Weird/important stuff to bring on a cruise

Things we found handy:
An old Key to the World card to stick in the slot to activate the lights. We were on the Dream and there needed to be a card in the slot by the door to make the lights work. Rather than keep putting in and taking out one of our cruise keycards, we just brought an old one from a WDW trip and left that in the slot. Not sure every ship is like that.

Regarding the previous clothespin comment - they can come in handy for a lot of things including clipping your drapes closed if there is a gap and you don't want morning sun to wake you.

Other things we found handy - a lanyard for our keycards. I didn't mind wearing one and then I always knew where it was. Helpful if you don't want to carry a bag or don't have pockets.

A beach tote for your Castaway Cay day. We didn't bring one last time and I regretted not bringing one and some clothes to put on after snorkeling. We have our own snorkel gear this time so definitely bringing one.

A bathing suit cover up. It can be a long walk from your stateroom to the pool. I liked having a coverup dress on so I didn't just feel like I was wandering everywhere in just my bathing suit.

We have used key cards from previous cruises or resort stays. I keep them in my toiletry bag. Also, your stateroom host can get you one, they gave one to our parents once.

That cabin can get really small if someone has to "go".

We pack the travel size of Poo-Pourri. It's a lifesaver! I keep it in my travel bag so it's permanently in my suitcase for all trips, no matter the location.

We took our first cruise this past Feb.
I wish I would have purchased post it notes to leave notes for members of the family and the stateroom host.

Things that came in handy:
Laundry detergent (was able to wash a few things out right away)
Cord wraps
Waterproof Camera
Reusable cup and straw
Mini first aid kit w/meds (ended up needing the Pepto, Band-Aids and Advil)
Baby wipes (great for hands and small spills)
Powerbank
Wrinkle releaser/Febreze
Waterproof lanyards (mine was big enough to fit my phone, cards and meal tickets in Nassau)

Maybe? It looks like a wireless speaker and is runs on lithium ion. Some people use them on airplanes but I guess there is always a chance. I have read about people using a standard air purifier in the room on other cruise lines

Every stateroom I've ever been in has a laundry bag in the closet already. What's the benefit of bringing your own?

We recently switched the whole family to the long-sleeve UV swim shirts so we've cut down our sunscreen needs to a single bottle for a full week, plus a face stick.

The only problem with using the laundry bag they provide is taking all of your dirty clothes back out and having to pack it with your clean stuff that didn't get worn. If I have my own dirty laundry bag, it goes back home with me with my dirty stuff still in it so I know what's dirty and what's not when I get home.

That makes sense. I don't think we ever really go home with clean laundry. We plan our packing pretty carefully and wear just about everything we bring.

One thing that I bring that gets a lot of use is that blue, tacky putty that you use to hang things like posters with. I'm not sure of the name of it. I put a dot of that on the bottom of things like my little travel fan and even ink pens, or anything that tends you want to stay put, to keep things from rolling around or falling over. I also like to bring an alarm clock that has a light up display. The putty is also good for keeping the curtains tacked to the wall but I use a chip clip as well. Post it notes so that you can tell travel partners where you went are good too.

Hello! We are scheduled for Wish in late September. Planning on KN95 masks outside eating and outside air areas due to underlying conditions and training for half marathon. I have 2 small personal hepa air purifiers was planning on bringing (like 6 inches tall)- will these be allowed? They are rechargeable via USB. Were you allowed to bring yours?

Yes I was allowed to bring them. They are also allowed on planes in case you were wondering

Adding this: Last cruise, I brought along my Stanley tumbler for the soda station. The cups provided are super tiny and I like to have a drink with me during the day (without having to run up to the top deck every time).

Pro tip: I put a piece of masking tape on the outside with my name and stateroom # just in case I left it somewhere (I didn't do that, but that is very much something I would do - so I was prepared just in case).

I got the 40 oz one as a gift, so that's what I brought because I already had it. But they have similar stuff at Walmart for way less.

We bring stainless and whatever size you like. Mine is close to 20 oz, but DH brings the big Yeti (we bought a slip on handle for it). We like to have a drink with us all the time, and these work well. I will dump my Captain's Mai Tai in it to keep it cold too.

The plastic tervis are not good because sunscreen messes them up, but other than that, whatever drink cup you like.

We purchased several Wish specific Tervis on our cruise and used those. Worked great for us.

I used to bring so much stuff, but after cruising I have these things as my must haves:
1. Refillable cup or mug
2. magnet hooks a. we place one behind the door, laynard ( room key) go there first when we walk in and are there in our face to remind us to take the key with when we leave. b. if the hook holds a lot of weight ( depends on ship and wall) we also use them to hang hats and lighter things ( coverup, cardigans)
3. a type of shoe I can wear as a "house shoe" on board... something quick to slip on to run and grab food, see a show, or get a drink.. For warm weather cruises easy as flip flops work here, but for colder weather cruises, I make sure I have something with.
4. A packable duffle with wheels. This I use to carry my water and wine onboard and while sailing this is my laundry basket and if I end up with too much stuff I bought, an extra piece of luggage.
5. Laundtry pods and medical/emergency kit (OTC, bandaids,) nail scissors and tweezers. Never know when those come in handy.
