My parents were super kind & offered to pay for our airline tickets down to Florida. My dad sent me the reservation info after he booked the flights (Airtran flight, booked through Expedia) & when I looked at it, I realized he hadn't gotten a ticket for my 2yo DD. He was confused & thought that since Disney was free under 3, airlines were free under 3 as well.

I called immediately and made a separate reservation for DD directly with Airtran.

I have the confirmation & have reserved ALL of us seats together so I'm not worried about it... I'm just concerned that I might run into something weird when trying to check her in or board. She's a 2yo with a single reservation... do you think I'll need to bring her birth certificate or anything else?

Just trying to anticipate any possible headaches and be prepared. TIA! :goodvibes

I would just watch the reservations and be sure that if there are any flight changes that you are still together.

When you called to make her reservation, did you ask if they could link hers to yours? If not, do so. It's what I've done when we end up making DS's reservation separate from ours, and it works. Different airlines, though.

apart from that, I doubt you'll have problems. I'd probably pay for your seat assignment, though! (airtran does that, right?)

I make separate reservations for each member of our group whenever there is a coupon or promo through Airtran and have never had so much as a blink of the eye from TSA. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I did ask about linking them & they said that they could do that but I'm not relying on that since there wasn't anything on her confirmation or anything noted/written anywhere about our two reservations being linked. I'm sure it's not going to be a problem, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, kwim?

We did reserve our seats & got us all together. I reserved me & DH's seats as the aisle and the window seat & then immediately after that went in under DD's reservation and snagged the middle seat in between the two of us. Did that for both flights.

I think they would have to have it noted in their system, otherwise they have a 2 year old flying alone, which would not be allowed, you have to be 5 to be an unaccompanied minor.

Just keep an eye your reservations. If there is any type of change, it is possible that the seat assignments will go "poof". If this happens, you would want to know as soon as possible so that you can call and get it fixed. This is true even if it wasn't an "odd" situation like you have.

Yes, do keep an eye on this. My last Airtran flight was changed and when they moved us to another flight, our original seats had already been taken by someone else. We luckily were able to choose other seats together, but you do have to watch closely. If our seats would have been open, we would have been given those, but they were not.

I have a similar issue... decided to book a seat for our 1 yr old after we had booked the rest of the family. I called and they took off the "lap baby" and linked the ressies so it doesn't look like he's flying alone. I'm hoping there are no issues with this... more worried about flight changes than I am looking suspicious to TSA.

Thank you for the heads up! I just double-checked our reservations and everything is as it should be. We can check-in online tomorrow so hopefully nothing changes between now & Sunday morning! :goodvibes

Since you are so close, I wouldn't worry too much about flight changes, unless there is something mechanical or weather related. If you were months out, then the possibility of changes would be there...

Travel safe.
