WEIRD email from eBay....HELP!!!

I just got the strangest email from eBay saying that they are going to close our account and suspend us because we did something wrong. HUH???? There is a link to click to change our account information and they mentioned something about having a credit card on file....which we already have. I am SOOOO confused! My dh isn't home, but I called him on his cell and he told me NOT to click the link because it could be a fraud email....although it is on official eBay "letterhead"...with the eBay logo, etc.

Has this ever happened to any of you? I know we didn't do anything wrong, and someone reported me because they were unhappy or something, I never knew about it! The strange part is that in the email, they don't say WHAT we did wrong????

I am so confused and really a little bit more than ticked right now...

I agree with your DH. EBAY has been hit with several of these spams and all they are is a fraud attempt. EBAY has indicated they would NOT ask for your credit card number this way. If you did something wrong, it would NOT be fixed by just giving a new card number.

Getting the ebay logo on an email would be easy. I could do it.

I would go on the ebay site and find an email address and forward them this ASAP!

Don't click the button!!! It's a scam to get your username and password.

I've been on ebay since 98, and never got one of these emails until a few weeks ago. I bought an item on ebay and instantly got a message in my inbox stating I had to "verify" my account.

I deleted it and a few days later I got 2 emails stating my ebay account was suspended. I had to log in on their link to get my account back.

It's a shame there are jerks out there who want to scam innocent people.

My sister fell for it. I told her not to give her info out, but she did.

I have gotten this e-mail several times and have forwarded it to spoof@ebay.com. IT IS NOT FROM E-BAY. This is a scam from thieves who are trying to steal your information.

I have had this happen to me too. I did not click on it but fowarded it to spoof@ebay.com and they replied quickly that it was not from them. I would forward it to ebay. I have also had an email stating that I asked a seller how much shipping to Illinois is and I don't live in Illinois! Just as a precaution I do change my password anytime one of these emails reach me.

I got one similar from paypal stating that as of March 17 my acct would be closed unless I updated my acct info. Seeing that I've been in and out of paypal nearly daily since I started selling on ebay, I just deleted the email. My acct is just fine and it's after the 17th! What will criminals think of next? It's pathetic.

I got one of these emails from Ebay a couple of weeks ago. IT IS NOT FROM EBAY!!!! I forwarded this email to Ebay and they replied that it was a fraudulent email. Follow their instructions to protect yourself immediately including changing your password if you gave them any info.

I got one saying it was paypal and that my account was on a temporary spending limit and to log on and check my account.I forwarded it asap to paypal and they said no this is a scam.I am so glad hubby did not check the email that day or he may have fell for it!
I cant believe people are sooo sad to do this.

Thanks one and all! I did not give any personal information and I did forward it to spoof.... They emailed me back that indeed it was a scam. These jerks really had me going for a minute! I was starting to think I did something wrong! I'm SOOO honest, it was eating away at me!

I get these at least once a month. They do look very real until they ask you for your debit card pin number. I always forward them to spoof at ebay and they do get right back to you telling you they are a scam. But I am sure there are many people that do fill them out. I know understand that you can't use a username on ebay that has a email address in it. This should cut down on some of these emails.

Apparently I bought or sold something to someone who fell for this scam. I was actually emailed from PayPal that some scammers had gotten my name and address information from the person who fell for the email's account.

They inundated me with these fraudulant emails. At least 5 a day for ebay and paypal.

I forward them all to the spoofebay and spoofpaypal email addresses and have been assured that they do not have my bank information. Which I check often.

I also have tried to block these emails through AOL's spam filter, but sometimes they come through because they can put false email addresses.

Did you ever get an email from your email address to yourself? Its amazing what these people can do.
