Weird Question-swim diapers required for regular parks?

I was reading some older threads and someone mentioned that at some wet areas (like Donald's boat) that a CM may ask you to remove your child if they notice them getting wet in a regular diaper rather than a swim diaper.

Has anyone had any issues with this?

And also aside from Donald's boat and some splashing fountains at Epcot-do you know of any other water play areas for small kids at any of the 4 main parks?
TIA

not sure about the swim diapers, but there are wet areas that I know of in Epcot (Between TT and MS) and in the Bone Yard at AK.

Pooh's Playful Spot across from the Pooh ride has wet play areas, and I believe Ariel's Grotto does as well. I think there are signs by each area that say something about swim diapers or something comparable for little ones who aren't potty trained, but I'm not sure. We hadn't planned on visiting the Playful Spot one day, and our daughter was soaked. She wasn't wearing a swim diaper, but she had her regular shorts on, too. I didn't notice any CM around to enforce anything, but I obviously would have gotten her out of there if her diaper had leaked or anything. Actually, there was a woman letting her daughter run around totally nude now that I think about it. The only reason I remember is because her daughter looked to be a little too old to be doing it, but to each his own! :hippie:

I dont think they require it, but Im taking swim pants for my DS1 for the parks for the water areas. Im gonna let him play and then change him into regular diapers for later.

Thanks for your replies. I plan on taking a one-piece change of clothes for DD every day just in case, but did not want to have to add a swim diaper to my backpack if not needed. I figure I will just change her when she gets wet in the play areas and let the wet clothes hang on the back of the stroller to dry off. In Spetember I don't think that will take toooo long!:wizard:

So known water play areas:

Donald's Boat

Pooh's Playful Spot

Ariel's Grotti

and between TT and MS in EPCOT. Anywhere else you can think of?:goodvibes

there is a reason they would appreciate the swim diapers.
when a regular diaper gets too full it explodes leaving these little white dots, like fake snow. they are a mess and very hard to clean up. plus no one wants to walk on another kids urine soaked mess.
a swim diaper doesnt do that, but they also dont hold in urine. so even though its very difficult for a germaphobe like me to let my child walk around where others are peeing, i do it and i put him in a swim diaper:scared:

Just so you know, urine is sterile, so it's okay to walk around in! :rotfl2:

Besides all that, getting a diaper wet in a fountain gets it MUCH wetter than it would get in the normal course of things, even if it wasn't changed for hours. Little kids can easily lose their balance and fall a lot with that much weight on them.

Actually, urine excreted by healthy kidneys is sterile. Sterile or not, does anyone really want to walk in urine? I do love when people use the "urine is sterile" phrase for whatever reason. Still doesn't change the fact that sitting on a urine soaked toilet is gross.

There are a couple of spots in MGM that have squirting fire hydrants and Downtown Disney has a water fountain area. As for the diaper thing, it is gross to see a little one with a huge water soaked diaper on leaking who knows what! Our last visit we noticed quite a few little ones around 3 - 5 years old playing naked in the fountains. Maybe it's a cultural thing? We also saw people washing their babys' bare bottoms in water fountains. YUCK! Bottled water anyone?

See the thing is that if you put them in a swim diaper too early and they pee--it goes all over the shorts everything... so while the diapers can get big and explode, at least they keep everything in if you change them in time.
My son will be 18 months--so what do I do, go and change him then let him play by pooh's spot or donald and then go change him again. ARe there restrooms close by to these spots?>?

That is the same dilemma we are having-I think I will take the swim diapers and see how wet she gets. Like I know at Donald's Boat she will have to wait for her big bro to ride Goofy's Barnstormer, so she will probably play for quite a while and a regular diaper would be filled to capacity in no time! But at smaller areas (like a squirting fountain) I will probably wait until I see if she really needs a swim diaper vs. her regular one before changing her.
