We have been members for a few years now - and we have never attended one! We will be staying at the BWV on our upcoming trip - so tell me more! Should we go????
Guests accompanied by a DVC member can attend WHW.
On a hot day, it's a nice way to get out of the heat of the sun and into the air conditioned building. Cold drinks and popcorn are offered. Cute game show premise with audience participation. Nice prizes. Everyone leaves with a new DVC ball cap. I now have 2 white and a blue and would love to get a red one.
I don't know that I would schedule my day around it. If I were nearby, I would definitely make the effort to attend. It takes about an hour.
Yes, it is 4:00 PM at the Boardwalk. My dds (8,6) love it, and I do to. My wife won a $25 gift certificate to a shop at DTD last year. And, I have a small collection of hats.
DH and I attended one in June. For us, it was one of those things that you try once and never go to again. As my DH said as we left "that was an hour of my life I can never get back!" We thought it was very silly, but some of the folks around us really got into it. We did end up with nice, new DVC hats.

DiznyDi & I first thought it was a waste and something to only experience once, until we tried it again and were treated to an "all you can eat" appetizer treat made by a number of Disney signature restaurants. Great . . . and what a surprise!
And there is always the cool DVC hat exit gift . . .we want RED, but always get blue. The red ones are out there.
We got them on our 3 night cruise last year. They were giving them out on the castaway cay day if you came to the noon(ish) gathering - we also got laminated lanyard art - that was pretty cool as well - but it's not laminated enough to keep water from seeping in the edges!
We were actually surprised at how nice the hats are! But then again - look at the amount of dues we pay!
LOL
But anyway - what we really wanted on the cruise was the beach towel backpack! I answered a question right for another family and they got the gift - and then I answered a question and I got a 'travel blanket' - DEFINITELY something I would not suggest that DVC buy to give away again. Literally it's about as thick as a paper towel! It would be just enough to keep air from hitting you - but I definitely don't think it would retain any heat on a cold trip!
Enough complaining!
We are cruising again this December - so I'm holding out hopes for a beach towel backpack!
We went to our first one last October. I made the family go with the promise of a nice new DVC cap
I was over the moon when they held the draw at the end of the hour, and my DH had his name picked out! He even managed to pick the bag that had all the DVC swag in I was sooo happy.
It is a red hat with a white bill? We have 4 red with white bill hats at our house, 4 black DVC hats from the VGC points, the all white hats and the blue and white hats, but no all blue hat.

The hats we got on our Dec 2009 cruise were solid red.
VERY BRIGHT RED!
I think I would have preferred blue - but - alas - we will have to wait until this December to see what color we will get. If we get more red hats on our cruise, we will be glad to sell them to you in exchange for DVC points!
