Hi,
I've been on the WW plan for about 4 weeks now. I'm going to WDW 12/1-12/8 and I know I'll be eating at some of my favorite restaurants while at WDW (Boma, Wolfgangs) and am not going to be too strict at those meals. However, has anyone tried to somewhat stick to their WW diet while at the parks? Is it doable? Should I just scrap that week? I really don't want to totally blow it and erase the hard work I've begun. Any tips would be great. - thanks!!

Hi.....I'm on WW and I went to WDW this past July and I came back and lost 5lbs I almost passed out at the meeting, I was for sure I gained.

In any case I decided when I was on vacation to do what ever I wanted (regarding food) I really wanted to enjoy myself, but I still in the back of my mind made sure I didn't go crazy.

this is what I did.

#1 I made sure I drank more water then I usually drank.

#2 instead of have a very HEAVY dinner at night time I would have a lunch (like a dinner) dessert the whole nine yards. Then when dinner time came I would eat much heatlhier...like a salad, OR ALOT of protein (at a buffet) not much carbs at all at night time many of Disney resturants have the same dinner/lunch menu so it's not like you missing anything.

#3 you know when your family or who ever your with would want an ice cream or snack, I would make a smart choice I made instead of ice cream I would have a frozen yogart or apple sticks, sometimes I would eat something from the bakery it depended on everyons mood.

Good luck ......ENJOY..........AND DON'T FORGET ALL THE HARD WORK YOU PUT INTO YOUR DIET. HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL :thumbsup2

BY THE WAY.........I'm leaving for WDW in 1 day:banana: and I'm still going with the same plan of attack I'll let you know how I did. Keep me posted.

When we went last year in Jan. I decided not to count any points while I was there. I ate anything that I wanted, and when I got home, I weighed exactly the same as before I left. It was the first time that I didn't gain weight on vacation. All that walking really helps out. Plus, since I had given myself "permission" to eat, I found that I only really wanted to eat at meals and wasn't craving desserts. Usually, when the kids wanted ice cream or other snack, I was fine not having any. I did get a big chocolate dipped mickey rice krispy treat at DTD and enjoyed every bite. :goodvibes

I think if you wanted to, you could do points at WDW, but if you do, I would also keep track of the walking with a pedometer so you could add the appropriate number of activity points.

Thanks guys. I feel a little better about going and eating now. Hopefully, I'll do as well as you did!! All I can think about now are all the delicious choices awaiting me lol.

Prior to my trip I had dropped a whopping 50 pounds. (Don't ask how long that took) I still have some more to go (25) but it is nice not to lug that weight around anymore!

But I felt that the plan had taught me how to make wise choices is my meals. That being said, I did not deprive myself of anything. I just did not over do it! I also made sure I did my water and my fruits and veggies!

I brought my heart rate moniter and made sure that I walked or ran every day and burned at least 300-400 calories in addition to all the walking we were doing anyway touring the parks. I am an early riser, so I would just get up, do my run and head to get my coffee. When I got back to the room, dd and dh were up! Yes, some days this seemed like a chore, but once I was walking around, I really enjoyed the surroundings(Poly).

This helped me to maintain over the vacation which is exactly my plan. Good luck and enjoy yourself.

My clothes were baggier after a week of the dining plan. It's amazing, but all the walking really works.

I've recently lost 40 pounds with WW and have been to WDW 4 times during that period.

Here is my most important rule when at WDW: Just b/c I am on vacation does not mean that I "have" to eat it (whatever it is)!

In other words, I only eat if I am genuinely hungry and when I do eat, I eat the yummy things including dessert. However, if my kids stop to have Mickey ears and I am not hungry then I skip that treat.

I also work hard at not gorging myself just b/c it is vacation. I blow this somtimes especially at a breakfast buffet (Boma, yum).

The walking really helps and like the above poster said, I try to fit in even more exercise. We were at AKV 2 weeks ago and they have an outdoor staircase. The kids and I made a deal that we would not use the elevator the whole trip, we only used these stairs to go up and to go down. Every little bit helps!

thank you for asking this question. I have also joined WW for the third time per doctors orders. We are going to WDW next August and I have already started stressing on how to stay on program. :scared1: I am glad to see so many others who were able to stay on program.
since you are going way before me let us know when you get back how you did.:cool1:

I've been going to WW for nine weeks and am down 18.4 pounds. We came back from Disney just two weeks ago.

We had breakfast in our room (cereal, fruit, or bagel & cream cheese, or toast and jam), and lunch and dinner at either counter service or sit-down restaurant. We did mostly counter service. I usually substituted fries with grapes or apple slices (didn't care for those). I was surprised at the lack of vegetables with dinners. It was something I'd never noticed before. I was also surprised that I discovered I didn't really like a lot of things I always thought I liked! French fries, for instance. I can actually live without them! For the most part, I didn't deny myself anything. In many cases, I'd share a dessert with DH.

My knee still bothers me, so I had to use an ECV for three of the seven days. But, I walked the rest of it for the first time in the last four visits! I was so happy to be actually walking around the Magic Kingdom! It was really great. Next trip, I won't be using an ECV at all.

When I went to my meeting I was sure I had gained a couple of pounds, but was up only .4 lb. Not even half a pound! This week I was down another 2 pounds. I'm hoping to hit 20 this week.

My best advice is to eat what you really like but watch your portions. Drink lots of water, too. And, don't worry about it. If you happen to gain a little, you'll be able to take it off again.

Most importantly--have fun!

Cheryl- That is so great that you were able to walk for the majority of your trip this time! I love non-scale victories like that.

I've been on WW for a while now and have lost 67 lbs (25 more to go). One thing to be aware of, after you have been dieting (or more accurately, living a new way of life) you are more likely to add pounds quicker if you are not watching the things you eat. The good part of this is that the lbs will also drop quicker once you are being very careful again. This is not saying you should just blow it and worry about fixing it later, but if you eat a bit more than normal, your weight gain MAY be pretty large for a short amount of time. Some people are very lucky and the extra exercise helps them to not gain....unfortunately I haven't had that experience. Even when I don't go wild and I still am fairly careful I can gain 3-4 lbs in 3 days. But I usually will loose it in a week or 10 days after returning to my normal WW eating habits. I LOVE WW and how much better I feel. It is well worth the effort it takes.

hi everyone! I just got back last night and weighted myself this morning and I lost 7lbs on vacation

the walking really does help.

WW is really easy to follow when your at WDW. Just for the record I didn't really enjoyed myself regarding my dining choices.

Congrats to everyone for losing all that weight!!

I have been kinda following WW for the past year now. I've lost about 35 lbs but I also work out everyday which helps for those dates that I eat "a little" more than I should be!

When we go to WDW every few months we usually go for about 4-5 days. I try to get a workout in every morning I can. In addition to the tons of walking I will do a 45 min. walk in the morning and/or try to workout in the fitness center at our resort. I find this helps burn some of those extra calories I may take in during our trip.

I also agree with another poster about the breakfast thing. While in the past (pre WW) days we did too many buffets and definitely too many buffet breakfasts. I now limit the breakfasts to no more than 2 a trip and all of the other mornings we eat breakfast in the room. I have either yogurt, granola and fruit or an alternative bagel. If we are in a villa we will even cook up an egg breakfast one morning but I can really limit my intake when we make our own breakfast.

If I order a sandwich at lunch I try to omit at least 1/2 the bread and I will treat myself to one "good" goodie a day. At dinner I just try to eat slowly so I don't overeat. I bring nuts or 100 calorie pack snacks along to keep those afternoon munchie times under control.

I also still try to keep my food diary as much as I can as I find this to be one of my most important elements toward my success.

The past 2 trips I returned thinking I gained but pretty much stuck to the same weight I was before we left for the trip(s)...which works for me.:thumbsup2

If you're only a few weeks or in your first few months of WW when you go on your trip, I wouldn't bag it all together for your trip as it will be that much harder when you return to get back on track.
