you will make it through those temptations!!

robinb - Lentil soup sounds good, care to share the recipe??

my motivation - ugh recent pics of myself! I look horrible and weigh what I weighed when had my three year old! Yikes!

This weekend we are headed to disney so I hope to get a lot of walking in!

Hi neighbor:) I am FREEZING right next to you in Sun Prairie. Wish I was home with the kids taking a snow day. I am determined to make it to the gym tonight though. Tomorrow is weigh in (Last chance workout :rotfl: ) Plus, I keep saying that if I get used to the cold now, on Saturday when it is 15, it will feel like a heat wave :woohoo:

Have fun at WDW! I weight the same now as I did at 9months pregnant with DD3, too! I'd drop down a bit after each pregnancy and then slowly creep up. Time to work my way back down to where I was before having kids, and then try to get back to where I was in college.
