Just out of curiosity, how much (if any) weight has everyone gained on a 7 day cruise? I'm alittle worried about coming home and none of my cloths fitting me!

I am obsessed with my weight so I did a 2-day juice fast before the cruise, only took the stairs while on the cruise, and DH and I walked over a mile on deck every night and I STILL gained 5 pounds! The food on the cruise is SO wonderful though, there is no way I wasn't eating whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted!

If you're really worried about gaining weight, take advantage of the stairs and walking around the ship. I think it helped a little!! Definitely do not skimp on eating though!!

Have fun!

First cruise was a 4 day and I lost 4 pounds...this past cruise I gained one pound and it was a 7 day cruise.

AladdinsPrincess ~ I'm alittle crazy about my weight too. I walk/ jog about 5 days a week and lift weights every other day. I'm going to still go to the gym when we're on the ship. But there is NO WAY i'm going to eat light on the ship either. I'm getting my money's worth! :teeth:

aprilgail2 ~ How in the world did you lose 4 pounds on a cruise? I couldn't do that sitting at home drinking just water!!!

Didn't weigh myself before leaving and didn't upon return, so I decided that meant I weighed the same......:p

I guess I was just more active on the ship than I am at home...I walked around Nassau and then swam all day in Freeport and at Castaway Cay and walking around the ship.

we just got back from a four and a seven day cruise and i gained 4 1/2 pounds. i thought it would be more so i'm happy. now i'll just have to exercise it off.

On our 4 day cruise I didn't gain anything but we had spent 7 days in the parks walking around before the cruise.

I've been wondering how I would keep the weight off on our next 7 day cruise. I plan to exercise at least once a day either by taking a fitness class or walking around deck 4. Maybe I'll even join DH & DS in a game of basketball. Some of the shore activities will help a little too (snorkeling, horseback riding, etc).

I've also been looking at the menus available on Barb's site. LOL. It's a year until our cruise and I'm already trying to figure out how to choose dishes that will allow me to keep on track (somewhat) and still allow me to indulge a bit too. I'm fairly certain that I can keep within my point range for breakfast & lunch but with all the wonderful choices for dinner, I'll be using all my flex points & activity points (I'm on Weight Watchers) for dinner...and my drinks. The chocolate souffle at Palo is a must have for me so I'll have to cut back in other areas.

We've cruised DCL three times, each 7-day itineraries. The first time I gained 5 lbs, the second 8 lbs! (I eventually lost the weight, I think everyone does.:D )

This time, however, I got smart...I didn't weigh myself before I cruised! (That way, I don't have to obsess so much about it!) Just to be safe, take one size larger shorts and/or pants!:hyper: And remember, most vacation weight gain is only temporary.

I gained 6 pounds on our cruise, and have exercised them back off. I dare you to not indulge in the desserts! ;) Our server, Jean (from Macedonia) always brought one or two extra desserts "in case of emergency" and an extra lobster tail on the Captain's gala night. If we had trouble deciding between two entrees, he brought both. Can't let that yummy food go to waste!

Finally, a diet tip that makes sense. :teeth:
Plan to use the same "technique" for our trip.

7 lbs when I got home, but within a day I had lost 4 of them. I think the change in foods made me put on a lot of water weight. So I gained 3 lbs.

I ate just about whatever I wanted, but I didn't eat all of it. That way I still got to enjoy it, but didn't feel wuite so guilty.

I am so obsessive about my weight that I won't go anywhere overnight without packing a scale because I can put on weight very fast. Getting weighed on a rocking ship isn't easy! I gained 11lbs the first cruise and 12lbs the second and that was after spending the day after our cruise in bed not eating and very sick with a stomache virus. Went on the ship a size 8 left a tight size 12.

I watch everything I eat all year but for one week I allow myself to try anything I want and worry about losing it all again when I get home. I take little tastes, never finish anything and splurge on soup from room service at night and love every second of it. Enjoy yourself while your on the cruise. It's one of those rare times that a mom gets pampered. Worry about the weight when you get home, enjoy the heck out of your week while there.

We have been on many cruises and wieght gain has been the subject around many a dinner table. The concenuss is 1lb wieght gain per day. On our last 7 day cruise we gained just over 7lbs.
But the wieght allways comes off when you get home because you have become too lazy to make dinner and go hungry for a few days.

This is just absolute nonsense.

I was told explicitly by our server and our assistant server that there is absolutely no calories, fat or carbohydrates in any of the food or beverages served on the Magic. This was confirmed by other CMs as well.

Therefore all weight gain (including the 7 pounds that I gained) can only be explained as accumulated pixie dust.

In November we did the 7 day land/sea and I somehow managed to loose 3 lbs. Of course, my scale hasn't budged since - maybe time to go again?

I think it was all the walking I did plus the fact that I was only eating at meal time - no snacks. At home I tend to be a graiser and other than mealtime, I wasn't eating - I can only eat so much in one sitting.

Okay, this is embarrassing, but...I gained 6 lbs. on the 3 night Wonder!!! I am a Lifetime Weight Watcher after having lost 25 lbs. a few years ago, so I am always counting my "points." But on the cruise, I had no idea how many points to count the food as, so I just ate everything!!! And boy was it good! So I gained 6 lbs. in 3 nights, but then it took almost 3 weeks to get rid of them...just in time for my trip to Disney World, where I proceeded to put 4 lbs. back on. I've been home for a little over a week now, and I still have 2 more to go. It's so easy to put on the weight, but it is soooo hard to get rid of it.

I have decided that I would try to lose 5 pounds the few weeks before we sail. (I am motivated to look good in a bikini!) This way when I get on the ship I have 5 lbs to play with. When I cut out my flex points or reduce them significantly I lose weight fast. Even though I am at goal I know I can drop a few cause I gave myself a three pound cushion when picking my goal. On the ship I will exercise everday so that I can at all the desserts I want. As far as I am concerned there are no points in vacation food ::yes::

I always eat on the ship like I eat at home. One cruise, the Celebrity ship the Galaxy '02, we were with a large group and I ended up eating a dessert every night--well, I gained 5 lbs on that cruise! It came off but slow. I learned that just because the food is offered doesn't mean I have to change how I eat and over indulge myself. I take the stairs instead of the elevators and I only eat at the meal times--no snacking between meals or at bedtime. It works for me and I don't feel like I am missing out. Kathy

Is it okay to take items from the breakfast buffet to snack on during the day? (fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, etc.)
