Weird ADR issue ~ Unable to cancel.

I have a number of ADRs booked for November, and when I tried to cancel some reservations I get messages either saying "It's too close to the reservation time to cancel,"or "We are unable to cancel your reservation at this time." This has been going on for a few weeks now and I keep hoping it will just cancel, but no luck so far.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you fix it? I've tried closing down the app/website and restarting but that didn't help.
 
Try updating something on it and then cancelling it. Like, update the date if possible or the number of ppl on it.

Have you tried both on the app and on the website? Cleared your cache?

I'll try clearing my cache. It's been doing this on the app and website.
 
I’m wondering if it’s just a system issue? I keep looking multiple times a day for a fall discount (Disney visa or otherwise). Starting last night, the pages changed - visa is mostly now showing 2022 offers and the regular offer page is missing the military offers. I was thinking they must be doing things behind the scenes, updates or just issues.

It did that to me last year and eventually I was able to reduce the #of ppl from 3 to 2 and cancel it. It took a few tries tho. It was a really frustrating glitch so I hope you can cancel it quickly.
 
There have definitely been some glitches on the app the past day or so. I had some issues looking at ADRs last night and it gave me errors here and there. So I would just keep trying as it may clear up soon. (Hopefully!)

That's so weird! Have you tried a chat on the app or website?
 
Just an update in case this happens to anyone else...I still haven't been able to cancel. I chatted with a CM yesterday and she had no idea what could be done, and said she can't cancel it on her end. She said the IT dept will look at it, and that I should try again over the next few days to cancel.

The reservations are for next week, so I really hope this issue gets fixed so I don't get charged for missing reservations I've been unable to cancel.

(Our trip is postponed, so I can't talk to anyone inside the park to deal with it, even if they would have been able to do anything about it.)

For the reservation cancellation, was the chat via the app and you have that saved/screenshot in case a no show charge comes thru? If not, I think I would reach out via the app later today/tomorrow recapping your verbal chat and asking if they can see if IT has been contacted? Just to have some documentation for worst case scenario of being charged.

Thanks! Luckily the November trip was iffy to begin with, so it's not as disappointing as some of my other canceled trips. At least I can keep planning and save up more money for April. :)

I used the chat window on my phone to talk to the CM. I forgot to get screen shots, but I'll do that for sure if I chat them that way again. That's a great idea to have documentation.

I might try calling, but I'm not sure if they can do anything.
 
This is so bizarre! You've gotten some great advice and having documentation is very smart. I wish I had some helpful advice but IT is not my strength and I can't think what else you could do.

Can Disney temporarily delete your account or something? That sounds scary, though. Surely there is a way they could remove dining reservations on their end! But also, you want to make sure this isn't a glitch that will happen to you again. It seems to be specific to your account for some reason.

I know, it's so weird. I've actually had that happen in the past, but I'd be able to cancel after a week or 2. I emailed the tech people last night. I was really surprised the CM couldn't fix it on her end. My last hope is that I can cancel it on the day-of. The first reservation is Nov 2.

I didn't even know there was an IT line! I emailed last night but I'll try calling, too.
 
This happened to me once in the last year. I called multiple times and every time a CM told me they fixed it but the reservation wouldn't go away. I never contacted IT though. The only way I was able to get it removed was to go to the restaurant the day of the reservation and explain the situation to them (this was still when you had to cancel your reservations the night before to avoid a penalty) and they very easily canceled the reservation and I wasn't penalized. Unfortunately, that's not an option for you, so I hope IT is helpful.

I don't know about Disney, but some chat systems have a save feature so you can quickly save the entire conversation. You might look for that when you redo the chat. And maybe also take screenshots for backup. :-)

The one through the app? If the app your conversation should still be there if you reopen it. Old conversations tend to stick around there.
