Weight loss for Wishers and becoming Leaner Meaners!

Morning Lean Meaners! I'm sitting here with a small pile of chocolate carmel popcorn and a chocolate marshmallow. It's from a gift basket that was given to our group. My manager always insists that I eat sweets (even though she knows about my diet) so now I usually just take a handfull of whatever and just leave it on my desk so it looks like I'm eating it :cutie: Sometimes I think the workplace is more complicated than high school ever was!

Maria - We're getting snow storms on Friday and Sunday too! I'm wishing for the weather that we had last year - we had almost no snow until January.

Julie - My TM has been squeaky too. We keep it in our basement and I'm thinking that it needs to "warm up" since it's pretty chilly down there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will make it to January.

Beth - Glad to hear you had a good trip! I always let my eating "go" on vacation too but glad to hear that you were able to get in your exercise. That's something I've never been able to do.

Cindy - I hear ya! It's been hard for me to get in my running as well - tight schedules and crummy weather...:sad2: I guess you do what you can. I'm glad to hear that you're eating clean, that's a tough one in December! Good for you :)

Ok, that's all for now... I'll check in later!

Hi Lean Meaners!

Vicky - I'm glad to hear that your PT helped you get back up & running. :goodvibes I hope I'm as lucky. Don't worry about falling off the healthy-eating wagon, just hop back on with me. I've fallen (or sometimes jumped) off of it way too often in the past few weeks.

Cindy - Sorry to hear that you were affected by the ice storm. We only got rain here. Unfortunately, about 5 inches of that rain was in our basement. :sad2:

Beth - It's hard to eat well on vacation. You got your workouts in and that's what matters! :thumbsup2

Jeanne - Hi. Good luck with your 20 miler.

Maria - Sorry to hear that your DH's gym wasn't your cup of tea. We don't belong to a gym or own a TM, so DH & I do all of our running outside. A 20 miler is scheduled for this weekend. Funny, huh? :lmao: I have no idea how we're going to work around the 10+ inches of snow we're supposed to get tomorrow.

Tracey - Sorry to hear about your cold. It's great that your DH could fix your TM. My DH a smart, funny, wonderful guy, but he's no Handy Manny! If we were in your situation, we'd have to call a repair person or buy a new TM. :rotfl2:

I've been trying to eat well this week. (I have no idea how that pepperoni pizza materialized on my table last night at dinner time. :rolleyes1 ) I'm a little nervous because I love to eat during the holidays. If anyone has any motivational words of wisdom to help me stay on track, I'd love to hear them. :goodvibes

I'm off to do my PT exercises and then watch the news at noon to see when our first big snowstorm of the weekend (we're getting snow Fri & Sun) will hit. How the heck am I going to run 20 miles in this? :scared1:

Hello to all of the other lean meaners. Have a wonderful week everyone!

Hi everyone!!

Finally getting a chance to catch up!! We went to WDW for Saturday night, my parents were visiting. We saw the osborne lights, which of course were awesome. Between the time we spent there saturday and Sunday, we visited all 4 parks and DTD!!

I had loss last week finally. I am now a pound or 2 below my lowest in early November. :cool1:

I am in a bit of a funk/burnout with my running. I did have a really good run on tuesday, almost 4miles with an 11:45 average pace. The fastest I have been in weeks. I ran without my Garmin. I felt like I had been looking at it too much. I didn't follow any specific intervals or anything. (Tracey, Thanks for your thoughts on my intervals a couple pages back. I read that too somewhere recently and I think it's definitely what is happening to me.

Beth-WTG for getting in the exercise on vacation! Hope PR was fun!

Jeff-Congrats on the PR!

Stacie-Great job getting the 8 miler in!!

Jeanne- I also feel like this :scared1: when thinking that 3 weeks from now I will be heading to Disney!!

Everyone keep up the good work!!

Amy

Mmmm... pepperoni pizza!! My PT always tells me "You'll never out train your eating." At least the way that I use to eat

We're getting the same snow storm I think... 20 miles, huh? And I was worried about my 9 miles. I guess a little bit of PD :wizard: for both of us and anyone else affected by the storms is in order.

Quick run by everyone.

I got in my 8 1/2 miles last night, post marathon. Worked out some kinks in the legs, and got a knot out of the calf that cramped the worst on Sunday. It was hot and humid, and I almost jumped in the ocean afterwards to get all the sweat off.

Princess #2 awoke to birthday presents & singing from her family. She's 6 years old, and it's so hard to believe! :lovestruc

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

Oh, I can't wait for the holidays to be over! I am trying to maintain the healthy eating thing, but it's the time for cookie baking.......and tasting! I have maintained my workouts......but that doesn't make up for the eating! UGH.......

I just got back from the gym. 55 min on the cross trainer for 6 miles. I had to pick up the kidlets from the bus since it pouring down rain right now. So, I had to pack it up before I got to 60 min. I had a small window of time for the gym after laundry, cleaning the house to ready it for a tree, and a few present pick ups! I got a lot done though.....and the gym to boot! I have to be happy with 55 minutes......better that than not going at all.

Amy: Good job for the faster pace! I know how hard that is......

Jeff: Happy Birthday to DD! 6 is a great age.......it's down hill from there though! (lol)

It's been pretty quiet around here. I hope that's because you all are out there working out!

Beth

Hi Everyone,

I hope you're all having a lean mean week. :goodvibes

Amy - Congrats on the weight loss. That's great! :thumbsup2

Vicky - Hi. Did you get your 9 miles in? I was able to get my run in before the storm started.

Jeff - Happy Birthday to your DD. Six is a great age. :cake:

Beth - I hear ya on the healthy eating vs. cookie baking and tasting. I'm in that boat right now myself. I have to make fudge and cookies for a party on Sunday and I HAVE to taste everything to make sure it tastes good. :rolleyes1

Hello to all of the other lean meaners too.

I have really good news about my knee. It's been a week since I went to the PT and she gave me lots of exercises to do. I've been doing them faithfully, but I was very nervous about my 20 miler today. I did have some knee pain during today's run, but it wasn't until mile 19! :cool1: (For the past few weeks, the pain was kicking in by mile 9 or 10.) I walked about 1/4 mile until my knee felt better and then I was able to resume running the last mile of this very long run. I really couldn't believe that my knee felt so good for so much of the run. I love my PT!

We're in the middle of a big snowstorm right now. Thank goodness I bought the kids their own shovels this year. I'm not sure how much shoveling I'll be able to do tomorrow. I have a feeling my legs are going to be pretty sore.

Have a great weekend, everyone. :goodvibes

I got to run a local 10K race this a.m. I was looking good until the end......without 2 giant hills, I could haved PR'ed! I was running under 10 min miles till 3 miles, got one hill down and still got to the 5 mile mark in 53:00!!! The last mile was straight uphill! I had to walk it.......just couldn't run without severe pain in my hip. Made it to the finish in 1:09:00. I am happy with that.....but, the next race I will chose NO hills!

I hope you all are doing well with the healthy eating. I am challenged today....spending the evening with the 'girls' and alot of cookies!!!! (((((and Cosmos!)))))

Wow! What a deal we got. The first annual Crocs sale was awesome.

The regular style were $5 for kids sizes, $10 for adult sizes. Specialty styles like the fur lined, and "Topsider" styles were $15. Every make was available except Disney Mickey Ears sold at the parks. T-shirts were $3.

At least 300 people were there during the hour we shopped around. Great Christmas presents if you knew the sizes to buy for family and friends.

The lowdown from the company rep was, new models are being released in 2009, so they are clearing out all their current inventory.

We got 6 pairs, two t-shirts for a total of $61. :banana::woohoo:

Well we had to go back today and check if the sale got any better. Let me tell you, it did.

The original style Crocs dropped from $10 to $5. The "dress" shoe style for my daughter went from $5 to $3. I couldn't pass up on those deals so we got more.

This time we got 9 pair for $51.

Helloooooooooo? Anyone out there?

As of 12/22/08

18 days to the 5K
19 days to the half
20 days to the full

Hi Jeff!

I'm still up and you'll never guess why -- school was just cancelled for ds tomorrow due to the icy streets and 12" of snow we have! Not a problem you have to deal with...

Anyway, no school for ds means no Christmas Pageant, and no reason to leave work early, so I had to make my lunch and get ready for a full day at work tomorrow. Luckily my dad is visiting for the holidays, so we have an adult at home when we leave. Otherwise, I guess I would get a full day off...

I would have been uncontrollable at the crocs sale. I love them! I won't even tell you how many pairs I have, I'm wearing my mammoths right now, and I have a brand new pair ready to pack for WDW next month!

I did my 8 mi on Saturday. I tried to go too fast (shaved 2 minutes off my time from last week), and I lived to regret it. I'll be going slower for my 9 next Saturday.

Ok, I'm off to bed since dh wants to get an early start tomorrow. I don't know what time it is where you are, but we're approaching 11 pm here, and I need my beauty rest! :)

Maria

Maria,

It's a 5 hour time difference between Eastern and Hawaiian Standard time.

The Crocs warehouse had at least 300 people both days, and they kept about 50 outside the gate at a time, until others were paid up and were leaving.

We had 15 pair all together. The Mammoths were $15!

I saw families walking out with 50 pairs, while others were buying by the case.

I sure hope they continue this. It was an incredible deal!

Happy Monday!
Vicky....You are a stronger woman than me...I'm pretty sure I couldn't have chocolate on my desk and not eat it:rotfl2: . I do understand the pressures to comply with others who aren't supporting your healthy choices. Stay strong.
Julie...sorry to hear you had rain in your basement. So how much snow did you get? Congrats on getting your 20 miler in and that's great news about your knee.
Amy....Wow you packed alot in at WDW. I love the Osborne lights, they are so cool.
Jeff...:bday: belatedly to DD! 6 is such a fun age. What a great deal at the Crocs sale. Looks like you picked up a rainbow of crocs!
Beth....WTG with making it to the gym, it's so hard to squeeze it all in this time of year. Evening with the girls and Cosmos, sounds like heaven! Hope you had fun.
Maria...my kidlets are already off for Christmas break. They get a full 2 weeks and they're thrilled. I love them here, I just still have alot of wrapping to do and it makes it difficult.;) ;) I'm taking them out shopping today....they're gonna love that!:rotfl:

The temps here really dropped yesterday and when DH and I were walking to our car from the store, our faces were going numb. That kind of nixed my outdoor run. So I rented Hairspray and ran my 12 miles on the TM. Averaged a 10:15 pace and I'm good with that although I would've liked to get that last long run in outside. Take care all and have a great week.

Morning Meanies! How's it going? So, is everyone ready for Christmas?:confused3 I am actually doing better than I thought I would be at this point.

We got a nice tree yesterday, and it's even mostly decorated! Most presents for the family have been bought and wrapped ((((((I believe that is actually a new record for me! I am usually wrapping Christmas eve!)))). I have made dozens of cookies, but all have been chocolate chip (no variety this year :sad1: )

I am looking forward to the holiday's being over.......

Vicky: I would like to think I could not eat the treats......but I know for a fact that there would have been some nibbling!

Tracy: I am glad that my kids have a couple more days of school! Gives me some time to get ready for the holidays!

Jeff: The croc sale looked awesome! Great deals there!

Maria: So, are you looking forward to all the holiday break with your boys???

I had a great time at my sister's over the weekend! She hosted a lovely party, and it was a nice break away from my boys!

Beth

Hey guys and gals! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

SIL and I got in our 12 miles on Saturday. Overall, it went ok. The last 6 were slower than the first 6, but that's ok. Avg pace was 15:39. That is less than 16, so I'll take it! I feel like eventhough it was tough, I can definately do this Half!

I experienced my first Ice bath. Not sure if it worked or not, but I was feeling descent on Sunday. Really tired, but not too much soreness.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Stacie

Good Morning Lean Mean Brigade!

It's cold one...in my office. It's 55 degrees. They are working on the heat in the building, and I am wearing a scarf as I type. My little fingers are ever so cold :cold: way too chilly to concentrate and accomplish actual work ;)

I am looking forward to getting home and getting warm. I really wish I didn't have to come in tomorrow, but my colleague and I are exchanging gifts and having lunch, so :rolleyes1 between that and yoga it shouldn't be too stressful.

I should do 5 mi tonight, but I know myself well enough to know that's not going to happen. I will do my 5 mi on Christmas Eve, I'm not going anywhere that day! :thumbsup2

Stacie -- If you can do 12, 13.1 is a cinch! :goodvibes

Beth -- I too was baking like there was no tomorrow Friday. I made carrot cake cookies, pb fudge, chocolate fudge, and spicy oyster crackers. I'm still going to make lemon cookies with buttercream frosting, and another batch of fudge and oyster crackers to take to our neighbors on Christmas Eve. I would say I made Rice Krispy Treats, but ds really did all the work, and he was so proud of himself :santa:

Tracey -- My ds was supposed to be off the 23rd to the 2nd, but Mother Nature decided he could start his vacation today... I don't envy you shopping with the kids. Unless my ds is shopping for himself, he's not overly interested. :sad2:

Jeff -- Wow! 5 hours! How long do you guys give yourselves to adjust when you come to WDW for Marathon weekend? I think I would be a wreck. :scared:

Julie -- How are your streets? Ours are clear, and our backyard is like a winter wonderland. I like how the snow looks on the evergreen trees, I'm just not so fond of it on the sidewalk. ;) I don't know how you do those long runs outside in this weather, you are an iron woman! pirate:

Amy -- How are you feeling? Great job on the weight loss!

Vicky -- How were your storms? We ended up with about 18 inches overall. I'm just glad I'm not further north, they got pummelled yesterday!(I hope that's not where you are in Canada!) :goodvibes

Shoutouts to the rest of the Lean Meaners, I hope you are ready for a wonderful holiday season! :santa:

Maria princess:

Hi Maria!!!!! Just popping in to say hi.

Are you doing the 1/2????

Hi Kim!

I am doing the Half! Are you coming to the Pop meet? It would be great to see you again.

I know we're going to have more long afternoons to chat soon!

Maria

Yes it was great chatting with you for afternoons on end...I guess our version of tapering....lol

Do you know what corral you are in? I am in corral E wave 2. It would be great if we are in the same one.

Yes we will definatley be there Friday at POP. Can't wait to see everyone again

Jeff: wow, what a great Crocs sale! I know the company's stock has tanked, but that sale looks like they are seriously liquidating. I certainly hope not. I love Crocs and own over 10 pair in various styles myself. BTW, you can buy the Mickey Ear ones on their website in their outlet (or clearance) section. I believe they are half price. I was considering getting a black w/red Mickey since I already have the red w/black! Loved the photos!

Everyone else: I almost feel like the most I can do is say hello, goodbye, Merry Christmas......life is THAT busy! BTW, my 20-miler was only so-so. The first 15 miles were right on track, but the last 5 caused me to be way off regulation pace. It wasn't totally my fault and I did get the distance in, so I am not going to fret. It's in the bag now.

Have a very happy holiday everyone......just in case I don't make it back!

I'll be seeing some of you very soon!
