I just won two tickets to see Weird Al in August at the PNC Arts center in Holmdel, NJ.

None of us have ever seen him or been to the PNC Arts Center.

Apparently its an outside show (I have two lawn seats). Me and DD aren't going-- DH and DS are going since there are only two tickets.

Does he put one a good show? Will they enjoy it?

Any tips for PNC Arts Center? (Its about an hour or so away from us)

Thanks.

Haven't been there in awhile.....BUT i do remeber bring some OFF bug spray with you. Lotsa of Mosqitoes.

Lets just say I'm not a big Weird Al fan by any means...But I know my 13 year old nephew thinks he is hysterical!:thumbsup2

The tickets are more for my 12 yr old son (soon to be 13) and my DH.

I'll remember to tell them bug spray.

you know if there was a top 10 list of signs that your a nerd, one of them for sure would be you go to weird al yankovick concerts :lmao:

I always bring some things to tailgate (in this case, tail gating would be a picnic ;) ). I enjoy seeing shows there, especially since it's so easy to get to (right off the parkway) and I live about 10 minutes from there!

I'm glad its easy to get to. We're off of 295 (down South NJ) so that will work out.

I agree w/ Narnian_Princess....you're very LUCKY!

His shows are always fun....I've been able to see the "Bad Hair Day" tour and the "Poodle Hat" tour. He always seems to do some of "classic" songs along with the new ones which is great. He also uses the costumes along with the songs which is great fun :)

I agree, his shows are fun and pretty funny, too! Definitely bring some bug spray and something to sit on. IIR the lawn area at Holmdel isn't all that big, so they should be able to find a place with a decent view. Bring binoculars if you ahve them.

My concern--you say you won the tickets--are they mailing them? If you have to pick them up at will-call, then you will have to pick them up at will-call with your photo ID.

For years my kids have followed the latest Weird Al parody and loved it. So, at the beginning of June my BIL decided to buy 22 tickets for his wife's "50th B-Day for us (all adults) to go see Weird Al. To say we were groaning and belly aching because we had to waste a night seeing him is an understatement! Well... we LOVED him, each and every last one of us. That man is super talented and not a single boring slow moment during that concert. Pure entertainment.

My husband is still singing his songs.:lmao: Weird Al did these spoofed interviews with famous people through-out the show that are hysterical. He is also a master of disguises! Very very good show!

I hope they thoroughly enjoy him.:thumbsup2

I did lawn seats once and never again...

Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to get there... traffic backs up really bad.

We are picking them up before the show. DH doesn't trust will call--they will have them ready there, but we can pick them up beforehand.

It is a hike from our house --73 miles! (Told you we are in South Jersey--we are fairly close to Tweeter!)

We just saw him last night in Cedar Rapids!!!

He does a lot of stuff from his "Straight Outta Lynwood" CD - White and Nerdy, Weasel Stomping Day, I'll Sue Ya, Canadian Idiot - so if you are not familiar with these songs (we weren't), you may want to get the CD first.

He also does some of the older stuff, including my favorite, "Eat It", The Saga Begins (to "American Pie"), Yoda (to "Lola"), and You're Pitiful (to "You're Beautiful"). The videos and mock interviews are hilarious, and the show ends with "Fat" (to Michael Jackson's "Bad"). The encore is "Albuquerque".

And yes, we ARE nerds - and proud of it!!! ;)

Oh, and I think your 12 year old will love it!! Our son is 12 too, and Weird Al's humor is pretty much in that pre-adolescent male range . . . ;)

I've only had lawn seats once and it was for a Motley Crue concert, not exactly the same. If you are going to bring something to sit on make sure it is either a blanket or a low chair (nothing over 9" high). Here is a quote from the website on what you are allowed:

What Can I Bring:

You may bring:

One (1) factory sealed plastic plastic bottle of water -

Umbrellas

Food - provided it is in a clear plastic bag

Lawn Chairs - provided the seating surface is no higher than 9 inches from the ground. The first 300 lawn guests will receive a free lawn chair voucher courtesy of PSE&G and the PNC Bank Arts Center.

Backpacks or small bags (subject to search)

For the safety and comfort of all of our guests as well as the artist performing, the following items are prohibited:
