Cindy: Like you, I don't have the patience, time, or luck for LMT. We're a frugal household, though, especially these days. And so I invested too much energy in the whole thing--to no avail. I'm glad some of our WISHers scored rooms, as that was exciting! I'm glad to hear your no-sugar days are going well. I really believe that sugar increases our appetite for bad things--very addictive physically as well as mentally. Your doing great. I'm sorry to hear about your knee, though, and hope the icing is working.
Cindy and Julie: DOOD is a HUGE Joyce fan. If he hadn't become a Shakespeare scholar, he's have gone for Joyce studies. This sounds perfect. Thanks for the info!
Julie: Ick for your sidewalks. Does it help to hear that our clear sidewalks lasted all of a day before we got black ice? Our weather remains right at the cusp between snow and freezing rain. Ugh. Yay for getting in two runs--I bet you that feels good!
Beth: Thanks for the good thoughts on the car. We were able to drive the car, thus avoiding an accident report. We've got about $2000 worth of damage though. Darned icy hills. You and Nancy are taking a Pilates class together AND a Pump class? Sounds pretty intense, in a good way!
Hugs to you for the 2 pound gain--I know how frustrating that is. Oh, and I think you need to get out your whip, please. You need to get me back up on the wagon, as I've been falling off it shamelessly. (Everyone out there who thought XXX thoughts when I mentioned whip, shame on you!)
Aloha Jeff: You and Chris (well, Vic and Mike, too) are the only cheesecake in my life these days. So don't tempt me otherwise!

And how was the neighborhood of Guru Les? Appropriately guru-ish?
Chris: Read the above, cheesecake. That's because you run AND are pumped.
Vicky: My former stylist loved boxing--and she had nice biceps. (Too bad she couldn't style my hair--and I'm oh-so-high-maintenance

) Um, aren't we expecting some pics of you???
Tracey: Don't you just love it when you have your name on the bib? I never thought it would matter to hear my name said by a bunch of strange(r) spectators. But it DOES! Re: your surgery. It's pushed off for minor reasons, right? I remember you saying this surgery wasn't a "big deal," but I'm just checking. I worry, you know.
Jeanne: I'm like you--lots of XT at this point, with less adherence to a running plan. Btw, I can totally see you battling the sweepers--I have this vision of you taking a push broom out of someone's hands and whacking them in the behind with it!
Wendy: Well, you might do a drive-by here, but you definitely make the rounds at the WISH meets. (I'm looking forward to next time and meeting you up close instead of seeing you way far ahead of me on the course!) I'm holding you to your pledge. Is that school project for high school? It's pretty details, and sounds like a Senior Thesis project for undergrads. At least she'll be prepared for college, huh?
As for me: Right now, I average about 10-15 miles a week. I've pushed running to short maintenance while I work on my core/back strength and weight loss. I hope to be back at 20-25 in about 6 weeks, which is what I do outside of training for a 1/2 or greater. I try not to run more than 3x a week, as my knees aren't the greatest. I'm also trying not to think about races for a while but about running, if that makes any sense. I tend to be very tunnel vision about things when I train, and that contributes to my weight gain, my injuries, etc. I need a holistic health plan in place.
Okay, I want you all to do me a favor. I tend to bite off more than I can chew--not in terms of food, as I clean my entire plate and then some. But in terms of my goals. No, I'd like to ask if you all wouldn't mind helping me be a bit more accountable on two of my goals. Would one or more of you mind asking me every day if
1) I've taken my pills yet today (notoriously bad with them), and
2) Did I do my Pilates/Yoga DVD.
Thanks--I really need the help right now. I just can't get motivated, and am finding it hard to even check into WISH. Must be the winter blues.
