One of these will open enar me in the Fall. They don't look like a budget store but I have no issue with that. I want to know if it is a regular market, or more upscale like Whole Foods. I have food allergies so I shop at whole foods for specialty items and prepared foods I know are safe. Is Wegman's like Stop and shop or whole foods?

IMO, Wegmans is more like Whole Foods. They have a huge prepared foods area and a lot of specialty foods/areas as well.

And I have found if you buy their wegman's brand items or certain sale items they do have some good deals. I just try to avoid the prepared foods and the bakery.:thumbsup2

I love Wegmans. They have a lot of premade foods. (subs are very good and I highly recommend). Their prices I feel are cheaper then our other supermarket in the area. Those you need to know your prices. This is the only supermarket that I like to shop at. They stock locally grown vegatables and fruit.

This is my Favorite store and we have to drive about 25 minutes to get to it :thumbsup2 Their brand is good, what I love most is their Seafood, Meats, and Bakery departments!!! You have to try their fruit tart they are yummy and beautiful!! Consider yourself lucky to be getting one, I'm jealous ;) Enjoy :)

Love Wegmans! It's a real quality food market with good deals on "supermaket" type stuff, and more pricy prepared food and bakery items. Their breads and prepared foods are so good though! You will love shopping at Wegmans!

Wegmans is amazing! I love it so much! Ours has free child watch, a lovely coffee shop, kids sitting area to eat. Really, it makes the life of a SAHM so nice! Anyway, buy their name brand, it's very good and cheap. I also buy their about to expire meat and freeze it; that makes it cheaper. The bakery isn't too bad in prices; huge muffins are $1. Really, you must go and experience it for yourself.

LOVE WEGMAN'S! There are a bazillion grocery stores between us and Wegmans. (Including extra gas) I save money. Their Nature's Market items cost much less than Whole Foods. Allergies? They've got something for you. Large selection of gluten-free items. All Wegman brand items have allergen info symbols on front of package.

Their basics like milk and eggs, cost less than many other stores.

Can you run up a HUGE bill with prepared foods? YUP! But, boy, do they have some GOOD food!

Sign up for their shoppers card and you will get their magazine each month. It will give three options for meals- buy prepared and hot, buy prepare and ready to cook, and recipe with ingredients for you to prepare.

Their website is great. You can make up your shopping list and it prints out according to aisles of store. You can price compare. I find that buy Wegman brand cost less than brand name with a coupon. You can search for items in store according to allergens even.

Check out their website. You will LOVE Wegmans.

Love, love, love Wegmans. It's the only grocery store I shop at anymore. There's two within 10 minutes of my house. While their prepared and specialty foods aren't cheap, their regular groceries are a good deal. They have been rated against several local chain stores and Wegman's always beats their prices. Their store brand is also excellent. We have also used them for catering and will be again in a couple of weeks. We do buy some of their specialty and prepared foods occasionally and they are excellent. Their fruit tart is soooo good and expensive, but we buy it when we're having friends over for dessert. Their fresh bread is great and their butcher and seafood areas are fabulous. The store is always busy. People drive for miles to shop there. They are an upstate NY chain and have expanded into the mid-atlantic area. The closest one to me has been opened for several years now.

You are so lucky!! I used to live near a Wegmans and I loved it. I found they were actually much cheaper then the "discount" market near us. Their own brands are very good quality and very reasonable! Plus on those nights where you just don't feel like cooking that prepared food area is wonderful!

I am from the city where Wegmans originated (Rochester, NY). I grew up shopping there all my life and love it. Wegmans is quality and you will enjoy all the selections they have to offer.

A lot of people who visit Rochester tour Wegmans. Not too long ago Cher went to the Pittsford Wegmans. Just this past holiday season, Alec Baldwin did a few commercials with his mother because she loves the store so much.

I'm so happy that I only have to drive 30 minutes to get to Wegman's now vs. the 50 minutes it was before! Not as close as when I lived 15 minutes from one, but you take what you can get! Love Wegman's - grocery shopping there is right up there on my top 10 things I like to do. (I am a foodie though). I choose Wegman's over every other store that is closer to me - in a 10 minute radius, we have 2 Giants, a Safeway, a Food Lion, a Whole Foods, a Trader Joe's, and a Target w/groceries. But I will bypass all those to go to Wegman's.

They really have good prices on many staple and their own products (which are very good quality) - they usually beat Giant and Safeway on many items.

I adore Wegmans with the heat of a thousand suns. Their store brands are excellent quality and pricing and even the specialty things are priced well for what they are (we are gluten- and soy-free at our house, so I watch prices for these items carefully). When we do resort to prepared foods we know we'll still pay less than a restaurant for excellent quality. Plus, as a previous poster mentioned, they go out of their way to stock local produce and meats. (Plus, having grown up in Western New York, I like have some old favorites available again in the Philly area.)

For some reason, they have a reputation of being expensive, but I truly don't find that to be the case. Sign up for their card to get mailings of coupons and promotions, to save a little bit more. And I find their service to be exemplary.

Another fan of Wegmans here. Always clean and bright with lots of choices. There $6.00 meals are nice if we are in a hurry or if only one of us is going to be home for dinner. Someone mentioned their magazine, I really like it, there is always a recipe or two that I try and there are usually some good coupons in it. You'll find something you like at Wegmans!

I assume you were driving to the one near me in Ashburn/Sterling, VA? We had a lot of cars from MD there before other locations opened up.

Another Western New Yorker here. Wegmans beats any store we have shopped in. (and we always seem to visit a grocery store where ever we vacation) .There brand paper products and canned soups are the best!!
Some else about them, they were voted #3 in the country as the best corporation to work for this year. (down from # 1 and 2 in past years)

Another Western New Yorker/Rochesterian here. I will only go to Wegmans. Nothing else compares. Also- great customer service. Employees are always pleased to assist and knowledgable about their products. They also put out a great menu magazine every few months.

About the only thing I can't stand staying offsite at WDW is visiting the grocery stores - Wegmans has ruined me for every other store. :)

High quality produce, meats, fish, lots of organics, excellent customer service and make sure to price compare - Wegmans has a CONSISTENT LOW PRICE policy which basically means no sales (or very few) or BOGO's, but instead takes the promotional money that goes into gimmicks like those and keeps the prices lower all the time. So you will find very often that the regular price of many items that you will get weekly are lower than any other stores in the area.

It is a family owned business and you can feel that in the stores.

Of course, I might be biased...I've worked for them for 24 years...since I was 15 years old. Not many companies around have that kind of retention - ESPECIALLY in my field - Information Technology.

Check it out - hope you like it!
