So we leave to go to FL on Saturday and we'll be seeing SIL who lives in Tampa and exchanging xmas presents with her. I want to make her some fudge to bring with me, it is her fav. We are only doing carryons this trip, will fudge get confiscated by security? It is a solid correct, not a liquid or gel.
Thanks,
nicole

If it's fudge I sure hope it's not liquid!

Very funny, Vijoge! :teeth:

No, fudge in it's "ready" state is a solid - solid enough that it cannot be considered a liquid or gel. Now, if Vijoge is right and it's liquid when you get to the airport, well, you probably wouldn't want to give it to anyone anyway :)

Hahahaa... finally!!! Another weirdo like me...

Short story....
I went to California to visit some friends and wanted to sneak back the-worlds-best-freaking-cake for hubby. (Its from the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo) He loooooves that cake. So I got the smallest cake I could but still in a 12x12 box and didn't shut all the way to protect the topping. I put it in a collapsable ice chest box (the ones for beer... I mean soda). I carried it on to my Southwest flight.

Note: Said cake counted as a carry on item and had to fit the carry on regs. I told everyone handling the cake that it was a cake for hubby and to be very careful please. Security got a kick out of it. They all teased that they HAD to taste it to make sure it was safe. But they put it on the belt and let it go. Then I had to put it under the seat in front of me for take off and landing. I let the person in front of me know so they would know there was a cake under them. They were very careful too. Very nice. Once in flight I held it on my lap or on the table-thingy.

All in all it was very easy to transport. I just made sure everyone (and then some) knew what I had.

Be prepared . . .

80 something FIL on a bus trip, crossing border from Canada to US. Homeland security requires all passengers to get off bus, collect luggage and be screened. As FIL's bag goes through the xray, people in uniform start to scramble and FIL gets interogated about what's in his bag. Uniforms are getting twitchier . . . finally FIL says he bought some fudge in Alaska so that's why it isn't on the customs form. Uniforms relax a little, but make him open the bag. Turned out fudge looks like C-4/Semtex on xray.

Only if their hungry. We have brought subway and Earl of sandwich through security and it never alerted anyone.
