Welcome, Foolish Mortals...to an October 2011 PTR! *Trip Report link is up, pg 71!!*

Departure Day :(

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a good weekend! I'm just waiting for Hurricane Irene to make an appearance! :rotfl: Not looking forward to it...Brandon and I have to go out today and get some last minute things, we have batteries, but we don't have much non-perishable food, and I'd like to get a few candles, just in case. People around here are going crazy, the stores are packed!! Also I have no idea where our cooler is, and it would be nice to have that around too! Ugh, I'm seriously dreading this...if we don't have power for a day, I can deal with that, but if it's a week or something, I don't know what I'm going to do! Just gotta see what happens and hope for the best, I guess! :upsidedow

Well, this is my last daily plan update, we're finally at departure day! :sad1: I can't even think about this day, I know it's going to get here faster than I want it too, which is why I'm going to keep this really short! I want the next few weeks to hurry up and go by, but when it's time to go to Disney, I want time to go SO slowly! It always goes so fast when you're there! :confused3

Departure Day

I'm sure I will be waking up pretty early to finsh packing and getting everything in the room together. Then I'll wake Brandon up and have him get ready, and we'll have to say goodbye to our Wilderness Lodge.

Once we check out and pack up the car, we're going over to Epcot for a while! We have a very early lunch ADR at Le Cellier

(That's Brandon's favorite dessert there :))

Once we eat, we will probably wander around Epcot for a little while, I'm sure I will try to go on Soarin one last time!

If Epcot is too crazy because of the Food and Wine festival, we might go over to Hollywood Studios for a little while. I'd love to try to go on the Tower of Terror before going home!

Pretty soon, it will be time to go to the airport and say goodbye to Disney World. Hopefully I'll know by then when the next time we will be going back will be, so I won't be too depressed coming home! :rotfl:

Our flight is at 6 something (I don't even remember, because stupid Jet Blue changed it and moved it up an hour and half, which I'm STILL mad about!) so I'd like to be at the airport between 3 and 4. We have to return our rental car, stand in the obnoxious security lines, check our luggage and make it over to the Jet Blue area in time. I've only flown on Jet Blue once

but from what I remember, you board the plane very early, which is kind of annoying. No matter what time we get to MCO, I feel like we're always in a rush! Hopefully everything will go smoothly and we'll have a quick, uneventful flight home!

I'm glad that's the end of the daily plan updates! Now, with only 5 weeks left til my trip, I can just do random, fun updates! :dance3:  I'm so happy August is almost over and September is almost here! 33 more days!!! :cheer2:

Have a great weekend, and to anyone in the hurricane's path, be safe! :goodvibes

So sad about leaving but at least you will get to have some fun before you leave for MCO! I feel like that airport is always nuts but now that I'm living here, I try to be there an hour and 1/2 before my flight unless it's a holiday or summer!!!

I hate departure days - do not even want to think about them! :sad2: I haven't bought myself to write mine yet. May do a quick recap before we leave. I'm all for time standing still once we are at Disney World!

Your plans sound good though and I'm glad Le Cellier lunch is in for the final day as well :thumbsup2

Hope you stay safe and manage to get everything you need from the shops :goodvibes

I hate departure days too. :sad2: Like you said, hopefully you'll know when you'll be going back by that time!

Hope the hurricane doesn't do too much damage!

Jen, be safe with the hurricane. When power is out for a week, it really does stink. My mother has been without power for a week twice this year due to storms and downed lines.

I hate last days, but your last one sounds great.

What is that dessert? it looks really cool :goodvibes

I hate departure day :sad2: I wish life was a constant disney trip, funded by someone else :rotfl:

We have some strong winds and rain from the hurricane, but are not getting the worst of it

I hate departure days, you just always want to hang on to Disney, but then it's just snatched from your clutches that fast and the day usually goes by too quickly :sad2: No fun.

I hope you stay safe when Irene comes by. I'm in the Northeast so it's supposed to be pretty bad, but I'm not in the bad spots so that's a relief and nobody is really nervous around here, which is good, no frantic people flipping out LOL I'm most worried about the power going out, no DIS then :sad2: Haha

Stay safe!!! We're right in the storm's path too, it's starting to get gray and windy here...

Your last day, as much as last days stink, sounds like a good day!

This will be the first time going to a park before on the same day we have to leave. I always read about people doing that in TR's, so I thought I'd give it a try! :rotfl:

I don't know if I could only give myself an hour and a half before our flight, I'd be in panic mode the whole time!

LOL, you don't have to write about your departure day if you don't want to, it is a little depressing thinking about it before the trip is even here!

I'm happy we will be going to Le Cellier on our last day, it's a perfect way to end the trip! :thumbsup2

Thanks! We did get everything we think we need, all we can do now is sit back and wait for the storm to get here! :confused3 I'm really hoping it's not as bad as it's supposed to be! I really freak out with no power! :scared1:

I hate departure days too. :sad2: Like you said, hopefully you'll know when you'll be going back by that time!

Hope the hurricane doesn't do too much damage!

LOL, I have a few trips planned in my head already! :rolleyes1 Whether or not they will actually happen remains to be seen...I DO know that we're doing something for our anniversary in May...I was thinking a Disney cruise, but now I'm not sure...I might want to just do Disney again! We'll see! :rotfl:

Thanks, I wish the hurricane would just get here and get over with already! I hate not knowing what's going to happen! :sad2:

I hate last days, but your last one sounds great.

Thanks! I hope it's not out for a week! I don't know if I'd survive...I'd have to go live at the mall, or somewhere that does have power! And who knows what's going to happen with work on Monday...ugh, this is so annoying!

I hate last days too, but I'm glad we will be in the parks before we leave instead of getting up at the crack of dawn to go home! This might make it a little easier to leave, getting one little last dose of Disney!

That dessert is Le Cellier's take on s'mores...I'm not sure if they have it for dinner anymore, since the menu changed, but Brandon always gets it, and I always get the chocolate moose!

LOL, I wish that too, that would be amazing! I would seriously move to FL if I didn't hate the heat and humidity so much, so I could go there all the time...or even work there! :cool1:

Did you lose power from the hurricane? I'm hoping it weakens a little by the time it gets up here! Brandon thinks it's going to be nothing when it gets here, just a big rain storm, and that everyone went into a panic for nothing! He's actually usually right about these things, he refuses to freak out over this kind of stuff! :rotfl:

LOL, I think that's why my trips get longer and longer each time, I get used to being there, then we have to go home! It's so depressing! :sad1:

Thanks, I hope you stay safe too! I hope it's not too horrible when it gets here! I'm mostly worried about the power too! I can get on the DIS from my phone, but if the power is out, I'll need to keep it charged so I won't be able to use it much! Hoping for the best! :thumbsup2

Stay safe!!! We're right in the storm's path too, it's starting to get gray and windy here...

Your last day, as much as last days stink, sounds like a good day!

You too! :goodvibes It's not windy here yet, but it's raining, I don't think it's supposed to get really windy until overnight tonight...I'm dreading waking up with no power! I REALLY hope that doesn't happen!

I think our last day, with the exception of going home, will be a good one! :thumbsup2 Especially if I can do my 2 favorite rides one last time! :woohoo:

Lunch at Le Cellier sounds like a great way to end your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks, I think so too! :thumbsup2

I've never gone into the parks on our departure day either but we are planning on trying it for our Jan trip! I know I will be checking my watch every 10 mins or so :scared1: But I agree, it's always sad to say good-bye to Disney :(

Hope you stay safe and don't loose power!!pixiedust:

Departure days are always so sad, but I would imagine Le Cellier would help fight the sadness quite nicely. I think going to the parks on the last day is a great idea, even if you can't stay too long.

We're going to MNSSHP on 10/6. I wanted to fit it into the schedule sort of closer to the end of the week. I'd love to do two parties, like you, but I'm just not sure if its worth the money, since we'd have the boys with us and they're kind of unpredictable staying up that late.

I hope everything is going well up there with the hurricane. We managed to survive. :rotfl: It's still a little windy out there so everything is canceled, but the rain has stopped (8 inches) and we still have power.

I hate reading about departure days, but that dessert looks pretty darn awesome.

I hope you end up liking jet blue - at least they have TV's.

Hate departure day, but plans sound great :)

Hope you guys are well and safe :)

LOL, I know, I'll be checking the time obsessively on that last day too! :rotfl:

Thanks! We lost power for a minute, but it came right back on...but we still have the whole day to get through, so I'm sure we will lose it sometime! :confused3 I just hope if/when it does go out, it's not out for days! :scared1:

I'm happy we will be in the parks on our last day, I think it's going to be a nice change, extend our vacation a little longer than we normally do! :thumbsup2

10/6 is the 2nd party we're going to go to! I'll keep an eye out for you guys, but I'm seriously terrible at recognizing people in person, especially if I don't have my glasses on! I can understand you not doing 2 parties, I wouldn't if I had young kids either! I'm not exactly happy about spending the money for 2 parties, the only way I'm justifying it in my mind is because I have no idea when we will be back in October! So I want to take advantage of it while we're there! :maleficen

Thanks! Everything seems to be ok for now, but I have a feeling the power will be going out soon. It seems like a lot of people in CT have no power, so I have no idea how we still have it, but I'm not complaining! :woohoo:

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with our departure day! :thumbsup2 I'm sure I will cry at some point, but I always cry at the end of a Disney trip!

I do like Jet Blue, we used them for our Disneymoon, and I liked the tv's, but I just prefer Southwest! I don't like how Jet Blue always changes their times, and I don't like how they charge you a fee to change a flight!

Hate departure day, but plans sound great :)

Hope you guys are well and safe :)

Thanks! We're ok for now! I'm hoping we can keep our power on through this whole thing, it's supposed to last a few more hours...if we can make it through the worst of it without losing power, we should be good! :thumbsup2

Need some advice!

Hi guys! So I need some advice...I'm sure I've mentioned before that I'm kind of a paranoid freak about germs, I hate getting sick, and I try to do everything I can to prevent getting sick! One of the things I've done for the past couple of years is get a flu shot.

I asked this question on the theme parks boards, but I wanted to ask you guys too...I normally get the flu shot around when I'll be in Disney this year, the end of September/beginning of October. So I was thinking of getting it early this year, so I'll be protected in Disney...but I'm nervous about getting sick from the actual shot! I mean, I know the shot itself won't make you sick, but it does lower your immune system for a few weeks, right? Making it more likely that you'll get sick?

I don't want to get sick before Disney OR worse, at Disney! :scared1: So I'm wondering if I should just wait until I get back? It seems too risky to get it before, like I'm going to be freaking out about getting sick the whole time from it if I do get it, so much that I'll make myself sick!

It would be ok if I waited until I got back right? :confused3 I mean, early October isn't exactly flu season, so I could go to FL and come back and get it when I get home and it would be ok...

I've been going back and forth with this for days...one minute I'm ready to get the shot tomorrow, the next minute I freak out and think I should wait until after my trip! I don't know what the best thing would be! I'm leaning towards waiting until we get home as of now, but I want to know what you guys would do if you were me! :flower3:

It's so sad to have to think about departure days before they happen! It sounds like yours will at least be fun, though! We always just get up early for our departure day and hit the road. Since we drive, I always figure that going into a park would wear me out and make the drive that much harder. If we flew, I think we'd definitely pop into a park for a while, though! :thumbsup2

As far as the flu shot goes, I would wait until you get back, but I've also never had a flu shot because so many people I know that get it end up getting sick. They offered them at my work last year and so many of the people that got them were out sick the following week! I always just take my chances, and so far I've never had the flu.

Hope you guys stay safe and that you feel very little of the storm's effects! :goodvibes

I was always told to get it in Nov which is when I get mine. The longer into fall you wait, the longer it will carry you till the spring. I've heard this from my college wellness center and my doctor in PA and Ohio. I say wait and bring lots of sanitizer with you!

Lol if I was you I wouldn't have the shot at all! I have a phobia of needles and it takes me multiple trips to the doctors just to get one tiny needle put in my arm! :rotfl: My mum used to have to bribe me to get my blood tests done!

Anyway I would say wait until you return - you def don't want to risk getting sick at Disney World
