Weird...I have never liked country music....but...

You might want to check out Alan Jackson. And Trace Adkins. They're my favorites along with the old outlaw, Willie Nelson. :)

I just love music. I listen to all types. George Strait is one of my all time favs. :D

Hi lisa. The same thing happened to me last yr. My fiance thinks its because "country" music has changed so much. Its more like soft rock now, not that twangy stuff. I can't seem to focus on any other music right now.

Some of the country artists I enjoy are:
The Dixie Chicks
Brooks & Dunn
Kenny Chesney
Faith Hill
Tim McGraw
Trisha Yearwood
Phil Vassar

You are not a true Country Fan, until you are a Dixie Chicks fan! I dare you to listen to ANY of their songs, and NOT like 'em!

And for all of you who are wondering why you like Country all of a sudden, it's my opinion (which means absolutely nothing:p) that as Pop moved towards RAP and other genres, Country seemed to move towards a POP style. I think that's why there is so much crossover these days.

Enjoy!

I like most kinds of music but was never able to really get into the whole "pop country" thing (my Brother, who is a musician, calls it "bubblegum country"). Some of the artists who are out now will occasionally come out with a song I like, but if I'm going to listen to country, give me Willie and Waylon anyday over the current crop :D

Faith Hill also seems to be going towards pop a lot right now. I'm downloading songs from her new (actually unreleased until the 15th) CD and it has a lot of pop-sounding songs on it.

One hand
Reaches out
And pulls a lost soul from harm
While a thousand more
Go unspoken for
They say what good have you done
By saving just this one
It's like whispering a prayer
In the fury of a storm

And I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know
That it will not change me.

This heart
Still believes
That love and mercy still exist
While all the hatreds rage and so many say
That love is all but pointless in madness such as this
It's like trying to stop a fire
With the moisture from a kiss

And I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know
That it will not change me

As long as one heart still holds on
Then hope is never really gone

I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world we know
Never changes me

What I do is so
This world will know
That it will not change me.

Garth Brooks

I am a big country music fan! My favorite, as you can tell by my avatar, is Alan Jackson... he is more traditional country, if you find you like that. Not to mention, he is not hard on the eyes! ;) I've enjoyed him for years, and he is very talented, writting most of his songs.

I also love the voice of Martina McBride. She can sing without music and it would still sound wonderful.

Toby Keith is a favorite, as is Kenney Chesney, Joe Diffie, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley and the Dixie Chicks. I'm sick of Tim & Faith, but Faith is more "pop" than country, in my opinion. I enjoy the groups Rascal Flats, Trick Pony and Diamond Rio... they are all great, high energy groups.

Let me know if you want any other opinions... I love my country music!!! :)

Leahannpenn, I agree with almost all of your picks (except for Alan Jackson.)

You've GOT TO like Alan Jackson if for NO other song than

Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?

I can't listen to that song without bawling!!!!!

I do like that song, actually....I like some of his newer stuff, but not most of the older stuff.

I absolutely love 2 of Toby Keith's
Billy the Kid
Dreamwalking
and I got Alan Jackson's greatest hits...very good..
Garth Brook's greatest hits..
Colin Raye's greatest hits...
Just to name a few...:o
Dixie Chicks are good too...:)
there are a couple of songs by Garth Brooks that don't get played on the radio(at least around here), I think the names are Belle-wood & Ireland...very good also...:)
Can't forget about Shania Twain...:o
So many more I am leaving out...

2 of my all time favs are Lorrie Morgan and Vince Gill.

The song "The Change" by Garth Brooks makes me cry everytime I see the video...and I am not a Garth fan.

I love George Strait, Martina McBride, Reba, Faith Hill and her Hubby..Trisha Yearwood is good, so is Kenny Chesney...I have downloaded a lot of stuff from Kazaa...it gets addicting.

I find myself writing down songs on hear on the radio when I'm driving, then getting home and burning them...this works out great because there are so many times that I hear a song and think "I really like this"..then when I get home I forget all about it...if I write it down I take care of it as soon as I get home.

Well, I'll try not to be too offended!!! ;)

(wow, i can't believe you don't like A.J. :( (sniff, sniff))

I don't know if he's too traditional for my tastes or what....For some reason, I don't like MOST of the traditional artists (but I do like Tanya Tucker, Johnny Cash, and Pam Tillis.)

I have always liked Country. Not ALL country though. Leann Rhymes and other Britney want-to-bee should all be banned, in my opinion. I LOVE Travis Tritt (we're going to see him at HOB during our WDW trip this year!), Marty Stewart, Dwight Yoakum, Montgomery/Gentry & yes, even the Dixie Chicks... You know the Southern Rock of Country

However, on the oposite end, my favorite Rock bands are Lynard Skynard (sp), Black Crowes, Georgia Satellites, even Kid Rock (lately)... there seems to be a very fine line here, not quite sure where country stops and rock begins?!
