if I may ask, Iām curious does the welcome Email include the standard ā this is to solicit timeshare sharesā languag?
Am I the only one ecstatic they included AP in the membership extra list?I really hope itās here to stay as a perk.
Itās easy automation, but who knows.I think that this new message was partially initiated by the call center. They want to avoid all the calls saying they did not get their membership card. They may also avoid some calls asking for perks that the person is not entitled to.
I wonder if they are diligent enough to avoid this message if the purchase already has a blue card?
Membership Extrasā (including, but not limited to, select merchandise, Annual Pass
That shows how stupid Disney has become. Why would they send an auto email to someone when the content doesnāt fully apply. They are becoming garbage. That email should have remained vague and pleasant or should be much more individualized, listing all of your contracts and what you can and canāt access with them.Bear in mind that I do have around 155 direct points already. Im also to add on another 200 RIV points direct.
We obviously read that completely differently. "Membership Magic" is "at your fingertips," and that applies to everyone. "Membership Extras" is only available to direct purchasers. I don't see a call-to-action or a sales pitch in there at all.Wow, leaves a bad taste in your mouth doesnāt it? Itās āat your fingertipsā to be a real member. Just call! Oh, and spend five figures. Itās easy!

We just renewed and upgraded our AP (yay), but I do believe DVC has an obligation to discontinue the promotion of discounted APs as a perk until they are available again to all blue card members.

There are like five tiers of DVC now, so thereās a version of that email that explains what you do and donāt get. Heck, thereās a version that explains some complicated concepts like banking and borrowing. Thereās a version that links to some FAQs or helpful videos or just has happy pictures and jokes.
Im not sure what this email is trying to accomplish. Itās a pretty gross way to greet someone who just bought.
The only point I disagree with and will bring up in any discussion on this topic is the contract for a new purchase today still lists annual passes as perk and even details how to buy new ones. This language has persisted for over a year without new passes being offered and through several rounds of updates without change. I understand the āsubject to change languageā means weāre not guaranteed perks but the current offers need to be accurately reflected in timely matter when perk is suspended. At this point them continuing to list the perk and promote knowing itās not available is fraud in my opinion. Why does everybody seem to forget that Membership Extras or Perks are clearly defined as that in the contract and never guaranteed? We all hope the Discounted AP's come back but if the Ticket Division says No then DVD has no say in the matter. It's a negotiated perk. The Sales Reps use the perks to entice one to purchase but I've always been clearly told by mine that they are always subject to change per the contract. Our contract is simply a purchase of a percentage of a building unit and nothing more. They don't really owe anything more to any of us. Unfortunately they can take away any perk they choose or replace it with something better or worse. Given how DVC has grown over the years and the resale market they are within their rights to put limitations on any of us whether Direct Purchase or Resale. They are currently choosing to only limit resale members from certain perks. Considering there used to be a lottery restricting certain days of the year to only be available to those who owned at that specific property some things have changed for the better.
