Ok I went on a horrible date this evening. lol, meh you live and learn, better to get out than just sit here all the time. Although I did have a something weird happen, the guy handing out ck samples at Sears handed me one and said "don't worry you'll be loved someday" What? was he psychic? it didn't hit me until i was walking around the mall after I had told the date there was no sense in continuing this any longer.

Thank God I am going to WDW in less than 2 weeks

Wow. Too weird. Sorry about the date, but I agree with you. No sense in wasting any time at all on something that obviously isn't working for you (or either of you).

Wow... that's an odd thing for someone to say to a passerby. Well, I hope you do find your soul mate :)

sometimes when you kiss a frog he turns into...or you turn into...or something like that. Oh wait. I am all confused now. That story is different. Or is it only different in the Bayou. Guess that is a bad analogy. Let's try again.

Good luck on the next date. As they say...ya gotta kiss a lot of frogs until you find that prince.

I wish you the best...I can tell you, for us, it was when we were least expecting it, that we met. We knew instantly, THIS was it. So, just enjoy life, and it WILL happen! ;)

lol

I hate to say, I went through a lot of crappy ones to finally found the right one. Even when I "thought" I had the right one before, I knew deep down I didn't. I knew within the first hour of meeting my partner that this was it.

Keep trying. He's out there.

Strange thing to say to a stranger, but hopefully it gave you comfort. If it makes you feel any better I think there's more than the "one", I like to think we each get a few to pick from and eventually one of them shows up, so here's to improving your odds :drinking:

I totally believe that there is more then one person out there for everybody. I don't believe in there being "only one". That's silly. I've been lucky to have more then one love of my life. One decided that I wasn't his true love, another passed away, now I'm with the man I believe is the love of my life. At least I hope so. :)

It happened to me when I was the least expecting it. I went out with losers, doctors, scientists etc., and then BAM! I met my soon to be DH on Christmas Eve 9 years ago. Who knew?? I believe that it happens when you least expect it. Perhaps the guy handing out samples was psychic?? You never know! :hippie:

aww thanks again every body, you're all very sweet!!! I just especially hate Christmas time while being alone as many of you can understand. If I have to deal with my extended family and their pity again I will die!!!

You should go back, and ask the guy handing out the ck samples out on a date!
;)

I know everyone in a relationship says this, and you never believe it until it happens to you. When I met Mike I had resigned myself to just being single after a long period of fizzled connections. I decided I was young and single and I was going to have the time of my life. I was ready to go gallivanting around the world right before I met Mike, I had even given my two weeks notice at work. Obviously those plans changed :lmao:

I feel you. The holidays are definitely rough. Maybe there's a nice way you can tell your family you don't need their pity. Seriously, you're young, you're traveling, you seem to be having a good time.

Pity is really a way to bring people down and make them feel bad about themselves, but usually only because you're not happy with where you're at yourself. Happy people support the people around them because they want the best for them. Not that there's not a place for pity, but pitying the single? That's just silly.

I'm gonna go all Disney on you and say think happy thoughts, be a happy guy, and if you really believe it someday things just start going right

Once upon a time...
I was new in town and wasn't meeting many people. So I joined a dating service. :scared1: This was back in the olden days, when dating services were located in a brick and mortar building - not online. It cost a fortune, too. I had to pay to have photos taken, pay a membership fee, blah blah blah. Total scam.

I had VERY specific likes/dislikes and I wasn't open to meeting anyone who did not EXACTLY meet those specifications. If I had it to do over again I would meet EVERYONE who wanted to meet me, just to make new friends.

I think I went out with 4 people. They were all fine. Nothing spectacular, but fine.

But those membership fees were HIGH, and the contract was iron clad. There was NO WAY to get out of it. I decided to get a second job working the 8 PM - Midnight shift at the grocery store for extra money. The cashier supervisor was kind of a jerk when I asked about submitting an application, but whatever. The store manager hired me and he was really nice about working with the schedule from my full-time job.

Well, that jerk of a cashier supervisor and I started dating. Then I married him. The 19th anniversary of our first date was this month. ;)

In a round-about way that stupid dating service did help me meet my spouse. :rotfl2: You never know.

I love this story.

Here's mine. I was singing in a local women's chorus. Not exclusively lesbian but 95%. A very pretty new girl started. We all wondered if she was gay or straight. I was totally enamored with her. Turned out when she first met me she told the woman she was dating not to let her near me as I drove her bats** and she might have to hurt me. I guess I was a tad intense back in the day. We will celebrate the 15th anniversy of our first date on Christmas Eve.

 to you Glen.
As for extended family just turn it back on them and enjoy your next vacay to Disney!

Super cool! What a great story!

OMG you are all GREAT!!! I had a seriously awful day at work today and this is exactly what I needed. Thanks so much!!! My extended family don't understand my love of Disney and can't believe how often I go etc. but you know what? That's honestly what gets me through the day most days. I( wish I could go to WDW and never go back home sometimes, just disappear ;)

It's nice to have people understand :)
