OK, DIS doctors, I have some questions, and would like your opinions! ;)

OK, I've been having some weird symptoms for a couple of months that have gotten progressively worse. Lots of bloating and gas bubbles, sometimes painful, mostly in the hour or two after a meal. I always feel like I'm stuffed, as if I just ate a Thanksgiving feast, but I don't think I ate that much... I feel much better when I lie down or am standing/walking. Some days I am sitting at my desk at work in pain, but I feel better if I get up to take a walk. I had to unbutton my pants on a long car trip recently because I was so uncomfortable. Sometimes I feel like my abdomen is actually stretching - there is even a slight burning/pulling/tearing sensation. I had 2 c-sections - could I have pulled a stitch?! Once I go to the bathroom (1 or 2) I feel much better, for a while. If it goes on much longer I will go to the doctor, but the symptoms are so weird I am afraid I would be fine when I went and the doctor would think I'm crazy. At first I thought it was because I changed vitamins to 2 big horse pills... but I've taken them one in the am, one in the pm, both with a large meal at dinner, you name it, and it hasn't helped. I finally gave up the vitamins earlier this week and stopped drinking green tea, just in case it was that. I thought it could be something I ate? I've been trying to eat more fiber & protein. Could something be getting stuck in the pipes, lol? I'm not constipated, if that helps  I just turned 40... Am I finally falling apart? Could it be a weird menopause symptom? I feel like my grandmother, obsessed with digestion and BM's :scared1:

So what the heck do you think this could be? TIA

Try taking something like beano or gasx. It may not help but based on the symptoms you listed that may help. I hope you start to feel better soon. :)

It sounds like there is something in your diet that your body isn't tolerating well anymore. What began as a very mild allergy or enzymes out of balance may have escalated.

I would try keeping a food diary, and notes of when you have issues. I would also try eating one Activia or similar enzyme loaded supplement a day and see if that improves it.

I second the pp - any time I hear a woman talk about bloating, I think they should get to a gyno and then an ultrasound TODAY

The other one I keep alert for - because there have been some good DIS husbands & fathers (and also closer to home some friends) lost to it is pancreatic cancer. Thankfully very rare, but by the time the symptoms really trouble you - and the comments about how changing your position changes the feeling is one of the symptoms then things are prolematic.

One of the other issues you did not remark on is if there has been any change in the toilet department. That is one thing your doctor will want to know about.

Let us know how you get on

I had weird symptoms like that for about a year. Turns out my gall bladder failed. Any vomiting at all?

Regardless, my doctor missed it and I went in three different times with stomach issues. Christmas night I ended up in the hospital and had surgery and now I'm much better.

It was mostly the bloaty feeling and the yucky feeling after eating that caught my attention in your post. At least, when you go to see your doctor, mention it.

Go get a colonoscopy. I got one at 41 and had 2 precancerous polyps removed. Go to the GI doc and see what they have to say.:thumbsup2

Oh and there is no 100% positive test for ovarian cancer. Comforting isn't it?:sad2:

Could you be lactose intolerant? I developed that in my mid-30's and couldn't eat anything dairy without popping a Lactaid pill first. The symptoms improved a good bit after I had my gall bladder removed but I still can't have ice cream or anything rich like that without issues.

I had the same type of symptoms but my main complaint was the fullness no matter how little I ate. I also had a hard time getting a deep breath as it felt something was squeezing my stomach.

My ultrasound came back clear as well but after a year of suffering and change of diet didnt work my Doc decide to run more tests including something called a HIDA scan. Turns out even though I did not have any gallstones I was suffering from GallBladder Disease! My Gall Bladder only functioned at 3% and was slowly calcifying itself (yech!). So the recommendation is to have it removed....now I just have to get brave enough to have the surgery.

The sooner the better cause I dont want it to get infected or burst which are two things the Doc said could happen :scared1:

OMG! Gallbladder? Never thought of that.

I did get a complete GYN check up about a month ago and all was good. I called yesterday to make an appt. with my GP but couldn't get an appt. sooner than one week from now.

I stopped taking all vitamins and stopped drinking green tea 2 days ago and today I feel fine. Could it be the tea? I used to rarely drink tea, but I've been drinking it almost every day for almost 2 months. I know I cannot tolerate coffee any more than once a week, if that, or I get gas pains, etc. I'll keep you posted.

Keep a food diary....then call a doctor.

I had a time period where I realized that I required Tagament after meals....

Turns out that my tummy doesn't like fried breaded foods (like chicken, funnel cakes, etc) or lots of melted butter. While I still have a little bit every once in a while....my stomach can't really tolerate much of it. Since I cut all that out--bye bye tagament and no issues.

So it could be serious, it could be something simple. Document and set up an appointment.

(Oddly though--I can eat french fries no problem...in fact sometimes when I am feeling nauseous--the french fries are a welcome relief. I don't get it!)

I am so sorry and I can totally sympathize! Stomach issues are horrible! I've been suffering for a long time with nausea, gas, major discomfort. After all kinds of tests it was determined that I have bacteria in my small intestine. I've been on two different courses of antibiotics and I'm finally starting to feel better, thank God! I don't know if that's your issue, but I thought I'd throw it out there, because I never heard of it before my dx.
Good luck- I hope you find out what it is soon. I'd get to a GI asap.

I stopped taking all vitamins and stopped drinking green tea 2 days ago and today I feel fine.

I tried taking vitamins and they made me queasy. I tried taking them at different times of the day (and night), with food or without food, tried different brands and types. They all gave me the same feeling, so I stopped and didn't have any issues after that. I just make sure to eat well balanced meals. So if you feel better after stopping, that could have something to do with it. but I would definitely get it checked out further.

I had issues with taking vitamins. Made me have heartburn and generally feel icky no matter what time of day I took them or if I took them with food. I finally switched to a liquid nutritional supplement and that did the trick. Something if the OTC vitamin pills doesn't like me.

Watch the green tea. A friend of my aunts was drinking alot of it and ended up with kidney problems.

Your symptoms are almost identical to the symptoms my brother(41) endured. His stomach cramping/pain went from mild and sporadic to eventually intense and constant. He suffered with constant bloating, and he too could not sit for long periods of time due to the cramping. After many tests that all came back normal, a colonoscopy finally revealed the problem. To both his and his Dr.'s relief and shock, all of his symptoms were caused by huge internal hemorhoids. He had no idea that hemorhoids could cause such problems, and he wasn't even aware that he had them. He is currently deciding on a treatment for them.

Hoping you can make a discovery soon...Hugs to you!

OK, this is my 4th day without the green tea. Just to test, I took a multivitamin after breakfast and a vitamin c after dinner. No problems! It must have been the tea! I will wait until later in the week just to be sure before I cancel the doctor appointment though. Thanks everyone!
