Quick Question:

How often does everyone here weigh themselves? Everyday or more like once or twice a week. I don't know which I prefer. I like to know its working but seeing the flux everyday is frustrating. What do you all do?

I don't think weighing yourself every day is beneficial. Your weight may change from day to day because of various reasons like water weight. Even though you may have lost pounds the scale may not reveal it because of water weight. I weigh myself once a week now- on sundays mornings at exercise. Not seeing any results if you weigh yourself every day is very frustrating indeed!!

I think I am going to start doing that. Thanks for the idea! :cheer2:

I am a once a day weigher. Doing it everyday is just going to cause frustration when you see the naural ups and downs that happen. I weigh myself Sunday AM first thing in the AM, in the nude. I record that and move on with my day. Weight is just a snap shot. The true measure is just that measure. How do you clothes fit, have you lost inches?

I weigh myself once a day....naked, just before my shower and after my pee....heeheehee

I have been losing about 2 lbs every four to five days except during my cycle, but I anticipate that and I'm good to myself. I tend to sit at one weight until afterwards.

I weigh myself everyday. I used to do it no more than once a week because everyone said you aren't "supposed" to do it everyday. I find it's much easier for me to keep on the right track doing it everyday. But I don't obsess over it. If I gain a pound or two I can quickly get back on track or track what I might be doing wrong, instead of waiting all week to weigh myself, gaining a couple of pounds, and then feeling like a failure or ready to throw in the towel. But I say just do what works for you and what keeps you working towards your weight loss goals. :yay:

Once a week but only because my husband broke my scale so until I buy a new one I have to weigh myself at my mom's house lol

I weigh myself everyday too. And like others in the am after using the bathroom and naked. It can be frustrating seeing the scale go up when you don't think it should. But I find I have more motivation to stick to my plan when I'm up in the morning. I don't want to be up even more the next day.

You know what's fun (well here is a weird version of fun!! LOL!!) I like to weigh again after I've worked out really hard. All sweaty and gross. And see how much you lost. It's only water weight. But sometimes it's really great to see that you can lose 2lbs of water working out! I told you it was weird!

I think I have a bit of OCD. I weigh myself about 4-5 times a day. My scale is screwy and will tell me 3 different weights three times in a minute.:confused3 I just bought the darn thing 1 1/2 years ago and it is to be right on but I think it is lazy/crazy.

I've weighed myself daily since the end of April. I think it helps to keep me focused. I also like the way it keeps me in tune with my body. I can tell a week before Aun t Flo arrives without even glancing at a calendar.

Now that I started going to the gym again there has been a little bit more of a consistant drop rather than an up, down, stay the same situation so I don't dread the scale every morning quite as much. lol!

My official weigh in is Tuesday, but I weigh myself everyday, most times with clothes on so that I am not discoraged if I am up. With clothes you can see about "where" you are... It keeps accountable!

Every day here. I keep track of my cycle, and know how it affects my weight, so the up and down from hormones doesn't bother me.

I actually use the Hacker's Diet tracker to keep track of my weight. The trend line goes down fairly steadily, even if the scale doesn't.

For me, weekly weigh-ins wouldn't protect me from random fluctuations. If I report gain/loss weekly for a challenge, I usually have a gain or maintain every other week. Since I weigh every day, I know if that gain/maintain is a one-off thing, or a regular occurence.

At Weightwatchers, they told us not to weigh us more than once a week. Well, twice a week: once at the meeting and once at home without all those heavy winter clothes on!

I am a weigh myself every day person. first thing in the morning nekkid just before my shower. I used to only do it once a week but I find I can better monitor my cycles, how I am eating etc. I can see what certain things really do to me (like too much salty food. ugh!). also I am less shocked by those little up and down changes and am more aware that its just life rather than serious weight gain (when I was a once a weeker and saw a +2 it used to freak me out)

You have a good point. I have been weighing myself everyday but I think thats only cuz I am losing weight lol...
