Weird thing when I paid cash at CM's

On our last night, I decided to pay with cash at Chef Mickey's. The bill was brought to our table and it was $30 something (just 2 of us) so I inserted my DDE card and two $20 bills. She took it and when she returned, my discount was reflected on my receipt and my change was in there too, but the $10 bill was in Disney Dollars.

I thought this was very strange, and while it didn't really matter to me, we will spend it eventually, I didn't think they should have done that without asking me. Is this common? I usually pay with my room card, so I really don't know.

They are not supposed to take cash before the DDE discount is applied. We have been told by several servers that they have a policy about that.

As for getting the money back in Disney Dollars, it is sporadic. I think if they happen to have some in the register, then they attempt to distribute it. You can always ask for regular money but they are probably trying to keep everything at Disney.

I think it would be cool to get Disney dollars back for change! I know my kids would love it.

that is odd considering when i worked in the stores we were told specifically not to give out disney dollars as change even if it was asked for. (ours we got like when someone paid with it didnt always look the best) we were told it was so we werent giveing out bad looking Disney dollars
(so it just became policey not to give it even if it was folded or anything.)

I've never received Disney Dollars in exchange for regular "cash".

I think that would be kind of cool too!!
