Weird way to save?

I have been saving like this, but wondering if it is too weird. I go to the bank and turn in my dollars (or 5's occasionally) for rolls of change. I am more likely to spend any dollars from my change jar... but not likely to open a roll of dimes or nicklels.

Nope, I don't think it's weird at all. I'd probably open and dump them though. Having them rolled still would be too tempting for me to use. :) Although I'd probably just open a savings account so I didn't have to worry about the money sitting around my house. :)

That is one thing I miss about using cash...POCKET CHANGE! We saved over $600 for our honeymoon that way.

My husband's favorite thing to do is to get dollar coins. We then have a "treasure" chest that he keeps it in.

We're less likely to spend it this way.

That's a good idea. I don't think any way to save money is weird. :)

Honestly, I do think it is a little odd...but if it works that is great.

I do the opposite. If I want to make sure I don't want to spend cash I get a large bill. Just cashed a $50 rewards check and made sure I got a $50 bill. I put it straight into my Disneyland wallet, for spending money on our trip in 2 weeks.

We save money like that too... will buy rolls of change when cashing our checks. Dumping them is a must though, because other wise they are way too easy to access! We have a 5 gallon water jug!

LOVE the idea of dollar coins!! MUCH easier to count - and fun to boot! :)

The place I work has a cashier so I would stop and get a roll of quarters on payday. Add that to any loose dollars at the end of the day that I would dump into the jug. I just counted for our trip and I have over $600 in bills and over $200 in change. This is our spending money.

I love saving this way and my son is starting to do it too now.

I think next year I am going to add the $5 bill saving too. Sounds like a fun way to save.

Not at all weird, I even stop by the carwash and use their coin exchanger and when at the bank, I ask for the dollar coins.
Any one dollar bills I have, go into the "mousekeeping envelopes" - that's one expense that is paid for ahead of all else! Now, to start stuffing my dining tip envelopes!
