Weevils in our pasta. What should we do?

I went to dump my Rigatoni in boiling water tonight and the dry pasta was full of weevils. :sad2: I just purchased that box and one other this morning at the store.

What should we do? I'm certain the weevils were in the pasta before I brought it home from the store.

I put the box on my stove this morning when I got home. It wasn't in my cupboard at all.

Should I throw anything else out or just assume they didn't get into anything else in my kitchen?

Thanks. :thumbsup2

I would throw both boxes out if it was me and tell the manager at the store it came from.

Had to google that..A beetle..Throw them out for sure...Inspect other boxes, because you just never know..:scared:

The manager at Publix told me to bring the boxes back and she would credit me. She also said she was going to go look at the other boxes. I gave her the brand and type of pasta.

I know they can be fairly common.

This is the 2nd time in as many years that something at that store has had weevils in it.

Ewwww!

A weevil is a beetle? I never saw a weevil.

Weebles, yeah (they wobble, but they don't fall down.) No weevils.

I'd throw it out and get a new box. That's pretty gross.

Another reason I don't want to live in Florida or other warm climates. You get bugs in your foods way too easily.

:scared:

I always think of Weebels when I say weevils, too.

I wish I still had some Weebels. My children have absolutely no idea what they are.

Florida. We have Weevils, roaches, fire ants, sharks and killer bees.

Why wouldn't you want to live here?:confused3

They were the BEST!

I didn't make the Florida connection (sometimes I'm s-l-o----w) My sister lived in Key West for a while. She started putting her food in tupperware, lol.

She said they have giant roaches, but instead of calling them "giant roaches" they call them "palmetto bugs." :scared: Had to shake her clothes when they came out of the drying in case one was in there.

I want to live in FLA someday, but you people tell some scary stories! Not as scary as this one word, though: SNOW.

We had weevils in our pantry a few years ago. Those little suckers just don't go away. We ended up having to bug bomb the house but we haven't seen them since then. I have lived in Florida since 1982 and that was the first time I had ever seen let alone heard of those little boogers. I had to look it up just to make sure that was in fact what was in my dry food.

Anyway, on the "weeble" topic, they are back. We found some at Target and laughed about how popular they were when we were kids, so of course we had to buy them for our son so that he could experience the weebles wobble but they don't fall down :)

I've lived here since 1989 and I've NEVER found bugs in my food.

Not saying they aren't in there, just saying I never saw them. Knowing me...probably ate them.

Store pasta in the freezer.
You can also store it in Tupperware with a stick of Wrigleys Doublemint Gum.
(for some reason, this works)

Quite honestly, that's why I won't buy pasta in a box. I'll only use pasta that comes in a bag and I keep it in the freezer.
