I went to WW lost 60lbs, had a baby gained it all back and it's been a year and it's NOT coming off. I know "the program" and tried it on my own but it didn't work. If I actually go back, can I be successful again? I want to hear from someone whose had a similar experience. If I could just win the lotto, have a cook and trainer I'd be all set, I swear.

You might want to check out the WISH board - there are lots of Weight Watchers over there doing it by themselves, online, and at the meetings. They may be able to offer you some suggestions and help! Good luck - I'm sure you can be successful at WW again!

It seems like the older you get the harder- I mean HARDER- it gets! Are you exercising? I think that you really have to do that. It seems like when you restrict your calories especially when you get older, your body adjusts and you can't lose weight unless you exercise. Even then it is tough!

For me personally (and everyone is certainly different), going to the meetings really helps. It's not that they talk about anything that I probably didn't already know, but the support and reminding I need I really get at the meetings. I really do better when I attend the meetings. WW has also done some studies that people who stay for the meetings are 60% more likely to lose the weight. The meetings help me stay motivated. I will say, however, that having a good leader and group is really key. If you don't care for the meeting group you try first, try a different one. To be honest, I don't care for the leader who teaches the meeting right before mine, but I love my leader. It really makes a difference.

I am just starting my WW 3rd try (but the first try was eons ago). I lost weight, then gained it all back (to be honest, due to laziness) plus some extra. I am committed again because I decided that I truly do want to lose weight (for a while there I thought I might could be content, but I realized that losing weight is really what I need to do).

I was successful my second time on WW, even more so than my first. I achieved lifetime membership my second time around. But..... I have gained 9 lbs over the past year. The problem? I've not been attending meetings since we moved from VA to NC. Also, I was walking regularly there. Here I go to the gym, but it tends to be sporadic.

My theories are as follows:

1. WW works. If you count your points, drink your water, eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies each day, it is an amazingly effective program.

2. Meetings keep you honest. They are motivating. It is hard to stay on track if you don't answer to someone.

3. Regular exercise combined with diet help you get results much faster.

Now, knowing these things and putting them into practice are two entirely different ideas. I have been trying for months to take off the 9 pound I put back on, but have been unsuccessful. Yet, I still haven't wandered back into a meeting, I still don't make sure I drink all my water every day, and I tend to forget to count points on weekends. Hmmmm. Wonder what I could be doing wrong.

come over to the WISH board that's where all the fun people hang out
Just kidding - but seriously lots of support for healthy life styles on the wish board
lots of people on WW

Come to WISH, Lewski. Lots of WWers there and lots of support from some very helpful, thoughtful and motivating people :)

Ummm, excuse me, ummm hello:wave:

Come to WISH my little TAGLIKIN, lots of support, friendship, guidance and :grouphug:

Seriously, Lewski709, don't let the fact that my WISH clippie hasn't changed in NINE blasted weeks deter you.....I'm not doing Weight Watchers.....apparently, I'm not doing anything

I have to say that because of the WISH boards on the DIS and WW I have lost almost 60 pounds. I too had tried WW before and lost some weight and then gained it back, but that was all my doing because I didn't stick with it. WW works as long as you follow the program. I have been on WW for over a year now and I have modified the program to fit my lifestyle, this for me is a lifestyle change and not a diet.

WISH is a great place for support and motivation which is an important part of being successful. Stop on by and see for yourself.

Come on over to WISH, it's a great place. :D I have tried WW 3 times, the first time I wasn't ready, the second time I had luck but then had my baby, I tried again this past July and have been doing great, 31 pounds down since July 16th. I love WW because I can eat the things I like but in moderation. I've also added exercise to my weight loss plan and it's been great.
