We are arguing right now about this room we stayed in 4-5 years ago. It was a studio with Savannah view in Jambo House. We were scrimping on points and DW booked it for us two. The discussion is... she says she got it because it was cheap on points, and she called it a value room. But I was saying I didn't think value studios had Savannah view, and I doubt it could be anyway because we booked it just 3 months prior. But she insists it was cheaper points said also they treated us more like hotel guests not DVC Members, whatever that means lol. Maybe it was because we were in Jambo, I don't know.
Any clue what we are talking about?

Similar experience for us. We booked a 1 bedroom value less than 60 days before our May 2021 trip. We ended up with a 1 bedroom on Kudu Trail not far from the feeding area. I didn’t think that was a value room because it seemed like it should be a Savanna view room. But when I posted it here, one person said it was a value room and some value rooms supposedly have full on savanna views.

Interesting. So you can get value rooms on short notice sometimes. Probably the reason we got it was because it was just 4 nights and we were flexible about when we went.

I think we just lucked out because of Covid availability, because it was one night due to a shift of flights, and because of people likely not wanting to stay at Jambo when nothing was really open and the entire hotel side was closed.

40% of the value rooms have savanna view -- they are value because of smaller size than other rooms not because of view. However, when getting value rooms, you cannot make location requests so getting one that is savanna view is luck of the draw. Also be aware, that more than half the standard view rooms (also cheaper in point cost than savanna view) at Jambo also have savanna view, although the view might not be quite as good as a savanna view room. And you can make location requests for standard view, e.g., a request for room along Kudo Trail, the left wing of the building, if granted, will necessarily result in a room with a savanna view since all standard view rooms on that side of the building have a savanna view.

The link below is a map of the DVC rooms on the 5th floor of Jambo House. The Values are along the Ostrich and Giraffe Trails at the front of the resort. The rooms shown in white along those trails are standard hotel rooms which weren't converted to DVC units.

Thank you! So, while we booked a value 1 bedroom, we were given a unit along Kudu Trail; it seems we were pixie dusted and given a unit that was not a value unit.
