Hi everyone :)

My dad and sister (16yo) are going to down in a couple of weeks to WDW. I'm dropping in a day into their vacation to surprise my sister and to be with them for 2.5 days. My dad's aware I'm doing this. I want to take the ME but I know you have to be on the reservation in order to do this. Normally this wouldn't a problem but my sister already noticed on the MDE app that a few dining reservations have 3 guests instead of two, which my dad lied about and said the system had problems and it's just a glitch. I don't think he could get away with that lie twice when she would eventually see me (or just a third guest) listed on the reservation.

So, is there a work around for this? My thought was to have my dad enter me on the reservation after they check in the first day in the hopes my sis won't notice anything on the app while we're there. I'm kind of at a loss and really don't want this surprise spoiled for her. I welcome any thoughts/advice!

Thank you!!

You're staying in their room, correct? You should be listed on the reservation regardless, whether your dad adds you in advance or at check-in. They keep record of registered guests in the hotel in the event of an emergency, and in other cases, for extra person charges in the room (you wouldn't be subject to this because the third person is under 18).

You can be added to the reservation when you arrive, thereby keeping the surprise. You do not have to be added before you arrive.

I don't know of any way you can do ME without being on the reservation beforehand, however.

Again...just cab it or Uber.

Thanks for the all the responses! Cab/uber seems to be pretty pricey, so I think we're going to try to add me to the reservation close to our check-in and hope she won't notice. I appreciate the help!

I'm following along because my dad plans to do the same thing in August. My mom and I are headed down to Disney World for a few days and my dad's joining us on our last night because we're all going on a Disney Cruise the next day. We were told by Disney that if we add him to the reservation when we check in, he'll be able to ride DME. I was wondering if you could post back about your experience so we know what to expect? Thanks!

Yes, you can add someone to your reservation after check in (as long as room occupancy hasn't been exceeded) and ALSO add them to ME at that point. We have done this a few times over the years with no problems at all.

One year, my brother joined us for a few days in the middle of our trip. After my parents checked in, they added him to their room and then later that night I called and arranged ME for him. Obviously the yellow tags won't arrive in time so you can either just use carry ons or if you do check any bags, give the claim tickets and a description at the ME desk. They will also print out your ME voucher at the airport if needed.

Have fun!!

Personally, for just one person's checked luggage, I would collect it myself and take it on the bus with me. If you're arriving after 10:00pm you have to do that anyway.

Just my $.02 worth.......

UberBlack huh? I read about that, just to be clear isn't that the limo service Uber provides?

It's a luxury vehicle the Uber driver will pick you up - Cadillac, Mercedes, SUV, etc. The prices are akin to other sedan services, which are a step up from a taxi but not a limo.

Have you used their services before? We've always used DME in the past but our trip in late October lands us at MCO at 8:17pm. According to several posters they suggest when arriving this late we should secure our own bags then head over to DME counter. Personally I don't want to wait like forever just to get to our resort, would UberBlack get us there quicker?

I've used Uber and UberBlack many times. It will get you there faster after you collect your bags. BUT, the fare estimate shows $75-$100 from MCO to WDW. It's up to you whether a 30-60 minute time advantage is worth that cost to you. As a side note, Uber fares include tip, generally don't have car seats readily available, and I don't know for certain with UberBlack but the max passenger on other Uber services is 4 people (in addition to the driver).

Yeah, UberBlack prices are equal to other typical sedan/private car services. It's UberX that's the "cheap" service Uber provides, and they are not permitted to pick up from MCO at this time.
