Welcome Homecoming Call?

Just took DVC survey, Welcome Homecoming Call was mentioned in survey. Is this a new perk or an old one with a new name? :confused3
 
I just took the survey as well and was confused about the Welcome Homecoming Call. I searched the Internet, but only found questions about it (including your's) but no information. I searched dvcmember.com and nothing came up. I chose "not interested" in the survey and I was able to make a comment about being surveyed on something that doesn't exist nor has been announced. I am hoping they will contact me for "more information" about my survey.
 
We just bought in last week...
We received a free character call, good upto a year...
Is this what you guys mean
 
Once, our guide called us to say "Welcome Home" - I'd rather NOT get the call, it isn't exactly a perk to have to jump out of the shower or check the hotel voice mail to get a call from a salesperson to say "Welcome home, I hope you have a nice vacation and if there is anything I can do for you, call me." But I think they are supposed to do it.
 

Decided to chat with a rep on dvcmember.com...this is what the rep said:

"Brad: I just took a DVC survey and it was asking about "Welcome Homecoming Call". What is that?
Brad: I searched Internet and dvcmember.com but found nothing.
Timothy: That is a call that you get when you have a reservation that is close to arrival.
Brad: That's it?
Timothy: It is.
Brad: Ok. Thanks!"


I wouldn't really say that is a perk...I think if I have a vacation to anything Disney, I am going to remember it...LOL

Thanks all! I do recall receiving a call from my guide the first 2 vacations back in 2007/2008. I don't consider that a perk. I wonder if they will have a character call you just like you can set up with Disney Cruise Line.
 
Some guides call when you are at WDW on vacation just to say hi hoping that you might want to buy.

DVC has also started a new group tied to the member experience designed to make you feel good about your ownership, they have been making calls to tell soon to be vacationers about the "for a fee" member offerings that are now available.

I got a a welcoming home call the other day for our upcoming trip in April. It was kinda strange. She was not a guide and not sure if member services. She just said she was calling to see if we needed anything for our trip such as tickets, dining plan etc.. She knew we had alread booked Magical express. I guess it would be nice for new members, but we have been members for 18 years.

We got this call the other day as well. First time we have received this. She left a message and was hard to hear/understand most likely due to our machine. It took me a moment to figure out what the call was for. I agree with the previous poster, while maybe useful for a new member, all i could think was that it was a bit useless for seasoned members.

We used to get calls from our guide when we stayed on property. But that stopped a few vacations ago.

I got one as well... It's nice for newbies but like you all, after 14 years, I don't need this as a perk...

I also can't stand getting the constant 'Incredibles' booklet about the upcoming Disney World vacations when I make a ton of reservation bookings via DVC all the time and later end up canceling them... LOL The USPS must think I visit WDW monthly.
 
Our guide used to call us during every trip. He hasn't done that for several years, though. At many of the resorts, there will be a recorded welcome message on the phone from a cast member when we get back from the parks that night. That's really hit-or-miss, though.

Speaking of guides, haven't heard from my guide Don Deal. I wonder if still is there?
