Weight loss for Wishers and becoming Leaner Meaners!

Debra: A borbon sample sounds good to me! I have been indulging my taste for coconut rum of late......alot. The holidays......can't wait till they are over. Glad to see you back. I have been thinking of you. Hope the back improves. You are right, abdominal and core work will be a great idea for the New Year! I have a bad back, but it's been much better with doing my Pilates! Hope your marathon goes well!

Maria: Hate to say it, but I am glad to be at work today. My dear kidlets were driving me insane yesterday......they just can't seem to get along, and are fighting constantly (((((just to drive me insane, I swear!))))))) Hope yours are doing better than mine!

To all the Meaners heading to WDW soon.......good luck and have a ton of FUN! Remember, it's not the PR, it's the pictures you get!!!!!

Lean Meaners!

I got in trouble cooking for the inlaws last week in Austin.

They wanted to know why the waffles had a Dewar's like piquant...I pointed out the line in the recipe that said "Season to taste".

Anyway, its been a long time since I was on this thread, and I have missed you (mostly) much!

Ironman training starts next week, so this will be an exciting 38 weeks...

Jeff: That looks JUST like Queen's Bath on Kauai! Nice pics...I think I'll tune into KKCR for a bit to get the island groove back!

Jeff...We always miss you! Glad to hear that y'all made it through the power outage and that you didn't lose any food (we had to throw out 2 refrigerators and a deep freezer full of food the last one). It sounds like your family made it into an adventure. What a gorgeous hike! At first, I couldn't find the swimmers in the water and then I looked above "Crazy"...oh my gosh, what were they thinking? Are your girls all coming to Disney with you?
Julie...sorry to hear your little guy is sick....my DS3 is, too. After 3 nights of little to no sleep, we were finally given the go ahead to give him some meds. It's 9:30 here and he's still sleeping, poor baby. I hope your little guy is feeling better soon and I'm convinced that DH (mine and yours) can sleep through anything ;) .
Deb...A bourbon sampler sounds like a great gift, was that from your IL's? Congrats to have your place back to yourselves. Drinking and IL's? they just seem to go together, don't they?
Beth...hey there! Yum, love Malibu and pineapple juice.
Everybody else...

I got my 10 miles in on the river trail yesterday in a nice 11 m/m pace. It was a gorgeous day, although it was a little windy (not like Jeff's windy) and lots of people and lots, lots, lots of dogs! I love dogs, so that's a good thing. Have a great day all....I guess I need to start thinking about packing.

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to pop in and tell everyone hello. Hope you are all having a great Holiday in between.

Jeff - I have to get one of those necklaces (If it would fit my neck) where might one find one?

Take care everyone!
Chris

Hi Mike & Chris...glad to hear that you're both doing well. We must've been posting at the same time. Dewar's waffles...could be a nice way to make the holidays even more interesting.:rotfl2:

Hi Everyone,

I'm off from work for 18 days. While it's nice to be at home, I get in trouble without the structure. I have been eating like crazy. What it took me 1 month to lose I gained in 5 days. Ugh. There are just too many leftovers in my house. I'm going to send the cookies into work with my DH, but there's still all the dip and pie and everything else.

I've skipped a few runs since I've been so busy. I got out for 14 miles yesterday and I'm really feeling it today. I hope to jump back into my training full force this week, we'll see how that goes with having the kids at home. I got a set of 5 Jillian Michaels workout DVDs for Xmas so I'm planning on doing those regularly. I've done 1 so far.

Tracey: I'm so jealous that you are starting to pack. Enjoy your trip. I'm hoping to get back to WDW next year. Glad you got to run outside on a beautiful day. Can't always count on that in December. Hope DS is feeling better soon. Congrats on your new Garmin. Have fun with it.

Mike: How exciting to be beginning IM training. Are you feeling well rested and highly motivated?

Beth: I hear you about the kids fighting. Some days it's non-stop, but then on other days they are so sweet to one another. Enjoy the peace of work.

Debra: Welcome back. I hope your back recovers quickly.

Jeff: Glad you survived the power outage. Nice pictures.

Julie: Glad you were able to get your 12 miles in despite the lack of sleep. Hope DS is feeling better.

Hello to all the other Lean Meaners.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Cindy: I totally relate to the 'schedule' thing. I pack my breakfast and lunch every day I work, and I think it's key to keeping on a good eating plan. When I am home, I will skip meals, and then eat crap instead (usually late at night cause I am starving! ). I was glad to get back to work this week.

So, how about a role call this morning? If you are lurking, just post a little 'hi' for us, okay?

I did get my Pilates in last night (thanks to Debra).....sometimes I need a little reminder to get my weights and Pilates in. They do wonders for me, but I have to sacrifice my cardio/running time to get them in......I only have an hour a day for exercising (and sometimes that's even pushing it). So, when I choose some cross training, I feel bad that I didn't run. I know it will definitely help me in the end, but it doesn't take the guilt away. And I feel bad for my team that I am not posting miles for them. Listen to me WHINE.....let's move on.....

I will try to get to the gym tonight for the dreaded TM......hopefully something good will be on the TV! :cool1:

I'm here, Beth.....but I still have one kid and one houseguest. They leave this evening, so I hope to be back soon. Trying to keep up with reading the posts here and there.

hello to all.......can't wait for the holidays to be over so I can get back to eating right. I have been surrounded by way too much food. I made a conscious effort to not eat too much, but I am sure I "picked" my way to a few extra pounds. :rotfl:

but I am sure I "picked" my way to a few extra pounds. :rotfl:

Oh Yeah, i feel your pain.

I am up 13 pounds from July when I did the 1/2 IM. I'm sure what happened is that I ate like I was still training, but not exercising like I was in preparation for the 1/2.

I expect that the weight will start to drop when I get into training for the full IM :scared1:

Thanks for checking in Mike and Jeanne! I too feel your pain......pesky Holiday pounds.....they take so much time to come off, but very little time to come aboard!

Anybody else out there?????? :confused3 :confused3

Beth

Hello Lean Meaners!

Jeff - Great pics. Even pics of wet, windy Hawaii are better than pics of cold, windy Boston right now. :)

Debra - It sounds like your back is recovering nicely. I hope it continues to improve. As for the bourbon sampler, sounds like a great gift to me! :drinking1

Beth - I hear ya with the kiddos fighting. It seems to go hand in hand with having lots of days off from school. :confused3 Mine seem to go from one extreme to another. Not wanting to be around each other one minute and glued at the hip the next.

Mike - I like your way of cooking. I'd love to get your waffle recipe. It could make a holiday breakfast very interesting...

Tracey - Sorry to hear that your little guy is sick too. I hope he's better soon. :goodvibes

Cindy - Enjoy your 18 days off! :cool1:

Jeanne - I used the same "strategy" that you did and I think I picked my way to a few new pounds as well. I'm not going near a scale until after the marathon though, so I'm just going to pretend that those pounds aren't there. :rolleyes1

Hello to all of the Lean Meaners out there!

Checking in per request! :thumbsup2

Hey Lean Mean Brigade!

I still have one LR before I start to taper, but I think the madness has already started

My SMom arrived yesterday, so she and my dad can watch ds while we go to Orlando. She is a very nice woman, but she's not my mom. It's been 6 years, you'd think I wouldn't dwell on my mom's passing, but I think this time of year brings it up...anyhoo onto happier thoughts!

Julie -- I'd like to think if I stopped baking I'd stop eating, but that's just not true. I have however, convinced myself that I can make anything at anytime, so I don't have to eat fudge like I will never see it again. :scared:

Beth -- How much longer is Christmas vacation?! Actually, I'm not complaining. This is the first year since first grade we haven't had a project to do over the break, and it is wonderful! :woohoo:

Mike -- I think I am the only person who gains once they get into long (for me) distances. It is bizarre, and I can't explain it :confused3

Jeanne -- It's hard to keep up with everything online with company! My dad has been here since the 15th, and I fall further and further behind. After the Half, I'll have plenty of time to catch up. Ironic, isn't it?! :upsidedow

Cindy -- How do you like the Jillian Michaels dvds? I love her, but I've never tried one of her workouts. I'm not sure I'd make it...:scared1:

Tracey, Chris, Deb, Jeff -- So awesome to see you guy's posts! :cool1:

Ok, I have to change my clothes for yoga.

Everyone have a Happy New Year! party:

Maria :surfweb:

Yeah! Nice to see Julie and Maria 'stop' by!

Julie: What scale???? I haven't seen a stink'in scale!!!!! ((((My story and sticking to it!!!)))))) Don't worry, those extra pounds don't have a chance!

Maria: I guess I am lucky.......my ds's don't usually have work over the holidays......maybe they just have had nice teachers! :confused3 Glad you are 'free' of the work this year! Enjoy it!

((((((anyone else around today??????))))))

Beth

Yo team! Packing up for my Maui vacation. Need some R&R with family, before running vacation with my friends! :thumbsup2

Beth: Mmmm, rum! I'm glad the holidays are over, as well, so that I can get some of that much-needed structure that Cindy mentioned. It's been missing, as has been my sanity. I definitely need to get back to Pilates, as I know it's good for me. Much better than broccoli, and I like it better!' I'm like you, and tend to neglect my weight/Pilates training; I think I feel like since I sweat more with cardio I'm doing more. :confused3

Mike: Dewar's? You can make me waffles any time! Okay, I've been gone so long--where/when is your next Ironman? That will take those pounds off for sure!

Tracey: Running on a river trail sounds wonderful. One of my New Year's Resolutions is to explore more running trails around here....by actually running. (Pssst, I drank a lot before the ILs, now I just blame them for it.)

Cindy: I empathize with the structure. Post-marathon I won't have any, and I'm terrified what that will do for my eating habits. How do you like the Jillian Michaels DVDs--worth looking into?

Jeanne: It sounds like you had a grand gathering this year. How exciting! We call the nibbling grazing or foraging in my household. Apparently we all behave like animals.

Julie: Holiday pounds are meant to be chased off in January; that's why Disney schedules its big weekend when it does! ;)

Maria: I hope most of your thoughts of your mom are happy ones. You're not alone in the last LSD; I've got one more walk in and am not really tapering. I'll just feel mentally stronger if I get one more in, given how disrupted the training has been. Like you, though, I've discovered the madness occurs with or without taper. Sad, really, that suddenly I enjoy shopping. :rotfl2: What form does yours take?

Jeff: Enjoy Maui--as if that was ever in doubt. :upsidedow See you in less than two weeks!

As for me: Oh, it's ugly here folks. I gave that scale the same dirty look it's been giving me. I didn't gain any weight over the holidays--yeah for the liquid diet--but didn't lose any of those pounds that I put on from the last semester. So we're at a standoff. I'll have my vengeance post-marathon, though.

Today I did some light cardio, no weights. Tonight I'm going to do some gentle yoga. I'm not going to be trying to add too much into the routine over the next few days. DOOD and I leave for Disney this Saturday--vacationing with the ILs before the marathon--and that's disruptive enough.

Hi guys.....I'm here. This is the first time I got to check in today and we've been busy. It's so great to hear from all of you and I'll catch up tomorrow. I went to the Dr. early this morning and it's no running for me today and possibly tomorrow and then I'll be following the 1/2 with a little bit of surgery. I'm telling you, 39 is way too young for my body to be falling apart.:confused3 !!! Have a great day all!

Oh, no! I hope it's nothing serious and you're not in chronic pain. I'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best possible scenario.

Tracey: Sending good thoughts and lots of PD! I hope that all goes as well as it can. Surgery is never fun. Hope you have a blast after the 1/2!

Debra: It's so nice to have you back. Your were missed! A liquid diet is preferred by all!

Jeff: Have fun on vacation before vacation! You are way to fun for me!

Well, I did get to the gym last night but not until later......had to go get dh's truck after inspection. It needed alot of work and we take it pretty far away to let his cousin do the work on the cars. So, I didn't get to the gym until 7:30......:headache: But it got done, even with a little intervels at the end. My contribution to the cause, ya know?

The good thing is that dh fixed dinner while I was gone. I need to thank him for that.....it really did help out.

The kidlets are SO off their schedule. With me working and the boys at home, it's like a free-for-all at home. They have destroyed the house, and don't get up in the morning until after 9:00.......can't wait to get them back on their schedule for school! :scared1: :scared1:

So, tonight I will be running in the New Year! There is a local 2 mile race at 11:49pm, and you get to run into the New Year celebration at midnight! The little town actually drops a cigar instead of a ball! There will be door prizes (they give away a car!) and food. Can't beat it I guess!

Hope everyone has a nice New Year's eve celebration, and don't worry, we can all eat better in the New Year!

Beth
