Wegmans market?

I assume you were driving to the one near me in Ashburn/Sterling, VA? We had a lot of cars from MD there before other locations opened up.

Actually I used to drive to Hunt Valley (near Baltimore) but I always went to Sterling when I went over there for business meetings - my home office is 5 mins. from Wegman's in Sterling. Now we have the nice new one in PG County, so I'm happy. It's not CLOSE, but it's close ENOUGH. :goodvibes

Love this store... I drive from Alexandria, VA to Woodbridge VA once a week to shop.

Their steaks are the best and the regular price is about the same price as Giant or Safeway on sale, and a lot better.

Another Western New Yorker! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Wegmans. I hate when I go out of town and can't find one! I've been to Whole Foods as well, and I love it there, however, I feel that Wegmans has more of a balance between the upscale Whole Foods, eco-friendly thing and the convenient modern market idea. Love the $6 meals and the subs, their new thin crust pizzas are amazinggg!!! There are about 5 locations near me, the closest being about 10 minutes away, so I am very spoiled. :cutie: But I love my Wegmans! Make sure you grab one of their Menu magazines if ya'al haven't already! They're great! :thumbsup2

I grew up in southern PG county. I'll be going to the "Sterling" one tomorrow. I don't usually call it that, it's considered Sterling Park, but it's on the Ashburn side of 28 and everything around it is Ashburn. I live about 3-4 miles from it.

I know - our office is referred to as the Ashburn office, the Sterling office and the Dulles office - depending on who you are talking to! I actually usually say Dulles since it's next to the Dulles Town Center.

By the way OP - did you get the idea now that it's not really a grocery store?:goodvibes I liken it more to an immersive experience with a lot of cult-like groupie followers. Come ... join us ...

DH is from Syracuse and the only thing he misses about the area is Wegmans! When we go to visit family there we always stop by on our way out of town.

In-laws used to go to church with Alec Baldwins mother and she has said she won't move away from the area because she loves Wegmans so much! Her sons have tried to get her to move to CA with them but no go.

Have you not seen this?

Alec Baldwin on Letterman talking about his mother & Wegman's.

Wegman's then did commercials with Alec Baldwin and his mom - I think someone mentioned that - around Christmas time.

We have a couple of Wegmans near us. I agree with PP in that it's more like Whole Foods than Stop and Shop. They sell workout videos, organic foods, lots of teas, crocs, patio furniture, diverse prepared foods as well as the usual grocery store stuff. I like Wegmans a lot. Grocery shopping is not nearly as boring at Wegmans compared with say, Giant.

They are known for their great customer service. If you ask an employee for something, often they will walk with you to the designated spot, not just point or tell you what aisle the thing "should" be in, KWIM? You won't wait long in line at Wegmans. They have enough cashiers working to make things very efficient and you never bag your own stuff. And I don't think their prices are any worse than Giant's and they are better than Acme's prices.

Oh, they have a GREAT cheese section with all kinds of international varieties as well as a Mediterranean bar with all sorts of olives and things....very good!

OMG LOVE Wegmans!! my brother and I had to drag ourselves out of one in NY, we just didn't have enough time to drool over everything we saw! I wish we had them down south!!

Wegmans is not expensive.

In my area, Wegmans is CHEAPER than ALDI's. Yes, you read that right, cheaper than off brand no thrills Aldi.

Milk, Cheese, eggs, soups, yogurts and some produce are all cheaper than Aldi.

They do true double coupons so a 75 cent coupon is worth 1.50 instead of the stingy up to $1 at other places.

Our Wegmans has liquor stores, which is WONDERFUL.

The only problem with the Wegmans is it is very crowded and parking is awful. Sometimes its worth it for me to go at 6 am to avoid the crowd.

Us too, well actually DW, drive to Woodbridge from Springfield/Lorton. Can't wait for the new one to open near Ft. Belvoir.

You know, it's funny, I grew up near Scranton, PA and there has been a Wegman's there for quite some time. I remember people use to complain about their prices, but now that we shop at one here in VA, we've actually found them to be quite a bit cheaper than the Safeways and Giants we have around here.

We also love the fact that all Wegman's brand products have alergens listed right on the front, since DD has Celiac Disease. Also, their non-Wegman's Gluten-Free products are so much cheaper than any other store, and better selection.

Lastly, if there are any Penn Stater's reading this, they sell stickies in the store (Actual one's from the Diner)!

I am a Wegman's snob! it's probably the only thing in my life I'd consider myself a snob about, but I admit it. I won't shop anywhere else. It is truly the best. As far as prices. I have found that produce wise I can get cheaper and Walmart, but the quality is not there. Basically, you get what you pay for and at Wegman's it is the best. For everything else, I buy almost exclusively Wegman's brand and it is exceptional quality and affordable. I am very frugal and Wegman's fits fine for me. I can't imagine not living near Wegman's. Maybe cause they are EVERYWHERE here (we are in their hometown) but they are never crowded, parking is never and issue and even when I go at busy times I never wait, they are very well staffed.

The Pittsford store is an experience for sure. Everyone who comes to visit us wants to go there. :)

I used to shop Whole Foods until Wegmans came along! Wegmans' prices are so much better on organics. Also, their fish has such a high turnover that it is always fresher than Whole Foods. I guess WF's fish is more expensive, so not as high turnover there. Enjoy!!

Love my Wegmans and I love the fact that it's only 3 miles from my house. To me, it's not only grocery shopping but a social time since I seem to run in to 1 or 2 friends while shopping there.

For 2 weeks I went to HArris Teeter with $10 off coupons they gave me and I found the store quality to be lower, selection to be lower and their prices were higher. I went back to Wegmans.

I love their prepared meals. For $6 my son gets the mac and cheese as a side and I get 1 entree and a side for myself. Not bad for $3 per person!

There's one in Fairfax so why would you drive to Woodbridge? My DS lives in Burke and goes to the Fairfax one now that it's open. He used to go to Woodbridge and occasionally does if he's down at Potomac Mills for something.

Harris Teeter and Giant are both a lot more expensive. We have a friend whose daughter works at HT and they shop there most of the time. They think they're getting great deals because of the coupons. They never really comparison shop to see Wegman's is cheaper than both.

A friend told me she loves Wegmans and compares it's CS to Disney, LOL.

She said, "I love Wegmans and Disney World for their customer service". So, it's only appropriate for you to inquire about Wegmans on a Disney website!

We have 2 Wegmans in our area. I also first thought they were pricey but the more I checked the better deals I found. I love their perpared foods also.. BUT you cant beat Shoprites prices ever.. lol

There's a Wegmans about 1 mile from me getting ready to open on June 4. It is HUGE! I looks like there is a restaurant/cafe built into it too. I can't wait to check it out. I really like my Giant Eagle seafood selection though. We'll see how Wegman's stand up to it.
