I notice them popping-up all over the place. I have been going to a Gym for 3 years and I am soooo bored!! I'm in a rut and need change but I like to see results?
What's their concept?

They are popping up all over!! I just wish I had the time to get to one, with my sched only first thing in the morning works, and that is 4:30 am :( Have a great time, and let us know how you are doing. Don't be a stranger :)

Congrats!!!! I can't wait to get weighed next week.

That's great! Are you following the Curves diet too?

Curves is a workout routine sort of....

You start on a pad and walk in place or step. Then every 30 seconds you change stations. You use equipment. This torture thing that you put your legs in and pull in push out.
I hate that thing!!!! Plus other types of machines.

The best part...only women. It is arranged in a circle and you can talk with the women around you.
It is wonderful.

No, I am not following the diet, because diets don't work for me.

I am increasing my exercise and not eating so much sugary stuff.

It is a hard habit to break, but water is starting to taste better than a soda. (not all the time)!

How often do you go and for how long each time?
How long before you saw results?

I started a week ago. I went last Fri. my first time...

I go three times a week, and it's a 30 minute workout. You are in there, and outta there pretty quick.

So, I am very encouraged since it has only taken a week to feel better and lose a little weight.
I am going to try to find a half hour everyday to do this.

I like the Curves workout. The music (something with a beat) and the other women make it easy to keep going and so far, I just haven't gotten bored with the routine. As mentioned, about every 30 seconds or so, you move to the next station. "Recovery" pads alternate with various machines. The machines operate on hydraulic resistance and each one focuses on a specific set of muscles. The faster you go on the machines, the harder you have to work. So as your fitness increases, so does the intensity of the workout. They stop the circuit every so often to make you take your heart rate. That's to make sure you are exercising at the right rate. If it's too fast, you take it easy a little and if it's too slow, you can kick it up a little.

I also like that I don't get sore from the Curves workout. I was worried about that - how can it be working if you don't get sore, right? The Curves manager says it's because of how the machines are designed - something about the "pull and push" motion. She explained it and it made sense when I heard it, but I can't repeat it here. I just remember that she said it does work and it isn't supposed to "make you sore".

I also like that Curves is just for women. My Curves has all ages of women and they are all levels of size/fitness. I don't feel like I'm too fat or worry about how I look (like I did at other places). Most people just exercise in sweat pants and a T-shirt - no fancy-smancy exercise stuff that shows off your "fat rolls" is required. :teeth:

I like that I am building muscle, which takes more calories to support than fat cells. I was told that most women can lose weight just by cutting out the excess sugar in their diets and exercising at Curves 3 times a week.

I like that even when you aren't losing weight, you are losing inches. Muscle weighs more than fat, but I'd rather have muscles than fat. I look and feel better. Now I don't really care how much I weigh, just how I look in my jeans, LOL!

I like that if I keep exercising, I don't have to diet for the rest of my life. I'll be able to eat "normally". Never could stay on those maintenance diets, LOL!

Hope you like Curves as much as I do! I was going to skip today, but after reading your post, I'm planning to go later this afternoon. Thanks for the inspiration! :bounce:

Well said Carol!
Glad you are going in today. I try to get my exercising out of the way when I can.

I went in last night about 5:45 and let me tell you, those women were quiet. In the morning, people are talkative and ready to get going on the day.

I don't think I will do too many late evening times.
I like talking to the other women in the facility.

Lisa!!! I'm so proud of you! Losing 1.5 pounds is a wonderful accomplishment. I hope you are proud of yourself :)

Thank you, Thank you!

Yes, I did the happy dance out the door of Curves.

I got some stange looks from people passing by!

I told my husband and he said, "Great". "You lost that since last Friday?"

So, he is motivating me and that scale is motivating me.
