Weird Dining Plan Mug Question

Hi, we have a split stay coming up. First night is a one-night reservation at a Disney deluxe hotel and we have the Deluxe Dining Plan (not free dining - we are paying for it). We then have 4 nights offsite, then 4 nights back onsite but with no dining plan because we have several offsite dinners planned with friends so the Dining Plan makes no sense for those dates.

I know we will get a refillable mug on day 1 which I assume would be good for only that day (or into the next?). Since we will be around the Disney parks for a total of 9 days in there any way we can get that mug as a length-of-stay mug which I believe is 14 days? Maybe by paying the difference between the one day mug price and the length-of-stay mug price? Or do we have to buy a second mug later?

I have read that you can get the mugs reactivated. Don't know how much $. I'm sure someone will know if this is true.

I think when you get the mug with the dining plan, they automatically set it to be good for 14 days. So you should be able to use it for your whole trip. I had a 3 night trip in December with Dining plan and it was good for a full 2 weeks even though I left.

The DDP mugs are good for 14 days and can be used at any resort drink station
