Weight loss for Wishers and becoming Leaner Meaners!

Beth, I always had my comb in my back pocket, too! I had forgotten about that. That comb was more important than an American Express card - definitely couldn't leave home without it. Congrats on good workouts and good eating. I'm sure the scale will start moving down soon! :)

Hey Everyone!

Quick check in here. Still on the no booze wagon. Barely hanging on though! :lmao: I do have an off the wagon day for valentines day, so I am looking forward to that. I am running a 10K on valentines as well! I can say however that this is not something I will be doing long term. I love my beer and wine too much. That might make me a lush, but I am okay with that.

Runs have been okay this week. I walked almost 8 miles over the weekend between going to the beach and the fair. I made the mistake of wearing flip flops to the fair, which caused my PF to flare up. I love my flip flops so much though. So my 6 miler on Monday was totally craptastic because of the PF. And my C25K today was also craptastic because I had shin splints. I need new shoes ASAP! (I love the word craptastic!!) Core and strength work has been good though

No weight loss last week, but no gain either!

Debra I am always looking for new beer suggestions, so feel free to share any that DOOD has!

Mike:wizard: :wizard: for a quick recovery

 to everyone!!

Good morning Meaners! Boy, we are having a very windy day here.....the wind actually woke me up a couple of times last night. But, for now it's warm at least! The cold is to come back later today.

Amy: Good for you on the alcohol wagon! If you review previous posts.....there actually are alot of people here claiming to be lushes! You are in good company. I will be indulging some this weekend too.....valentines and my birthday on Monday! DH and I will be going out on Friday to celebrate both!

Mike: I hope the knee is feeling better, or at least the good drugs are holding out! :wizard:

Jeanne: Are you lurking? Haven't heard from you lately?

Wendy: How's the 'going to the doctor diet' going? Onederland close?

AFM: I got to the gym for a good hour elliptical time! Did the hill workout at a good clip and got 6.25 miles in! Eating again was really good.....hoping for a budge in the scale later!

Beth

Hi everyone! I'm down another 0.9 lbs for the week. Too bad about the 0.1 :) I probably could have done better if I had skipped the Red Velvet cupcake at Starbucks and played less Animal Crossing. I'm off to the gym tonight for another training session!

Debra - Yeah, I don't know what it is... if there's something to trip, slip or bump into, I'm there. I'm going to add another 4 sessions for the month. If I could afford it, I would be training/working out with my trainer least 3 times a week.

Amy - The Valentine's 10K sounds fun! I wish we had something like that here. It'd be good for working off the treats! Yay for no weight gain!

Julie - My chin is okay. It's a little tender to the touch but no bruising. I thought that was kind of weird but at least I don't have to explain what happened to everyone.

Mike - :wizard: for a quick recovery!

Beth - WTG on the 6.25 miles!

Good afternoon Meaners!

Hoping everyone’s Thursday is going ok.

Not much training this week. 8 on Sunday and 3 on Tuesday. No stadium runs yesterday due to weather.

The DW and I will be leaving for Daytona in a few hours. Can’t wait to smell some racing fuel and hear the roar of stock cars. :thumbsup2

Tracey – WTG with the workouts!

Debra – Be one with the hills. ;) :)

Mike – Sorry to hear about the knee. Take care.

Julie – WTG with getting the runs in this week.

Beth – WTG with the training and eating!

Amy – I hope you have a great race on Saturday.

Vicky – Gotta watch those Starbuck’s cup cakes.

To those I missed - Keep up the great training, and eating!

:)

Hi Everyone

Amy - WTG on the no booze thing! Sorry to hear about the PF and shin splints. Maybe some alcohol on Valentine's Day will have a medicinal effect?

Vicky - I'm glad your chin is ok. I'm less than graceful, so I've had my share of falls too.

Vic - Have fun in Daytona!

Beth - Happy (early) Birthday! Will you be celebrating with a box of Lucky Charms instead of cake?

I got my run in this morning before the weather got too windy (it's crazy windy right now). I'm more motivated to get my Thursday morning runs in now that a new Survivor season is starting. Every Thursday during Survivor season, my DH, my BF, & I enjoy nachos and beer while watching the show. I can hardly wait for 8:00 (more for the nachos & beer than for the show)!

Have a fun, lean, mean weekend!

Tracey: I'm absolutely positive you looked good in your outfit. ;) Ah, yes, Jillian Michaels. I must have blocked it from my mind. Too tough for me.

Julie: Love the big hair, love it. Especially on other people. Too much work for me. As for my snacking, I do believe popcorn is a good snack. Too good. I'll eat FAR more popcorn than carrot sticks. I will keep your "popcorn is a veggie, right?" justification in mind for next time, though. It'll make me feel better. And if it makes both you and Maria feel better, I too needed to look up crepuscular. Yikes on the vocab! You're watching Survivor right now, enjoying beer and nachos, so I just want to say ENJOY! Everyone needs their must-see TV! :happytv:

Beth: I've blocked out the memory of said legwarmers, but I remember shuddering last fall (or was it the fall before that) when they came back in style. I just thought, "You poor girls. You'll live to regret that trend, just like I did.") Ah, the comb in the pocket of our too-tight jeans. Yesss. What were we trying to draw attention to? That scale of yours will move soon, I'm certain. You've been putting in too much sweat equity for it to be otherwise.

Amy: Helloooo lush-ious! Join the club and pass the bottle! :rotfl2: You're doing great on your no-alcohol goal and will definitely earn that treat on VD. Great job signing up for a 10K...helps keep the scales balanced between indulgence and moderation. (And literally helps the scale, too.) You probably won't drink beer for the romance of VD, but DOOD just had a tasty Dogfish India Ale. He really likes IPAs, but this was a half IPA/half brown ale. (You've probably already tried this beer, but it's the last one he drank.) As for your PF, ouch! Quit with the flip flops. Ouch! At least unti you get new running shoes and your runs stop being craptastic. (It is kind of a fun word to write.)

Vicky: There you go, mentioning the Red Velvet cupcake. I live within walking distance of 3 Starbucks and now I'm thinking of chocolate cake... :rotfl: It seems to me that most people I know who have PT really push it on those sessions, so adding 4 sessions with a PT is like adding 2-3 regular WOs. :thumbsup2

Vic: I am sooooo over the hills! At least, I made it over them today. Maybe I subconsciously took your mantra to "be one with the hills" with me on my run. Have a great time this weekend--as if there was any doubt! :woohoo:

As for me: Today I did my yoga, took my pills, and went back to the hills that defeated me on Tuesday. I can't say I conquered them, but we came to an understanding. I finished, although not in style, and they will be mine someday. Oh yes, they will be mine. ;)

Picking up on what Julie said in her post. Missing motivation for running. I'm enjoying the short runs and concentrating on other exercise. But I also suspect that I'm abusing the no-training running and not pushing myself hard enough sometimes. I'm working on that.

As for eating, a good day today. I'm not sure I'll have lost any weight this week, but I've done a better job with the types of food and the portions.

Jeanne: Are you lurking? Haven't heard from you lately?

Beth

Beth:I was out of town for 3 days and just catching up on my reading now. I can never understand why it takes 6 days to make up for 3 days of missed work! I confess I ate my fair share of junk this past weekend, but I did get a huge workout walking all over NYC. And did I mention my daughter lives on the 5th floor of a walk-up? My thighs are still screaming.

Jeanne: I hear ya on the stairs! They always kill me; I thought I would be better with steps from running, but alas they still make me puff! I am glad to hear of your little vacay in NYC! Bet you had a blast!

Debra: Good job with the hills, and yes one day they will be yours!:goodvibes I have to say that my jeans were probably always too tight, not due to the style, but due to my fat hips! :lmao: I remember whipping out that comb numerous times to do a quick 'make-over'!!!

AFM: I joined Facebook recently, and have caught up with alot of people from high school.......I used to think I have a great memory, but half the time I am asking myself "who are these people?" I don't think I want to remember high school, so maybe Facebook was a bad idea. Also found out that this year is 25 year reunion.......ugh, I am old!

I got 2 hours in at the gym yesterday! I have yet to weigh myself today, but I am hoping to see something move.....DOWN! Eating remains steady.....for now.

I don't care who you are, that's HAWT!
:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: Oh yeah, baby! The scary thing is, the whole pom-pom squad wore them to perform a routine to Let's Get Physical! What were we thinking? (We were thinking we looked great, that's what!:thumbsup2). How's the knee? Does the 69 in your name mean that you have a big b'day coming up this year, too?

Julie....Nacho, beer, and Survivor....sounds like a GREAT night. I'm a Grey's Anatomy fan myself. Count me in with the other's who had to look up crepuscular--that's a huge vocab word. I had BIG hair, too! The bigger, the better, and don't kid yourself it was a great look;) . That's how this 5'4" girl got a 6'4" boyfriend (or maybe it was the above mentioned outfit;) )
Beth...those lbs. will move, you're doing so well. Twenty five year reunion, huh? I'm thinking that's a great time to show off your athletic self and to have people tell you how great you look. Have a wonderful :bday: and Valentine's dinner----what a perfect evening.
Amy...A Valentine's run would be so much fun. I'm thinking of running in the local St. Pat's Day Run--you can run with or without a timing chip and it's sponsored by a beer company, so after race refreshments are a plus. And...my niece is an Irish dancer and dances in the parade afterwards, so, I can cover alot of territory in one day. I think I'll be using your "craptastic" verbage---it puts a positive spin on something icky! Have a great race!
Vicky....:worship: congrats on the lost poundage! I, unfortunately, have found 2 lbs. that I thought were related to Chinese food this weekend, but they seem to have found a happy home.:confused3
Vic...have fun in Daytona. I'm so jealous.
Deb....oh, we knew we looked good;) . I'm envious that you can walk/run/bike/ to so many places. I can make it to a few places here, but it involves getting on a pretty busy street. Whenever, we drive into Webster/Kirkwood, it makes me think it's pretty similar to where you live. Good for you for becoming one with the hills.
Jeanne....your weekend with your daughter sounds wonderful (well minus the 5 flights of stairs)!

Well, my kidlets have a 4 day weekend, so the house is CRAZY today! Have a great day, all.

You did look great! At least to a guy who grew up then...:rolleyes1

Anyway, today I got in my first post surgery walk...35 minutes, 1.1 miles...ready to get back to Iron man training at that rate...look out Macca, I've got you in my sights...

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If you don't know who Macca is, follow this link.

http://www.chrismccormack.com/index.shtml

My kids have a four day weekend too, and DW is working the 3-11:30 shift at the hospital today and tomorrow...so I'm on my own with em from 2:00 on each day.

I know, I know, the wives here generally do it every day...but I'm still hurting a little, and my kids hate me (since my instinctive response to any request is a resounding NO), so this will be a long weekend after a bunch of consecutive highly stressful 60-80 hour weeks (with no end in sight)

Have a lean mean day folks!

Mike

Jeanne: I'm looking forward to hearing your stories of NYC. The fun ones, not the 5-story walk-ups. Those will just send me screaming to a stairs workout.

Beth: You're reconnecting with HS friends on FB? So funny, as that's what DOOD uses it for. Me, I don't think my HS friends can find me, and that's fine by me. Never doing the HS reunion thing. They called my mom for the 10 year, and she told them to take me off the list because "She's not interested." And for year I thought my mom didn't understand me. ;) P.S. You're not old, you're like me...vintage. Anyone who can work out for two hours regularly doesn't get that label.

Tracy: What team did you get placed on--I mean to go back to the thread, but I'll wait to hear the good news from you. You quote Newton-John at us. Ugh. I prefer to forget such things. I was a Blondie woman myself. Yep, trying to put as much distance between me and spandex as memory will allow. (But I did have a serious crush on Debbie Harry. And Blondie is still on my iPod.) I am sooooo lucky to have a lot of places to run/walk/bike. And the weather to really do it almost year-round. So I can't really complain about the hills. How was VD with the kidlets? What do you do with a house full of boys of various ages?

Mike: It sounds like we have a milestone b-day in sight! :yay: Do tell, so we can celebrate! Speaking of celebrating, congratulations on 1) your first walk (I think that's impressive to get back to things so soon) and 2) surviving your weekend with your kids. I hope nothing was too painful, that nothing got broken, and that the VD sugar-rush kept you all happy. Okay, so I have to ask about Macca....on the home page, what is he carrying in his chest area????

As for me: Valentine's Day. Yeah. I'm not the romantic type. DOOD is. We compromise, which is cool, and go to see the Oscar-nominated shorts and then out to eat at our favorite Thai restaurant. (Plus gifts--new comic books for me, old VHS for him.) Unfortunately, we both enjoy Thai food a little too much.... so next week is extra-long workouts. And next weekend is my all-day AMC screening of the Oscar nominated pics. Last year went really well on the eating front, so I'm hoping this year will too.

On the WO front, I think I might have found a track to use on the weekends that's not too far from my place. It's not regulation size, but it'll be nice to do a little speedwork on a flat surface. :yay:

hey Meaners! Happy belated V-day!

I had a very nice V-day/birthday date with my dh! We went to our local place and had a very nice shared steak/crabcake dinner with a celebratory free glass of champagne!

I did my Pilates DVD and targeted abd routine from my Bender ball on Saturday, and 8 mile run today!

Debra: Your V-day sounds like my cup of tea. Nice of your DOOD to give in a little!

I had to take tomorrow off since my kids are off school, and my dad is taking us all to lunch for my birthday!

Beth

LOL...the milestone bday is in my rear view mirror...I'm 43, going on 44.

Macca's got two sponges stuffed down the front of his race jersey...not a particularly good look, but he WAS first across the finish line in Kona last year...

Just about to put the kids in bed, and then grab a big tumbler of Scotch and sit in front of the fire for a while.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say hello. I've been crazy busy with work and kids on top of which I have a horrible cold. I haven't run in a week which is making me a bit nervous about my marathon next weekend. I'll give it a couple more days before I decide whether to run or not. I'm so down about it right now, but need to put it in perspective that it's only a race, there will be others. I hope everyone is doing well. I hope to catch up soon.

Cindy

Hey Leaner Meaners!

Just wanted to do a quick run by. No activity since Friday. Got in 6 miles and for whatever reason was beat. Then I was beat all weekend so I took it easy. I think my body is telling me to rest since I really haven't since the Goofy Challenge. I'm sure I'll be back out there tonight.....

Happy Birthday Beth!!!

Vic and Beth - Um.... I missed the race as my kid had 2 games during the 500, but it sounds like people aren't too happy with our boy. I say it's about time he started driving a little like his daddy. :thumbsup2 Besides he owed Vickers one.

Hi guys!
A quick drive by for me as all the kids are home today.
Deb...I was placed on the Rebel Alliance team which will, hopefully, give me a little extra motivation to stay moving;) . We spend every Valentine's the same. I make either spaghetti or heart shaped pizza (the boys choose) and we have candles, sparkling grape juice (and wine for me), china, crystal, and we sit in the dining room. It sounds quirky when I write it, but everytime I ask the family what they want to do....they always insist it's tradition and we HAVE to do it. I figure that it won't be long until DS15 has a girlfriend and makes his own tradition:sad2: . So as long as they keep asking for it, I'll keep doing it. Your Valentine's sounds like it was romantic. I'm glad that you found a track close by, that will really help with speedwork.
Mike....I'm glad that Deb asked what was in his shirt because I was thinking the same thing. I guess if you move that fast, you can shove whatever you want down your shirt. I read part of his story and it was very motivational. And you made it through the weekend with your kids and a well deserved scotch--nice job!
Cindy...oh no, I hope you're feeling better. Keep it in perspective, you're right and it is only a race and there will be many more.:goodvibes (but I'm still hoping you recover quickly and are able to run).
Jeff....:lmao: , poor Mickey.
Maria....hey, girl, how are you?
Chris...I missed the race, too. I was shopping and then DS wanted to watch the Tyson Invitational.
Vic....how was Daytona? Any good pics?
Stacie and Amy.....where are you girls?
Beth...:bday:
I've taken 2 days off and it's time to re-motivate. I'll let you know how it goes.:confused3
