Weight Watchers and Disney

cosmic ray's starlight cafe in tomorrowland has delicious rotisserie chicken. When we were there it was served with green beans (I passed on the potatoes). I low carb, I'm not on WW, but I think points-wise that would be a good meal for WW too. They also have a great burger bar, sauteed mushrooms, onions and many other toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, pickles etc. if you want a burger.

Everyone's supportive words and honesty are what I need to keep on track, and I am a Lifetime WW. I put on about 6 pounds during our recent trip. I felt I worked so hard to get to the weight I had achieved to that point, and then I let it go during vacation because, frankly, I wanted to have something that I wasn't "in charge of"--typically I am the planner for the entire vacation at WDW and it gets tiring sometimes!! I had to plan all the ADRs, figure out what parks to visit on what days, order special cakes for special events, pack for 2 kids, get work done before we left, order the cab, and it goes on and on.

So, I took a break from WW for 7 days. I knew I would gain some weight back and I did. I knew when I came home, it would be hard to get back on track. I knew that I'd probably have a few bad weeks to get into the points monitoring again. I won't lie, I have had a tough go of it. I've been invited to a few big dinners and parties, and I have not been as diligent as I should be.

So the good news is this. No looking back. Only ahead. You can still control your future by getting that pencil sharpened tomorrow and starting back on your WW plan. I stuck with weighing in even if I did not want to see the result. It keeps me honest with myself. I still feel better that if I had not gone on WW 6 weeks before Disney, I would have been up even more and then where would I be? Stick with it everyone but don't sacrifice your entire vacation mode for a few points. Enjoy yourself, try to stay moderate, but have a Mickey Bar if you really want one.

:scared1: You're scaring me! ARG!!!
I'm still doing good ... now lost 26 pounds ... one buffet holiday luncheon and Christmas to go yet. Then it will be just looking forward to and worrying about food at the WORLD! But as I read the strategies other WW peeps have posted ... I THINK I will be ok. Our TS meals are at lunch (and not on DDP so probably no dessert) but those CS meals look to be a killer. I am planning 1 burger during the trip - don't eat those much at all but it will be at the beginning of the week. Is Pecos Bill's WORTH the points???? No buffets during our stay. Those are WAY too tempting to me. I know I am getting better at this but still -- better to avoid temptation!

To those still on the plan - Keep it up - Good Work! To those who have wandered to the DARK SIDE again ... -- you can come on back - YOU CAN DO IT!!! :thumbsup2

Regarding the CS meals -- I was at MK with a buddy this past weekend and ate at Cosmic Ray's two times in one day. My friend is not on WW, but we found that we both felt like splitting our entrees. We split a turkey bacon wrap for a late "breakfast" and later split a burger for a late lunch (each got our own fries though! ). I was plenty satisfied with that. So it wasn't super-healthy food, but I kept the portions small.

I was only at WDW from Fri-Sun, but we did party quite a bit, ate dinners out, had a Mickey bar in the park and a big breakfast at the CSR Pepper Market on Sunday. Followed by mimosas at the pool. I was very happy to get home and weigh in and had not gained weight! We were pretty active despite all the partying. :cool1:

Maybe it helped that there is a lot of walking at CSR!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I think sometimes people think it's easy once you hit lifetime, but I in fact find it harder. Reading these posts definately help. I know that I will be back to my "fighting weight' as I like to call it. One thing that did help me get myself back on track-2 pictures taped to my mirror. One at my pre-WW weight & one standing in my bikini at Blizzard Beach at my dream come true weight. That's where I want to be so I'll do what I have to to get there. Sometimes support from others in the same boat is what is really needed. Still, May is a short time away & I'm already thinking about all the yummy things I'm going to have. WW hasn't brainwashed me completely!!! Continued good luck & strength to all those out there on or off the program. It's definately worth it. Love this thread!

Hi guys-weighed in today and was down 2 pounds, so I am just shy of where I left off pre-Disney 2 weeks ago. Stay the course! Whether you gain a few or don't gain any in Orlando, be proud of what you have accomplished to date.

I like to think of it this way: what happens at Disney stays at Disney! When I go to WDW I do things I typically don't at home, like dress my entire family in matching Mickey polos, dine in a castle, watch fireworks every night, play a crash test dummy, and get hurled into the darkness of space in a roller coaster. But once we're home, party's over. The challenge for me is returning back to normal...I'm sending pixie dust to everyone to keep them motivated (till the next WDW trip!!)

That does it!! I love that way of thinking. Where else can you do all the fabulous things we do but Disney!!!:wizard: There really is plenty of time for real life when I get home!! Thanks for that!!

I was up a couple of pounds, but not too bad considering we were on the DDP and those desserts add up. Next time we go we won't do the plan, so with fewer desserts the walking should almost balance things out. Plus there are a lot more healthy snack options available than the last time we went (2003). Hardest thing was keeping up the water intake -- tough choice to either lug a heavy bag or use up your little bottle in the morning and have to refill it or spend $ to get a new one.

How did everyone do over the HOLIDAY? I gained 1 pound. This is actually good. If I "relax" over my WDW vaca like I did this past week, I'll be just fine. I drank my water like a good girl and kind of kept to the program. I did throw in a couple of snack that would normally be a NO NO.

Well, I hope everyone has a successful new year. I'll be working my buns off too. Ta ta for now!!!!!!

I weigh in on Jan 2nd - I was not at work during Christmas Week and I go to the meetings there. I am a little worried. I was not bad at the beginning of the week and not even on Christmas Day (when I cooked) but it was the leftover day that killed me. Yes ... I ate the rest of the bread stuffing after making my DHs plate up when he came in late from work! BLEH -- (put some gravy on it too and ate it RIGHT FROM THE SERVING BOWL!) ... that and some chocolate kisses that I went overboard with!

Now I had family visiting too which was stressful. I was not used to eating lunches of sandwiches and just couldn't resist that either.

I did walk alot ... and I know I will get back on track. I'll have to let you know how the weigh in goes. I was down 31 pounds so I know I can lose whatever couple I gained during this time but I sure hope it wasn't too much!!!

The holidays lasted for me wayyyyy to long & gained wayyyyy many pounds. That being said, pulled out all my books, scale & planner & a picture of myself at Blizzard Beach that I'm using as my inspiration to get back where I belong. I have 122 days til my next trip & about 17lbs. Sounds like it should be easy, but after reaching goal, it's much harder to lose that extra. Wish me luck!! My shorts & bathing suit are waiting for me!!!

I don't do WW, but I followed this thread pre-trip, hoping to find tips to minimize gain on our December trip. I've been losing pretty steadily since May, and still have 15-20 pounds to go, and our WDW trip was the first time I've really been "off plan."

The day before we left for vacation, I was at 146 even, a new low for me. For the first week or so, I ate essentially anything I wanted. At the halfway point, i was up to 149 even. So towards the end of the trip, I really focussed on getting my protein and water intake back up. A couple days from the end, I counted calories until dinnertime, so I'd have some idea of what my remaining "budget" was. (I used the calorie goal I usually have at home, plus whatever the pedometer said I'd burned off during the day, so if it said 500 calories, I got an extra 500 calories if I wanted them.)

Fifteen days of vacation, counting 4 travel days (two on each end). The morning after we got back, I was still at 146 even. But the day after that, I was at 144, then 142.5, then 142, then 141.5. So I think that after the travel-related water retention wore off, I actually lost some weight this trip.

In the past, I've gained on vacation, but I've never been mid-weight-loss when we've gone. This trip, I did have whatever I wanted - but I noticed that I wanted less than I did in the past. A bite of Mickey bar, but not a whole one. More green beans instead of mashed potatoes at Cosmic Ray's. Water instead of Gatorade (that's December vs. May or September, though). Half my Le Cellier meal was breakfast the next morning. (We almost always stay off-site, so we could cook on our own, too.)

Hardest thing was keeping up the water intake -- tough choice to either lug a heavy bag or use up your little bottle in the morning and have to refill it or spend $ to get a new one.

If you don't mind the swamp taste (which I don't, as long as it's icy), you can get a cup of ice water at any CS place that sells fountain drinks.

Ok -- keeping the thread alive!! Any new WW news out there from people who have been to WDW. I am still doing good on the program. Gained some weight over the holidays but lost it again and about 2 pounds more! YEA! ... but I AM agonizing about my upcoming trip!!! (3 weeks to go and counting down!) I think it is the counter service that is going to kill me! My TS meals are at lunchtime which makes it easier to walk off. I have some unknown meals when I go to Universal for two days (yes ... I must go to the dark side for DHs sake!), but those CS places just don't offer much! ARG! I AM going to have a burger -- I am looking forward to that -- ALL 8 POINTS ... but can I resist fries --- I WILL I WILL I WILL (ok, I will snitch a couple of DHs and then back to the carrots). :)

How are the rest of you doing????

The new year has come and passed...now our goal VACATION. Mine is only 2 months and a week away. The weight loss is slow, but it's coming off. I am actually looking forward to the challenge. Hope everyone is doing well.

Toodles for now.

I'm 77 days away from wearing my shorts that fit beautifully last year. The weight is coming off slowly, but it is coming off. I need 7 more pounds to reach my crazy goal. We'll see. At this point, I really don't care so much about the number as much as I care about how I look & feel in my clothes. I just can't see going out & buying all new shorts. Got to keep my eye on the prize!!

I am a WW leader and I just got back from free Dining at Disney. I lost a pound. Here's my advice. It isn't just about going "off-plan" for a week. You'll probably find your tummy has shrunk enough that even without trying to you'll lose weight on vacation. The key is to have a post-vacation plan in place. We get very used to eating the deliciousness down there & then when we see we don't gain we unconciously think we can continue to eat that way back home.

So have a pre-vacation plan (realize you won't be totally on-plan while hectically getting things together those last few days) have a during vacation plan (like wearing a pedometer & making at least one healthy choice a day & sharing whenever possible) and a post-vacation plan (like going to a meeting within two days of coming home and getting right back on the exercise bandwagon, tracking bandwagon.) Make sure to write down your plans and have a new Winning Outcome before you come home if your old Winning Outcome had to do with "lose xx lbs before Disney World."

As for healthy choices, I found lots at Disney. I especially tried to eat healthy at breakfast and generally just had a banana. By the end of the week, if I'm being honest, I was having a banana and a chocolate croissant for breakfast so I then had to choose fruit or something else healthy for lunch. The salads at the counter service places were pretty good. Finally, if you don't like something, spit it out. Don't eat something at WDW that isn't incredible. There are just too many delish things there to waste even one mouthful on something you aren't crazy about.

Hope that helps and if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to help. WDW & WW are two of my favorite subjects!

Just wanna say...I'm a WW leader, too!:thumbsup2 Did the DP last year and just made healthier choices and I'm going agin in June. It's completely do-able.

If you walk (and don't ride a motorized cart) during your trip, it won't be an issue. The amount of walking during a week at WDW will outway any amount of food you can possibly eat.

OK - I'm reviving an old thread and just wondered how those who were going in the April time frame made out? I had to cancel my trip in Feb soooo did not face temptation. I have lost enough to reach my goal weight (plus six week maintenance) and am now a lifetime WW member (lost 45 pounds!) Anyway ... still wanted to hear what those who are watching the calories ate at WDW and were you able to resist the less healthy choices. I still have next year to look forward to.

Also does anyone know if an Applebees in close by WDW -- I tried to find out but no luck!

Don't let me be the thread killer -- anyone that is eating healthy at WDW -- (not just WW peeps) CHIME IN! Thanks! :thumbsup2

We went in March for 10 days. I watched what I ate and had a few treats, I gained 3 pounds. But it felt that 10! I immediately took the extra weight off. You can do it!

Have no idea how close an Applebee's is to WDW, sorry. We never left property the whole time.

Last year I lost 30 pounds, spent 4 days at Disney :wizard: and didn't gain an ounce. I'm on round 2 of burning my butt off. I'm hoping to drop another 30 by my next trip. I just want to stay good :cheer2:

wow! great job on not gaining anything! i hope that happens for me...did you do anything special?
