I'm starting to get worried about you, it seems you are getting sick alot. Hang in there my friend, and try to take care of your health. I think you need another vacation!::yes::

I know that it seems that way, but it has been a bad winter around here for illness.

At least two other lawyers who work with me at the Family Division have the same thing - including one of the lawyers that did the trial with me.

My assistant had it and then it just went straight to my lungs with no warning. Now my husband has it.

The predinsone is just for another four days - to settle my asthma, which is well controlled with just Singulair usually. I rarely need a rescue inhaler unless I have a cold or am around smoke.

I also know one other lawyer who, like me, has had stomach flu several times.

The hospital in the South Shore is closed to visitors, again, due to an outbreak of stomach flu around patients and staff - second time this winter.

Every time I get the stomach flu, it seems less severe, which is good.

I will be glad when I can train again though - will try tomorrow night.

Tuesday's weigh in will likely be a gain because I just weighed in on Thursday (missed Tuesday due to the trial) and because of the drugs.

Oh well, 2.8 this week was good.

Have a magical losing week folks

Time to catch up...

What are your vacation plans for this year?
We are celebrating our 10-year anniversary this May. We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas for five days followed by an Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Magic. After that, we go back to Animal Kingdom Villas for four more days. We can't wait!

In January we are going back with some good friends. It will be their first time at WDW and we are all running the 2010 Marathon together.

I can't accurately answer this question because I'm a dude. I have always had a huge crush on Cinderella though. As for character I most act like, in the Beast's Library at DCA, the books tell me I'm either most like Buzz Lightyear or Jiminy Cricket.

I only lost .2 this week. I'm actually really happy I didn't gain as I had a rough week. I had to travel on business and had to eat out three meals a day for four days. This has always been my weakness. I actually did pretty well eating light but portion control was difficult.

The fitness center in my hotel was closed for refurbishment. I ran 4.5 miles outside one night but it rained the rest of my trip so I didn't do much else. I did yoga one other night. I spent the better part of my evenings catching up on work since I couldn't do any of it in my meetings so I barely left my desk.

I did run a fantastic local race yesterday though. It was an 8.75 mile race through the beautiful coastal roads finishing crossing a 2' deep river (brrrrrrr!) and then two more miles on the beach. I'm pretty sore today but it was a lot of fun. I've been training for a while but I'm really not used to running down hills and I've never run on sand. Even though it was on the harder sand near the water, it was still brutal.

Now I'm back at home and will make sure I have a good week of exercising and staying OP!

-steve

Not being on a diet but making lifestyle chages seems to be what is working. I have taken control of my eating...cutting way back on portions and making healthier choices. I want this to be something that I can maintain from now on and being on a diet just doesn't work for me. Drinking lots of water, taking my vitamins, eating breakfast and moving more is also a big part of the plan. Everything that I should have been doing but wasn't. Nothing that I really need to "tweak" but just need to continue on. Taking baby steps and not trying to do it all at once helped me get started.

It seems like you really have this figured out! Reading your post reminds me that I need to take my vitamins.

OT, but were you the one who knows Heba? I remember someone here on the DIS knows Heba and they are from NC. If so, did you ever ask her about her dress and "the girls"?

DCL is definitely for the fun of it!

Favorite activity on the ship (keep it clean!:rotfl: ) the mud room, (that's as clean as I can make it ;) )
That is funny!:lmao: I wanted to try the mud room, maybe next time.

I have learned that I need to exercise regularly to maintain what I have lost so far, and lose more. I also do best if I journal and ww works well for me, if I only follow it consistently. I've learned it was wise to throw away my large scrub pants when I bought mediums, because they are a bit tight in the gut now, and I won't go back and buy larges again, but if the larges were still in my house, it would be too easy to put them back on, and gain more weight back.

I need to tweak when I fall off the wagon for a day, not letting it become 2-3 days or a week.

What a great question Vija!! Makes me want to get planning another trip.

I haven't done a cruise yet, but loved hearing about your favorite things. I'm planning to go on a disney cruise for my 50th bday in 5 years, unless I come into some money before then. They look like so much fun.
Great job on getting rid of the bigger clothes, it is hard to part from them sometimes and you are taking the courage to do so. I admire that.

I know what you mean about reading everyone's Disney responses, I am getting that feeling of wanting to go back to WDW!

The cruise is so much fun, I sure hope you can do it for your Bday. It is absolutely amazing.

Princessvija,

Earl of Sandwich is at DTD and their sandwiches are great. We have only eaten there once, but the whole family loved it. Their prices are really reasonable compared to a lot of disney restaurants. We were at DTD on a night that wasn't terribly crowded, but there was a line to order at Earl. Even with the line, it moved really fast and we didn't have to wait long and found one empty table outside.
Hmmm, that sounds yummy! I'll have to give it a try.

Oh my, sure sounds like that stomach flu is nasty. hopefully it will clear up soon. Great job on the weight loss.

The itsakadoozie is basicly a popsicle. I haven't seen them anywhere else, but in the hot florida sun, I love the refreshing taste of it!

the watches are awesome aren't they? Wearing them brings a smile to my face.

AND I really wanted to add.... I AM PROUD OF YOU! No matter what is going on in your life, you are staying strong to your commitment and posting on this thread!!!! SO VERY PROUD OF YOU!:cheer2:

wow, I can see how travel can really goof you up. I think that is great that you got out to do some running while on vacation. And that local race sounds kind of fun. Did you have to run through the river? What about your shoes? Yikes, I can't imagine running in wet feet/shoes.

Hello everyone!

Hope you had a good weekend. I was pretty good. Used A LOT of my WW "weekly points" (not sure what they call them and I have the thing shut down) at Hooters last night, but we had a good time.

Did have a run in today with some Peanut Brittle... Just hope it's not from the tainted Peanut plant since I never even thought of that LOL!

Headed out to Texas tomorrow. I think it's going to warm enough to run outside a few days. We will see if I am in a location where it's safe enough!

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone had a great weekend! And hopefully everyone is going to have a losing week this week!

I work early tomorrow, so if you don't mind I will post Mondays QOTD now.

Monday QOTD: What do you do for a job, and does it help or hurt your weight loss efforts?

Monday QOTD: What do you do for a job, and does it help or hurt your weight loss efforts?

I am a nurse and work in surgery. My job actually does both, helps and hurts depending on the day. I definitely keep busy there, and staying on my feet gets in lots of exercise. However I can never know when or if I will get lunch. completely depends on the surgery schedule, or if there is anyone extra that could get me out for a lunch break. I also vary my hours from early to starting at 10:30 am. It depends on the schedule and never know till the day before. hard to plan around that. On the upside, there isn't time for snacking. that is a problem I run into when I am home.

.

Monday QOTD: What do you do for a job, and does it help or hurt your weight loss efforts?

I am an Internal Auditor for a healthcare provider. And it hurts my weight loss efforts.

I travel A LOT and that just makes it harder. This month for example I am out of town 3 of 4 weeks!

I'm an administrative assistant at a Pharmaceutical company in the Vaccines area - mostly working with getting vaccines to underdeveloped countries, but also policy and public affairs.

I'm mostly at my desk all day long, so it's actually pretty easy until I'm super busy like I was this past Wednesday-Friday. Day's like these, I'm moving so fast I barely have time to take lunch - but I try to make sure I eat properly. I do not really get tempted that often (not saying never) with junk at work. The hardest thing is resisting going out to eat so often. I've got friends in my old building/division and several sets that I go out with. It makes it hard because each group want's to go out, yet I might have just gone out with another group.

Wow am I super tired tonight - I worked my butt off today. I got to our High School at 9:30am this morning and didn't leave till about 5pm. Mostly I sold 50/50 tickets, I was supposed to originally work the snack stand, but they needed someone to sell tickets. I sold over $500 worth, so we made $250!! Our gym is two tiered, so I was up and down the stairs, up and down the bleacher's and squating down and getting back up all day. I'm sore tonight and I know my muscles are going to ACHE tomorrow - but I know I burned tons of calories today.

Food wasn't good today because I had to eat in between dropping the money and tickets off - then we went to taco bell when DH got home from his weekend duty at Air National Guards. I didn't get to grocery shop, and was busy all weekend long so no time to cook, even if there was food. I will do better and I hope this weekend didn't ruin the fact that I had caught up. I will work hard to make the next 5 days be SPOT ON! I can do it! I'll be happy to lose anything this week.

I have another competition next week on Saturday. My husband is leaving for a two week military event in Tampa next Friday. So I will have my son, we will be traveling to another school - about 45 to an hour away. I really need some ideas of food that doesn't need to be cooked. Maybe some healthy salad type thing with whole grain, veggies etc. I'd like no meat too. Mabye something with rice or quinoa - but that is tasty too - that can be eaten cold. Maybe I can find something with sweet potatoes and rice? Hmm - maybe I can just add some olive oil too it and eat it cold. I wonder what that would taste like.

I'm cutting out cold cuts and stuff like that so I'd rather just have something with a whole grain, veggies etc. Maybe I can also bring some frozen fruit that I can eat as a snack after it thaws. It can help keep my food cool in the bag

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

I haven't been on for a couple days, so I hope everyone is doing ok! My DH is doing very well after his surgery on Wednesday - I wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes! :grouphug:

I was down 1.6 pounds for Friday's WI. I'm very happy with that! I didn't get my exercise in this week at all, so I'm glad to see any loss!

Here are a few recent QOTD's that I missed:

What are your vacation plans for this year?
Are you planning any big trips?
My DS and I go to WDW every August. This year we're planning a 15 day road trip - 4 nights at Pop, 3 night Bahama cruise, and then 6 more nights at Pop (the rest is driving time). We usually do 10 nights, but I had to cancel a trip to see him in December (he was working at AK on the Disney College Program) - I had to cancel because of work. So, this extended trip is to partially make up for not being able to see him for Xmas.

Villian or Princess which are you? Depends on who you ask! :rotfl2:
What is the character you most relate to? Hmmmm....this is a hard one - the first thing that comes to mind is Pocohontas for being a nature lover and outdoors person. And then Tink for her Fiesty-ness.

Favorite country at EPCOT: hmmm....don't really have a favorite.

What do you do for a job, and does it help or hurt your weight loss efforts? I'm a Certified Professional Coder and work for a health insurance company. I have a desk job most of the time, so I get bored easily, and therefore, I tend to snack. I've learned to be prepared for those snacks and bring several with me every day.

Monday QOTD: What do you do for a job, and does it help or hurt your weight loss efforts?
Elementary teacher, here. I'm on my feet most of the day with the grade 1's and 2's, and I always have hot tea/water and cold water on hand because schools are always dry (that's helpful). Also. I snack at recess (banana) and save something for last recess, too. So, foodwise, the job helps. Unfortunately, by the time the day is over, I am emotionally exhausted. I know that walking would help the exhaustion, but . . . Also, we have Wake Up Wednesday. I've been really good throughout January, not choosing much, and what I do choose is usually fruit, veggies, maybe a couple of crackers and some (less than an ounce) of cheese. Because of the daily routine, though, I find the weekend hard!

Forgot to tell you that my b-day is Wednesday, and my DH bought me a Wii Fit and my DS gave me the Outdoor Adventure game for the Wii (got them both this morning since I had to shop for DH since he still can't drive). DS and I played for a long time this morning - boy, am I aching all over! But it's been a long time since we laughed that hard and made fools of ourselves like that! This will definitely be part of my every day workout!!
