So the suspense is over.... our new DIS memeber is here!!! :earsgirl:

Dame D..I throughly enjoyed your fashion police photos. :earseek: :rotfl2: Looking forward to more reports on theme park faux pas! :teeth: I'll have my eyes peeled and my camera ready for our trip to "the world" next week! Hopefully I'll find some "blunders" to share! :rolleyes1

Ta-ta!!! :wave2:

While I am usually all for welcoming people aboard, I refuse to welcome "Dame Doris". I feel the whole concept is mean and juvenile. I mean its so junior high. "Lets make fun of others cause we're so cool" More like "lets make fun of others to make ourselves feel better about us" I can't believe the people who run the DIS boards think this is appropriate or "disney" in the least. I hope she is short lived and goes quietly into the night.

Shelly

I'm in agreement with you Shelly! I know the DIS can be addicting, even I feel the urge to check daily, but to spend (waste) your time on this is ridiculous to me. Is this "Dame" supposed to be a moderator or what? I hope not, I thought moderators stopped garbage like this. The bad shoe thing is funny, this is taking it way too far. Really, this has nothing specific to do with Disney in any way, so why bother? :sad2:

Go start a "blog" site...

Stupid, idiotic, mean-spirited concept. Esentially the "Dame" is saying that only people who dress to her sense of fashion are welcome at Disney. Everyone else will be made fun of.

Goes totally against what I thought was the spirit of this board.

I doubt that anyones intentions are to be hurtful, notice that in the pictures no one's face is showing. People need to learn to take things in the manner in which they are intended and get a sense of humor!!

I think mean spiritedness shows up in many ways including in the above posts.

Welcome Dame Doris, I'm looking forward to reading more reviews!! :wave2:

While I don't think it's mean-spirited, I'll go down the "what's the point" route. :confused3 Like someone else said, it really has nothing to do with Disney. I looked once...don't care enough to ever look again. Like others, there's plenty of other things to do on the boards and Dame whoever is not something I care about enough to look at again.

My first (and current) reaction to reading about this in my DIS newsletter is that it's mean-spirited. What is pleasant about making fun of how other people look? Sorry, I guess I'm too busy having fun at WDW to analyze and critique other people's attire. I certainly don't want to read about it in a newsletter. I like the fact that we all look different from each other and have different taste!

Geez...I hope she knows based on some of the clues, that some of us were calling her Miss Piggie.

I think nit-picky fashion "tips" would be rude, but there are people who go to the amusements parks in "OMG who told you that looked good outfits". I am no fashionista, but shouldn't there be someone out there to let the lady I saw at Great America last weekend in a butt cheek showing one piece skin tight jean outfit that didn't fit with black hose and high heeled lace up the calf shoes that "no that's not what you wear to an amusement park". Granted it COULD take a turn towards mean spirited, especially if there is anything about "too chubby for that" stuff going on. Some people really are ridiculous though. I mean on Mother's Day should I have to stand between my son and the girl who thinks we all want to know her thong is from Victoria Secret?

I agree with those who say it's mean spirited, juvenile, and dumb. People go to WDW to have fun, not be picked on for what they wear. I also hope this fashion section is short lived. :sad2:

I'm glad to see others feel as I do. My first reaction was one of disapproval. And I don't think it goes along with the Disney spirit at all. It may be "all in fun" but what if you suddenly find your picture plastered on there! I don't want to have to be worried about what I wear everytime I step out of my hotel room - I'm on vacation to relax and have fun. I also hope she disappears quietly and quickly. :(

Add me to the "It's mean and what's the point?" camp. It's vacation for God's sake, and if someone wants to wear bright floral pants or a Miller Time t shirt, then more power to them!

Edited to add: And how mean is it to say "roll out the barrel?" Wouldn't you be terribly hurt if that was you?

Roll out the Barrel...

..as it would most certainly look better than this polyester mess. I’m not entirely certain what’s happening here - it looks like she’s wearing Andre the Giant’s thong and the seat cover from a 1977 Dodge Dart.

While I'm sure this is all intended as humor, it could easily not come across as such.

This is the kind of stuff I'm trying to teach my kids not to do. I grew up a coal miner's daughter (I can hear the music now...) There wasn't a lot of money to go around so I was lucky to have the clothes I did. I have no idea how/why people make the decisions to wear what they do but I'm going to err on the side of kindness and not make any comments as long as they follow public decency laws.

Clothes really don't make the man, woman, or Disney fan. This is not a feature I will read again.

THIS was what all the hype and suspense was about? Geez, I thought the DIS was more mature than this! :sad2: Here's hoping that the powers that be wake up to how juvenile this is. The DIS is better than this... I hope.

I'm also very DISappointed in the webmasters for coming up with such a mean spirited page. It's not just the pictures but the tone is very very mean spirited. I hope it goes away very very quickly....

I am sad that such a thing would be tolerated on this board, much less promoted.

It is mean spirited and so completely un-disney like - making fun of what people wear, and how they look, and where they come from.

Its just - hurtful and hateful.
